Lilly89 Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 I heard about many great things GD ever did to fans and on tumblr I read a lot of great stories about them acting human. Maybe we can start a collection with the help of this thread. -Recently I heard about a girl that was cutting herself and Billie signed her arm and drew a heart on her scars from cutting. -Another one is a story that I read on someones tumblr. A girl had a panic attack when she got on stage and she had the task to sing a song. Billie noticed her panic attack and started breathing with her. He guided her through the attack. -Not to forget about the disabled fan he brought on stage. GD is such a band that never lost humanity. As a social worker myself I can totally see how they are worried for their fans. Such a few stories I heard from fans and I wanted to share with you. Maybe you can add more.
Daddy. Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 I was that there for the disabled fan on stage playing Knowledge! (London 02) Such a awesome moment. The crowd and the band made her come across like a rockstar.
Lilly89 Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 I think GD is the one and only band that still keep humanity going. They never lost the bottom under their feet

The crowd and the band made her come across like a rockstar. Didn't he hold the chords while she strummed? I remember that being so considerate. One girl posted about meeting him and she told him she was shy and he said it was okay, that shyness was a really underrated quality and that his son Jakob was shy too. That was so compassionate. In another show he was trying to coax a young girl onstage to be saved and she was too shy (he offered to come to her, hold her hand, he tried everything) and I forget what he said exactly but just the way he handled it was so kind and careful not to make her feel bad about it when he had to pick someone else. Of course the way he's always watching the crowd carefully and breaking up fights is amazing too, all while performing. He cares so much for his fans. It's knowing these things that made us all so angry when they were accused of being heartless for playing at Madrid after the accident. We know that's not Green Day.

I love all their charity work too, Oakland Children's hospital, pipeline To A Cure, Mike's cancer fund raising, Tre's golf comps, Billie and Adrienne with the chimp sanctuaries, even their drive to get compostable coffee bags! Not sure if you want that here too or not. 2 minutes ago, pacejunkie punk said: Didn't he hold the chords while she strummed? I remember that being so considerate. AmyxLongview Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Billie and Adrienne's involvement in Project Chimps is pretty awesome. I love that they care about animals.

A lot of their charity work is totally Adrienne's thing. Also NRDC and she took Billie down to New Orleans to help rebuild houses. She's a cool influence that way.

Do you remember where you read this where he said this about his son? And where the concert was where he wanted the little girl to play?
pouty bitch Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Once, I read that a fan got on stage to stage dive, and when she landed in the crowd, her boot hit a girl in the face. The girl's glasses shattered and cut her face and she was bleeding. Billie asked her multiple times if she was okay and she said she was, so they continued the show. A few minutes later, the injured girl passed out, so she was taken for medical treatment by security. Throughout the show, Billie and Mike kept talking about the incident and they were really worried. Then, at the end of the show, Mike handed his jacket that he had been wearing for a few shows to a security guard, and told him to give it to the injured fan.

The concert was from the 21CB tour and was also on YouTube but I don't remember the city. There are a bunch of them there where he brings up kids for EJN.

belinda jane Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 At the show I went to in Melbourne, a girl got pulled out of the pit and she looked pretty upset. As she was walking past the stage Billie goes "Hi, are you okay? Awww don't go! She looks so sad". But she did not even acknowledge that he was talking to her, she had no idea that he was, hahaha. Poor thing. I'll just never forget "she looks so sad" and then he did a pout face. I enjoy the way they care about their fans. Who knows how many times they have stopped a pit because people were getting roughed up - @Teenage Lush knows what that's like, eh?

Lilly89 Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 I think the reason GD is down to earth so much is that they played smaller venues before and success didn't came overnight. They never forget where they came from and that's what I totally love. Another thing is that the responsibility grew. Its different when you are having a crowd full of teenagers or children instead of adults. All of them are fathers and parents. Having a kid on your own makes you more sensitive.
kkpojpojpj Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 I think this video really shows how caring Billie is. He makes sure the fan is comfortable and feels safe, and keeps an eye on him the whole time after he stage dives.
IcyMoffatt Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 This is one of the biggest reasons I love Green Day. So down to hearth and big hearts. Do you guys remember this Instagram post from Billie: Anne's story is on Green Day Paradise (a french fan site). I can't post the link to her story right now because it seems GDP has a virus on their web site at the moment. Anyway, to make the story short, Anne had a weight disorder since she was a kid. She needed to lose weight by some kind of treatment and she found a medical center where she could do that. But she needed to stay there for weeks. When she found out Green Day was coming in Paris exactly during her stay at the medical center, she was heartbroken. She never saw the band live because of her disorder. So, she wrote a letter to the band in multiple copies and asked some people who would be going to the Paris concert to try to give the letter. Two of her friends were walking on the Champs Élysé and Billie Joe was there alone. They gave him the letter at that moment. Also, the guy who was bald because of a skin disorder:
Lilly89 Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 I never knew that she also wrote a letter to him. Amazing I'm crying.

Also, they have stayed near their families and are still very involved in their communities. The fact that they have kept in touch with so many folk from the early days of the band I think say a lot about the sort of people they are.

Not only do they all still live in and around Oakland, but they've opened multiple businesses there and are an integral part of the community. Recognition by the mayor and GD day at the A's ballpark shows how loved and appreciated they are there.
Lilly89 Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 Because of the fact that some "fans" started to harass the band I wanted to start a thread that makes clear how kind they are.
