I delayed joining GDC for a couple of days so my join date would say 9/11. I don't even remember why.

Because #neverforget ... duh! You're a pretty good American already.

Probably so people could say me joining GDC was the worst thing to ever happen on 9/11. Kinda surprised no one has said that yet.

Is it bad I laughed? Does that make me un-Amurican?

Yes. Bad enough to get you kicked off the team ;)

Oh wow. I didn't realise Todd worked for GDA before.

I drew 9/11 on my friend's homework last year in Health. He got the dirtiest look from our teacher

So is it a thing now that Americans are over 9/11?

Not really. There are still memorial services and such and usually the first news item on that day. But not much more than that.

That's kind of what I expected, which is why I was surprised by comments like "ugh, so bored of 9/11" etc.

I legitimately get annoyed with "Remember 9/11" now. Like, oh my gosh, I had no idea what day today was until you acknowledged it on Facebook!

I don't think there's anything wrong reminding people of just how powerful the evils of our society are. And idk maybe it's cuz I'm high off my ass rn but I just think that since it was such a significant event in our history that remembering 9/11 could actually be important for reasons besides honoring the victims.

But it's been THIRTEEN YEARS. And people get all patriotic about "defending our freedom" as if 9/11 threatened that. 9/11 was a response to invasive American military behavior, not an assault on religion or our politics.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying that it's important to recognize our history. It was a tragic event that connects us all, since we were all alive for it.

It doesn't connect all of us really. A small number were affected. Its truly sad, but worst things happen every day in other parts of the world.

i meant connect all of us because we were a part of a historical event. We may never experience anything with as much historical signifance.

Which is why IMO we must not forget

And once again I'm still too high to be usin the internet so I may not be 150% clear

9/11 pales in comparison to other events in history.

Genociding the Natives is a good example, and even they don't get a holiday like 9/11 does.
