Fan gives Billie Joe middle finger onstage

From the video description:

"A fan with an attitude wearing a JAWS tshirt kills it on the electric guitar on stage, right after an impostor tries and fails playing the guitar. He can add “Playing the guitar on stage with Green Day” to the list of things he has failed at, BUT Billie Joe granted him the guitar."

I hope the guy who flipped him off was joking. Wasn't sure if he was serious.

Wow, bitter much  I couldn't see it at first, thought that was what Billie laughed at. He seemed pretty bewildered when the other guy got the guitar, so guess it was done in the heat of the moment, but still a pretty douchey thing to do if serious (and not very funny if not serious).

People are forgetting what this thing of being brought on stage to play should be.. they are on this just to bring home a gift and not to share the moment with the band. It's not the first time Billie choose to give away the guitar to the person that has not played it... and he thinks this is funny, so enjoy your time on stage and do not expect to receive a guitar in exchange

Dude, I would totally try (and probably fail) to play guitar with GD on stage just to have that moment. That's something that's truly unforgettable. I wouldn't care about getting the guitar...I have one at home :P

I would not care about keeping the guitar at all (the experience of playing is more important to me), HOWEVER it does annoy me that someone gets "rewarded" for lying about their ability just to get on stage. Knowledge is a very simple song that even people who've been playing for just a couple of months can play, so you should definitely not be raising your hand when he asks for a volunteer if you know darn well you can't play guitar at all (it'd be different if you knew how to play guitar but it ended up being a really difficult song so you just weren't good enough).

Billie's probably figuring the guy who killed it already has a decent guitar, so it makes more sense to give it to the guy who sucked. Hopefully he takes it and learns how to get better with it! but it probably did sting a little for the other guy, lol. Although I wouldn't have flipped him off for it...

Yeeeeeah you're right, but also if Billie was pointing at me in the heat of the moment whatever he said id say YES without thinking about the humiliation about to befall me.

Also it seems like they value enthusiasum a little over skill. They smile the most at the worst singers that really give it their all.

What an a**hole, lol. I hate when bands do great things and after a while fans start to think they are entitled to said things. Just as @Alf said, some people forget what this is actually about.

I was there when this happened, imo the guy seemed like he was pretty serious about it. I don't even know if he was a fan or not since it was a festival and there were some people even at the front row who didn't know much about Green Day. But anyway the guy was certainly being a douche.

Why does there always have to one a*****e who spoils things for everyone, that's just the kind of behaviour that could make them stop doing this. Maybe they should reign ingiving the guitar away at every show if people are going to expect it!  Hope he's proud of himself !

WE MUST IMMEDIATELY FIND HIS PERSONAL FACEBOOK ACCOUNT SO WE CAN SEND HIM DEMEANING MESSAGES FROM MULTIPLE DUPES UNTIL HE SUCCUMBS TO DEPRESSION AND COMMITS SUICIDE, YEAH WITCH HUNT TIME, MOTHERFUCKERS! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Lol I thought maybe he might've done it playfully but no he was pissed off. To be fair if you thought you were about to get the guitar and then didn't it would be disappointing. Given that nothing is guaranteed there and he already got to play on stage it does seem a little over the top, since you should really remember not to expect it. But still I don't think it's fair to judge too harshly, having Billie hold it up and then take it away it would be disappointing to anyone in the moment and he might have seen things differently later.

Yeah but in this case Billie actually held the guitar up like he was about to give it to him and then gave it to the other dude instead. If it was just that he played the song and was never even offered it afterwards it would be different but is anyone here going to claim they wouldn't have been disappointed in that moment it was cruelly taken away? :P

It would have pissed me off. No doubt. No, I wouldn´t have been so "mature" or "wise" or "centered" just to not expect the guitar as a gift in this very moment, when I was clearly playing better than the other one. I would have felt butthurt, confused, disappointed. One fuckin´minute with my favourite band, and a dumbass gets the guitar. I understand the "finger". Maybe I wouldn´t have done it. I´d rather have called Billie an asshole...:fuckyou::D

But then again... get over it. It´s a game. :)

Meh, he seemed more interested in taking his time with his phone as Billie took the guitar away. Heat of the moment and everything, but how about acting like an adult, let alone around your idol (presumably)?

The shit stirring part of me would've liked to see Billie turn around and notice, but whatever :ga:

Lol, I must have missed that. Yeah, i actually understand the disappointment, but that's still no reason to give Billie or anyone the finger.

It is true that we should not expect anything.  Billie doesn't have to give away a free guitar.  It is a nice thing he does.  However, there is an established pattern of behavior.  You get pulled on stage, you play Knowledge, you get a guitar.  Everyone knows it happens.  The second guy got pulled on stage because the first guy couldn't play and the guy nailed it.  Then Billie gives the guitar to the guy that couldn't play???  Honestly, I would have been pissed too.

yeah the guy who doesn't know how to play shouldn't get the biggest inspiration to learn of his lifetime over the dude who looks like he has a room dedicated to decorating the walls with guitars

I feel like the reason Billie gave it to the other guy was because he was messing around on his phone after. I -think- (correct me if I'm wrong) that Billie prefers people to be in the moment when onstage instead of taking photos/texting.

Cut the sarcasm, sarcasm.  I didn't say I didn't think Billie was right, I said I would have been pissed if I was the other guy.  Why don't you try reading before getting pissy

I get what you mean but I'm not really buying the scenario - Billie took the guitar off him and there's not a single moment of eye contact between them after that. Partially because Billie's already waving for the other guy (who had the grace to kiss Tré on the cheek, I love it) and partially because he's going almost straight for his phone (holding up his hand as if to say wait a sec for a picture, like wtf?).

Also if he's a huge fan and knows 'the pattern of behaviour' (not that that's a ~worthy fan~ criteria or anything but yes there is indeed one) he might've 1) paid attention as Billie waved him onto the catwalk 2) played the song instead of freestyling solos 3) not taken the guitar off if he was expecting to keep it. I'm not saying he wasn't right in feeling thrown off but that kind of behaviour (gestures) is just such a turn off. Tré's looking over to that side of the stage laughing and talking to someone during the beginning of Basket Case, I wonder if he noticed.

/over analysing shit, sorry

Tbh that guy should get a fucking grip. Yeah, it's disappointing that he didn't get the guitar but boo fucking hoo, some people would have loved just to be in his position to get on stage with them, and he goes along and acts like a little entitled brat because they didn't gift him a guitar. :)  It's one thing to show disappointment, but to give him a finger because you're pissed you didn't get a free guitar is just laughable in my opinion.

Getting pulled on stage is awesome enough and you should be grateful you got the opportunity, and not the other ten fans who would have loved to go up there instead of you and would probably have acted a little bit more mature.

They're too good to us, people are starting to get spoiled by their generosity.

Given that he was at a festival seeing the headliner it's fairly likely he was pretty drunk.  What he did was a total dick move, but I think it's unfair to judge it as a full and accurate reflection of his character.  He's never gonna look good if he gets into a position which so many people would love and acts like a spoiled brat though.

In fairness if that guy had been Billie who was pissed off by his hero he probably would have wrestled the guitar out of the artists hands and smashed it to bits on the stage. Billie has long demonstrated his ability to react to irritation onstage.

Oh, nice reference, I think we all almost forgot about that.

About what? You seem to suggest I'm referring to one occasion.
