xpliky Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Hello! Would love to make the Billie Joe vest that he is wearing in the Revolution Radio tour! But seems quite hard to find the patches he has on it. I know he has a Mickey Mouse one but can´t find the other 2. Also one patch with " Finki" on it but can´t find the logo anywhere. Strychnine. Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Here's an idea, don't. Billie had that vest made special for him. Copying someone else's stuff isn't punk at all. Make your own cool vest with your own cool shit on it.
IcyMoffatt Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Probably Billie Joe has those patches custom made. You might need to find some sites were they make what you want. (Lids, Etsy, ...) Anyway, why do you want a vest like Billie Joe has? Just make your own one! There are some pretty cool patches everywhere you can use.
Caroline Truong Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Burn it!..my first thought when you asked for "Help" with Billie's Vest? but you meant some thing else!

WhiteTim Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 yeah if I were to make a vest like Billie I'd do the vest but I'd put patches of things that mean something to me as oppose to what Billie has that way you could say it Billie inspired but with your own touch

Amber Age Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Unless you plan on cosplaying as him, I'd vote for making your own too. Fits the mindset better than just cloning. Thanks for the reminder, by the way - I've still got a Maid of Ace patch round here that I wanted to stitch onto my shirt. I should get me one of them jeans vests, but I'm broke *sheepish grin*

Make your own cool vest with your own cool shit on it. Maybe they like the look of Billie's and whether that's considered "punk" or not doesn't matter . They didn't ask anyone's opinion on whether they should make it or not, they just want some help finding the stuff. Also Billie himself is copying someone else by even wearing a vest as he had it made after someone threw a similar one up on stage and he liked it Saying that yeah, it probably would be difficult to find the exact same so you'd probably have to have them made or just settle for similar patches or patches you think are cool. Good luck with it, Billie's looks great and I'm sure yours will too whatever patches you use.
IcyMoffatt Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Finding a jeans vest without sleeves is easy. The fashion world right now is about the 1990s and those kinds of vest are/were populars. It's just that this time around it's fun to add patches to clothes which looks like from the 1990s. So, Billie Joe might have copied someone who had a vest by wearing one, but it was already «trending» in the fashion world to wear this kind of vest. Being a celebrity, he is contributing (without realizing it) to the fashion world. People see him wearing the jeans vest and they want one after that. In the end, who copied who? Anyway, for the Finki patch, I don't think it is possible to find one somewhere. I really belive Billie had it custom made because it would make sens that this patch is a reference to his alter ego Wilhelm Fink. It's just a theory, but it makes sens.

He grew up around hardcore punks who DIY'ed their own clothes and made badass shit to represent who they are when they go out against the world. It honestly surprises me it's taken him this long to have a proper punk vest made for himself. He's always fiddled around with patches and buttons on his clothing and it's awesome he's going all the way know. You can't copy a fashion style (like Billie having a vest made for himself and now also decorating his waistcoat too), but you can copy someone else's vest and that's a shitty thing to do. 7 hours ago, Tim Age said: Thanks for the reminder, by the way - I've still got a Maid of Ace patch round here that I wanted to stitch onto my shirt. Jesus of Seneca Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Goodwill (at least mine) is usually laden with denim vests

It's like how people like to try and recreate Blue, it's just fun.

He simply said he liked it and wanted to make one just like it. People copy stuff every day, even you, unless the clothes on your back right now are made specifically for you.
