Hi.

It's said that Revolution Radio is the best GD album since American Idiot. Actually, I think the battle is between this two albums. Personally, I prefer Revolution Radio, because it's a really solid album and a more "artistic" one compared to 21CB. Please vote!

Rev Rad all the way.

It's so hard :D I'm afraid I'm not able to decide which one  Both are really good records in my opinion

Trilogy

Why are you people acting like these 3 albums never happened? They are superior to both 21st Century Shitshow and RevRad

I feel guilty choosing! 21CB is just extraordinary to me—it's so dynamic and paints really interesting characters. Peacemaker, Murder City, both Viva La Glorias, Restless Heart Syndrome...ugh, they're all such fantastic songs that are really inventive. The tie between Know Your Enemy and Restless Heart Syndrome is I think the most clever through line Billie has ever written.

But RevRad is so special, too, and is probably the most diverse Green Day album in terms of different sounds. To have Too Dumb to Die sound like it's straight off of Warning, Troubled Times sounding like 21CB, Revolution Radio sounding like American Idiot, and a slew of others sounding familiar with a layer of newness all on the same record is pretty fantastic. This album is a mix of all my favorite Green Day albums with something extra added. It has sharp political commentary mixed with deeply personal lyrics, and just makes me feel like they've struck the perfect balance. I think my love for this time in Green Day's career really influences how I feel about it, too—this has without question been my favorite time to be a fan. I just love everything that RevRad has given us so far.

Yeah, not choosing.

Nobody here is saying that. And if you call them superior it's your opinion as much as I prefer Shenanigans over 1039 and please don't start again with Trilogy discussion here in this thread, I mean there's no need :) Sorry, but I think this thread wasn't supposed to be about Trilogy

Very hard to pick one over the other but I must say these two albums complement each other extremely well! Been listening to Rev Rad a lot but with only 12 songs I have to switch to something else occasionally and 21st CB has been my go-to choice. They cover a lot of the same subjects and both deal with personal and social/political themes together, have quite a serious and dark vibe to them, and end on a hopeful song after the chaos, and both are brilliant albums. But while 21st CB is the most musically ambitious album they've made and very grand in scale with its acts and characters and the rest of it, Rev Rad is more low key and stripped back in its approach with no characters or fancy stuff and feels incredibly personal in a more direct way because of it. They're like two sides of the same coin.

21CB is just too good.

21CB for sure. Even though it had 3/2 the tracks RevRad has, it had less filler. Butch Vig did an awesome job so it sounds awesome, and the great songs were much better than RevRad ever gets.

I like Trilogy, especially Trè and I didn't mean to "avoid" that albums. Then, in my opinion there is no story between Dookie or Insomniac and RevRad. I would choose Dookie a thousand times... It's just the thread that is different and doesn't ask about specific albums like Trilogy or others.

Oh man that's too hard to answer. I love them equally but in completely different ways. I loved the 21CB Tour.

I really love RevRad but I had to pick 21CB. It's a lyrical masterpiece and I don't think anything can ever top it for me, definitely my favourite album of all time.

21 Century Breakdown is still the greatest album I ever heard in my life, but Revolution Radio is now competing with American Idiot as my second favorite.  RevRad does remind me a lot of 21CB.

Far too early to call, at least for me.  Ask again in about 5 years :P

Oh geez I can't decide yet. I was one of the people that absolutely loved 21CB and I love RevRad so I have no clue.

Revolution Radio. Too much filler on 21st Century Breakdown, and the filler that there is on RevRad is of higher quality than the filler on 21st Century Breakdown.

I feel like it's too early to say, but 21CB flip flops with Warning and AI as my favourite album so often that I feel like I can confidently vote for that. It's an album I gain a new appreciation for almost every time I listen to it in ways I don't with... well, any other album I can think of. It has aged really well, where I'm not so sure the trilogy has (but that's not part of this discussion). If I didn't have the nostalgia factor attached to AI, I'm pretty sure it would be solid up there locked in with Warning for top 2. RevRad is great, but not really in contention at this point

21st Century Breakdown for sure. Is The Static Age on Revolution Radio? No? Then that settles the debate. :)

(Both are great though)

21st has like 2 decent songs. I mean RevRad is shitty too but at least it has 6 good songs.

I dont why you keep posting such useless posts. Its always better to keep silence than say some bullshit

I can't decide. I'm too excited about revrad and heard 21CB way too many times. Besides, I don't like to rate and compare stuff. I just don't think that way. :P

Seriously? You think 6 out of 12 songs on RevRad are good? Then why the fuck are you always complaining about it.

Also, 2 decent songs on 21CB? Yeah you're broken

Blasphemy. 21st Century Breakdown, Before The Lobotomy, Last Night On Earth, East Jesus Nowhere, Murder City, Restless Heart Syndrome, The Static Age, 21 Guns and American Eulogy are all terrific.

If it bothers you so much make a poll for Revrad vs the Trilogy. Problem solved.

21CBD's tracks are mostly self-plagiarism. Recycled riffs and melodies from previous material. They even admitted it. Rev Rad has a lot of Green Day "cliches" but no glaringly obvious self-plagiarism that drove me crazy on 21CBD. Plus 21CBD is a little too serious and dramatic for my taste. Just my opinion.
