Met Fan Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Cause they're amazing! I don't know if I went to sleep for too long that when I woke up the definition of "lyric video" has changed but lyric videos were never that cool, they were actually a lame ass phenomena that youtube has brought on to us and it made artists lazy and record companies cheap when it came to making promotional videos. But dang it these 4 videos we got from Rev Rad are so damn cool! The animation, the direction, the themes and the flow of the images and words, I just love it!
Sixtrix Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I fully agree. There's so much going on in each 4 of the videos. And they all have a different feel that fits perfectly with the vibe of the songs. Translating the song perfectly into image. They could easily be official music videos.
Liam Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Check the description of each YouTube video and it tells you exactly who made each one All made by someone different.
Met Fan Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 Liam they're not well known or frequent Green Day collaborators but yeah I should have been clearer about my question being more rhetoric
Hermione Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I also agree, they're so well done! I don't follow enough bands to know how much of a thing this is but Muse also released loads of excellent quality lyric videos for their album last year. I think youtube/online videos becoming such an important part of promotion these days (as opposed to when it was mostly just wanting a video for a single on TV) is leading to more and more effort being put into music videos in general, and the lack of restriction online compared to on TV is making them more and more creative, so I guess that's also leading to better lyric videos. Really pleased to see Green Day going with it! They're all great but my favourite of the four so far is Revolution Radio because of how awesomely similar to 21st CB it is. And the tree vagina puts Youngblood over the top too . I'm hoping for more, would be amazing if they did the whole album.
okotavio Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Green Day has allowed me to discover these amazing artists who are making the lyric videos and I'm loving motion design all over again 💕 the one from the Bang Bang video has an amazing portfolio. Go check them out!

21guns&novacaine Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Thought the videos were great. The color scheme of Bang bang reminded me of something off an old punk concert flyer, and it actually flows pretty well with the 'in your face, this is how it's gonna be' feeling of the video. All four are great! Get a give of a 21st Century Breakdown vibe from the animated graffiti style.
Maid Meringue Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Isn't the person who did the Bang Bang video a member of the forum? I adore that video, and would have been content if they just used it as an official video.
Met Fan Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 Bang Bang is amazing, the lyric video is easily much superior to the actual live video IMO. I agree with Hermione about the elements of similarity between Rev Rad video and 21st CB, very cool.
