Jaded-view Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I didn't need any advice. I came up with my own poem and if I win I will post it here
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 @Steven Seagull I bet you have something to share.
Steven Seagull Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I sit alone in my bedroom Fapping at their posts I've been online all night long My mouse is clicking I'm masturbating I touch my dick and close my eyes and Dream about them Cause they're 2000 light years away.

I was waiting for this #art I'm officially a bad fan now because I was convinced this was Christie Road until the last line.

Maybe you should enter the contest. That work of art is hard to beat. Right, now seriously, I write poetry and I'm gonna give you some tips. Poetry comes from your feelings about whatever theme you choose. First, you got to think of a nice start. Think about what sort of poem you want. It could be illiterate, rhyming or just melodic. I like rhyming, but it's up to you. Keep this in mind: it's not very hard. I, for example, could write good poetry already about the age of 10. Just think of your favourite songs and facts about them and put them together in a poem. You could even paraphrase some of GD's verses if you want, like @Steven Seagull did, but just let your creativity flow. If you want it to be illiterate, think of words that sound alike and could make sense together, then put them in order. If you want to rhyme, remember that there are different kinds of rhyming. You can rhyme a verse with the next one, like he did in "My mouse is clicking/I'm masturbating", rhyme with a verse that comes just after the next, or even first and last of the same strophe. Also many verses in a row. To rhyme, just think of how words sound. Spelling is not that important, since it's all about the melody (not saying that you should misspell words, just that you should think of words that sound similar because it will be pleasant to the ears). You have poetic license to use figures of speech and make up some words, if necessary. The most important part is: think about the theme. Think about how it makes you feel and let it out in words. Hope this helps.

There's a competition on a local radio station to win Green Day tickets and I NEED to win. I have to come up with a poem about Green Day, such as how much I love them ( A LOT!) and it needs to sound quite poetic and rhyming and I will donate €50 to this site if I win the competition. Some of their most popular songs and lyrics would be a good idea to mention. The poem doesn't need to be very long. The competition ends on Friday [14/10/16] Someone help me please. If you were an honest person you'd come on here and say the poetry competition is a national competition on Today FM in Ireland and the prize isn't just two tickets to Green Day it's also two return flights to Oslo, hotels for two nights and 500 euro spending money. You would also say that the competition has been running all week and there has been some amazing entries from genuine people who worked really hard on their own poems. Trying to cheat by getting help from people online is really lame and offering cash is worse. Advise is one thing but the way you offered cash and suggested what you would like included in the poem looks like you want more than tips about how to rhyme verses.
spark in the night Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Aw this reminds me, when I was in 10th grade I wrote a short story inspired by Stuart and the Ave. from what I can remember it was about a struggling performance artist who went to the corner of Stuart and telegraph Ave. every day. I can't recall the rest but I got a perfect grade on it
