More like "why aren't any rock artists crossing over anymore", since hardly any are these days....and the few that do are largely hybridized with dance/electronic elements. Also, the first line "Once upon a time it was weird to hear Green Day on pop radio" are they talking pre-Dookie? 'Cause I'm prettyu sure that When I Come Around, Basket Case etc got plenty of Top 40 play.
