I chose Jesus Of Suburibia because it's the most epic and their first big one, but Dirty Rotten Bastards is pretty insane on a unique/technical level 🙂

I can't choose between 21CB and Homecoming

JOS as cliche as that answer is. Gotta love it! :D

Jesus of Suburbia, Homecoming, and Forever Now are my favorites. The other ones I don't care for as much but for me the clear winner is Jesus of Suburbia

Breakdown is far the best. The lyrics, the construction, the message. All in one. Green Day's Bohemian Rhapsody!

Damn this was tough. Really it could be any of them for various reasons. I went for Forever Now because it feels like a long song, rather than a few short songs stuck together. That said, JOS is Billie's best lyric of all time, no question.

Posted

Of course Jesus of Suburbia. I didn't even look at the other options!

I also like American Eulogy and Dirty Rotten Bastards, but no regrets, JoS is the best!

Forever Now.

It's not their best/most epic suite. But my vote was based on the fluency of the song. And FN is the most natural of all their suites. It doesn't seem that three songs are mixed together. It's fucking cool. It's the best song of the new album and it absolutely deserved to close it, instead of a meaningless Ordinary World. It was really easy to choose. Jesus Of Suburbia is overrated. Homecoming is better IMO. I also like 21st Century Breakdown a lot. But Forever Now is on another level of composition.

Jesus of Suburbia. I totally love it!!

I love all of those songs, I'm a fan of their multi-sectional songs! But it just has to be JOS. It's a masterpiece.

They all rule but no question JOS is the best written and structured and was the first and most moving one. Still done at every show so, there's that. Homecoming and Dirty Rotten Bastards kill! Don't know why 21stCB is up there, it's a bit short to be on this poll. Wish they would pull out Homecoming from time to time.

Well American Eulogy is shorter than 21CB. But both songs are multi sectional songs hence why they're on the poll

Forever Now has to be one of my all-time favorite Green Day songs at this point. All of its different pieces fit together masterfully, it has a fantastic tie-in to the opening song (I'm a sucker for albums coming full circle), and it brings together the different themes from the album.

I went with Forever Now, but I love all their multi-sectional songs. Homecoming and 21CB would probably be next on my ranking.

It was a tie between Homecoming and Forever Now for me. I chose Homecoming, because it was such a fun mix of the guys 3 different styles and ended up being an awesome song.

I'm including Somewhere Now along with Forever Now and voting for it on that basis :P, a touching and beautiful pair of songs and when the Someone Now parts are reprised in Forever Now it's just wonderful

Homecoming would be my second choice because it's so theatrical and ambitious and entertaining, I know JOS is considered the most epic but I think Homecoming matches it in epicness plus it's a little more interesting so I've always preferred it.

Have to mention how cool the Mike parts are in American Eulogy and the solos in Dirty Rotten Bastards too. Every song there is great, they've really made quite a few excellent multi part songs.

I chose Jesus of Suburbia! It just flows so well, tells a great story and features some of Billie Joe's finest lyrics and some of the band's finest musicianship. That being said, I think each suite brings something different to the table. They're all fabulous in their own way, and I enjoy every single second of each of them! I do have a soft spot for Mike's part in American Eulogy though

I do love Forever Now. However, Jesus of Suburbia was/is the most creative, powerful, and substantive track they've ever produced in my opinion. I mean the lyrics, the instrumentals, the different layers and segments are nothing short of epic. I still get chills listening to it after 12 years. Homecoming has the same characteristics and qualities that make JOS great, but JOS just hits me harder.

Jesus of Suburbia because it's the centerpiece of American Idiot and the song which elevates American Idiot above all other rock albums of the 21st Century (though the Black Parade and 21st Century Breakdown come close). A lyrical masterpiece that introduces us to the brilliant storyline of the record. Homecoming is a bit underrated in my opinion and really is a successful and satisfying ending of the story and creative with the Tré part. 21st Century Breakdown is just epic as fuck, but it can't top JoS. American Eulogy is also underrated. It think it would have done better if it had been a three part song instead of a two part track. Dirty Rotten Bastards is so good instrumentally, but the lyrics are too random and the song as a whole feels like three songlets which have not been properly fused together. Personally, Forever Now means the most to me on an emotional level and the integration and transition between the various parts, particularly between 'A Better Way to Die' and 'Somewhere Now (reprise)', is just brilliant.

I also think their cover of A Quick One (While He's Away) on the bonus versions of 21CB deserves an honorable mention. A bloody good cover, as all covers from AI and 21Cb era are.

All of them xD

I would love to see in a concert Homecoming, American Eulogy or Forever Now (I saw 21stCB and JoS)

I went with Forever Now. There's just something so triumphant sounding about it. I get a really hopeful feeling from it every time I listen...not to mention the music combined with those three-way vocals in the song's climax are, in my opinion of course, some of their best ever work!

Posted

Yeah, Forever Now is extremely uplifting. Gives me chills just like in the lyrics with every listen. My favorite of the "multi-sectional" songs right now given how new it is still.

Homecoming, without a doubt. Jesus of Suburbia is overrated. :P lol

1. Jesus of Suburbia

2. Homecoming

3. Forever Now

I chose Jesus of Suburbia, but 21st Century Breakdown would be my second pick. I can't quite describe the feeling, but it's this glorious feeling that fills me during the outro with the heroes and cons bit that always makes me feel so happy and nostalgic. :)
