Just as with AI, 21stCBD and the Trilogy before. HDtracks has now officially released every album in 96khz, 24bit. Because it's from the boxed set, it's obviously not cheap. It's still pretty cool news though. Maybe eventually they'll release the separate albums. :dance:RevRad is also on there now. But not part of the set.

So, when I pick Dookie, will it make a bigger difference since it is so old, or will it be less of a difference?

If you're a subscriber to Apple Music, you will get these same masters now as an option when viewing Green Day's catalog. It obviously isn't in 96/24 (it'd be 44.1/16, compressed at 256kbps).  You can also purchased them via iTunes as well.

Well it's the masters without any CD compression. :) It's near vinyl quality. So yeah I think it'd make a huge difference.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but do these HD tracks fix the problem of some song parts (beginning of Bang Bang) being so low you can barely hear it and then speaker blowingly loud?

No problem. But actually I think that's honestly how the song was recorded. So odds are if the song was recorded like that, the HD tracks version will probably be the same. The HD tracks masters are the same as the other releases. They just sound better cause they have higher bit and sample rates. They're essentially what was originally recorded in the studio. Untouched. Uncompressed.

@chrism17 A spectral and waveform look at the song reveals that it is indeed how Bang Bang was recorded.

I'm not reaaally an audiophile, but is there that much of an audible difference with the HDtracks albums?

Oh yes. Hell yes. Once you hear how different American Idiot sounds compared to the standard CD version, you'll never go back. Same goes for 21stCBD and the Trilogy. The best way I can describe it to you is if someone covered your ears with tin cans (CD versions), and then took em away (HDtracks versions). That compression sheen that was added to the CD masters is gone. You're gonna hear exactly what was recorded in studio. :) They will make an audiophile of you haha.

Do you need high end headphones to hear the difference? I mostly use a Bluetooth speaker for my music. Will I hear the difference

To listen on speakers, I would recommend something more high-end. Something more advanced would be able to discern all the instrumentals more clearly. For headwear such as earphones, and headphones I would think the same rules apply. But honestly I use regular old Sony earbuds from Walmart, and I can still hear the difference. :) It all depends on you man.

Thanks ! I'll give it a try and see if I hear the difference
