AngelBlue_ Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Soundwave promoter basically confirms Green Day are going to take a long (years) break after Australia There is another tweet about it but I cant find it 1
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Soundwave promoter basically confirms Green Day are going to take a long (years) break after Australia There is another tweet about it but I cant find it Maybe they are just taking a break alright as Billie said but the guy is trying to make a bigger deal out of it to make their shows sound more significant? I dunno.
Fuzz Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Soundwave promoter basically confirms Green Day are going to take a long (years) break after Australia There is another tweet about it but I cant find it Not sure I'd go so far as to call that a confirmation. But it does line up with what most of us are expecting already, so maybe they're just making a bet that they won't tour more until the next album.
halfempty Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 It seems to me Green Day has a difficult time taking long breaks without doing something creative. Perhaps they'll do other projects like the Foxboro Hot tubs in between. 2

AJ has a habit of leaking info he's not supposed to though, and he's usually right. While I agree nothing's 100% until it comes from GD themselves, it's a strong hint.
nothing_wrong_with_me Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I think in that tweet he was referring to Australia, that it will be years till Green Day will have a show in Australia again.

While I agree nothing's 100% until it comes from GD themselves, it's a strong hint. My point being that I really doubt anyone, including Green Day, knows if it'll be "years" before the next tour. I'm sure they have some ideas or plans, but still pretty early to say anything definitive.
Heather. Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I do wonder if that guy was referring to "it'll be years till they come back to Oz" or "it'll be years till they perform a show again." because those are very different things in my book.

I'm sure they have some ideas or plans, but still pretty early to say anything definitive. The thing is you sort of know already. Wish I could be comforted by knowledge like you
Cruise Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I do wonder if that guy was referring to "it'll be years till they come back to Oz" or "it'll be years till they perform a show again." because those are very different things in my book. I don't think he was referring to that, as it is usual for the band to go long periods without touring here. So it wouldn't really be a reason to do something big. For Soundwave apparently Green Day had requested that they get a three hour set (headliners usually only get two), so they seem to be wanting to put on a big show for us out here. Overtime it seems that they have been slowly pushing for a longer set as they started off at two hours then went to two and a half, then two hours 45 minutes, then two hours 50 minutes now its finalised as three hours.
alexandra_1039 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Then again, Andres said a couple months back that it seemed they were working on something big, whatever that may mean , in my mind i automatically thought "album"..and if that were the case a tour would have to come with that?! im just rambling, so who knows, those dudes are unpredictable.
The Disappearing Boy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I expect it'll be a couple of years before they tour anywhere, so it's not that surprising really.
Liam Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I'm fairly certain "their last show for years" has just been stretched from "we're taking a break after Australia." Some people has probably interrupted that as a hiatus we're it could be 6 - 12 months where we don't hear anything from them. 1
