StillIDIOT Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 This afternoon, Green Day's Tour Page on Wikipedia (I know, of all places...) added Lisbon to the tour schedule on July 6. Possibly to headline NOS Alive, given that the 6th is still the only day without a headliner announced yet (Depeche Mode and Foo Fighters are headlining the 7th and 8th, respectively) and GD is confirmed to be headlining Mad Cool in Madrid, Spain on the 7th. As of now, several hours after the addition, that date can no longer be seen on the page... Was this just some troll trying to freakout portuguese fans or can this be some sort of insider information? * Just to put it out there: in 2013, both Green Day and Depeche Mode headlined this festival. Would be an interesting coincidence to see it happening again
Hermione Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Interesting! If and when it gets confirmed we'll have a thread for it in the tour section
sara_gd Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 We've been talking about the possibility of them headlining this festival in this thread. A summary of the discussion was that they could technically play it but the festival may not want to repeat the lineup from 2013. Soooo we'll see! There's also the possibility that they'd play Super Bock festival as you may see on that thread. All speculation as for now but we love speculation in this forum
solongfromthestars Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Oh man I didn't see the question mark, thought there'd been an official announcement and got way too excited for a moment
StillIDIOT Posted December 19, 2016 Author Posted December 19, 2016 The Weeknd has just been announced has the headliner for the 6th, so that pretty much rulls Green Day out ot the equation for NOS Alive. The only hope of them coming to Portugal now is Super Bock Super Rock. But given that they already announced Red Hot Chilli Peppers, don't know how much of a budget would be left to get Green Day and the rest of the acts. And SBSR is happening on July 13th, 14th and 15th of July. Don't know if that fits into GD tour schedule. There's hope, nonetheless!

It's a pity that they aren't headlining this (they're playing elsewhere on the 6th of July anyway). I don't know much about SBSR, but since Green Day haven't announced anything past July 6th (when they're in Spain) it's certainly a possibility - there are no dates that we know of that it would clash with.
StillIDIOT Posted December 19, 2016 Author Posted December 19, 2016 As far as I know, they'll be in Spain (Mad Cool Festival) on the 7th, so made all the sense if they were to headline NOS Alive on the 6th. But yeah, I'll keep myself hopeful, that's all we portuguese people can do at this point (or fly over to Spain, that's always an option too)

Can't see Green Day being billed second to The Weeknd though, so yeah, just gotta hope for SBSR!
