  1. I realize I'm in the minority but I love Corvette Summer and am SO stoked Mark Hamill is going to be in this.

  3. They make arguably their best album since 2009 and decide to release THIS song as a single? What an odd choice 😅.

  5. I forgot yesterday, yet again. So 15 years ago yesterday (18 July 2009), Green Day played in Montreal, Canada on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 33 years ago yesterday (18 July 1991), Green Day played in Olympia, WA. ------------------------------------------------ On this day 22 years ago (19 July 2002), Green Day played in Cardiff, Wales on the Warning Tour. There were a few other shows on 18 and 19 July but there aren't any photos and most don't even have known setlists, so unless someone really wants to know about them, I'll just skip them for now.

  6. Can't believe I'm saying this because I hated it until I heard it live, but Bobby Sox. Specifically the shitty audio from Lyon. It's a bop and that was the best performance I heard. I knew all the lyrics not because I'd been willingly listening to it, but because my girlfriend wouldn't shut the fuck up and... well, it turned out I actually enjoyed singing along to it, so I've got to thank her for annoying me with that song after all. But my all time favourite Green Day song? 8th Avenue Serenade, of course. It is my username. Saaaaay so long from the stars!

  9. Based on streams Suzie Chapstick should have gotten the video/single treatment…still think that Suzie and father to a son had the best chance for crossover appeal…..Dilemma and Bobby Sox should have been pushed and promoted more…hopefully because of Dilemma’s success on Rock Charts it and the album will get some Grammy love

  10. I came across this bit of info, not sure how legitimate it is. What do you guys think? https://www.bbfc.co.uk/release/greenday-20-years-of-american-idiot-q29sbgvjdglvbjpwwc0xmdixnda1

  11. Yeah should have actually promoted Bobby Sox. Every non-fan I’ve showed it to loves it. Great summer song and overall strong song.

  12. Making a thread to link to the GDA article. https://www.greendayauthority.com/news/6167/ "You're going to have the most turbo-charged, chrome-plated, plush-lined, high-gloss, super-speed customized time of your life. The Corvette Summer music video comes out next Tuesday, July 23rd at 10am PT. Starring Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool, Mike Dirnt, Mark Hamill, Hannibal Buress, and a whole lot more."

  13. Definitely hyped for this. This song was instantly catchy upon the first listen. Instant classic Green Day song all around. And that cowbell…chef’s kiss. And this increases the chances of us seeing it live on the U.S. tour 😎

  14. I recognized the boy, but would have never recognized the girl. Last time I saw a picture of her she was like 4 or 5? When they were sharing Mike's wife cancer journey. So obviously I thought she was no older than 7 now 😅 I feel ancient now 😂

  16. Kinda hoping this means the Australian tour is gonna be around that time considering they have a history of doing Japan shows around the same time as Australia

  18. Also, one last suggestion, but there's also the book "Green Day: Photographs" by Bob Gruen. It's not really a book you read, it's mostly just pictures of the band, but it is extremely cool. It has photos of the band throughout the years, from live shows and all sorts of stuff. It does also have some background information about the photos and where they were taken and all that cool stuff, written by Bob Gruen (the photographer) and the rest of the band. I bought it when it came out and I still love to look through it every so often. https://www.amazon.com/Green-Day-Photographs-Bob-Gruen/dp/1419734806 I've owned it for a while now (since like middle school) but I never got around to finishing it. I think I tried reading it in like seventh grade and never finished it. I really need to check it out again ever since I got back into reading. Thanks for reminding me to dig it up and read it already!

  19. Not technically a biography, but he has something pretty similar. In 2021 he did an audiobook/podcast for Audible's Words + Music series, which features a basic run through of his life, the writing process of each album, and then in between there's acoustic renditions of Green Day songs. It's an extremely insightful and neat listen. Super enjoyable if you're a fan of Billie. It used to be on YouTube but I think it got taken down. It's on Audible if you have that, but if you not, you can find it on greenday.fm for free (scroll down and find the section entitled "Welcome to My Panic (2021)") https://greenday.fm/audio/limited-releases/ I also wish BJA would write a book, it would be super awesome.

  22. It’s nice to have a new music video! Just wished it wasn’t Corvette Summer, one of the weakest song from the album. Still better than nothing 😀

  23. I'd love a Strange Days Are Here to Stay video, almost feels like you could single out that song and it would be good representative of the album as a whole thematically.

  29. I wonder what they would cut for it. Maybe get rid of another Saviors song for it? Or possibly another one of the random singles they play. I wish it would be Know Your Enemy they cut but I doubt it considering they seem to love playing it.

  32. Just want to add that Nobody Likes You is an amazing book. One of the few times I was totally enthralled in a book. I loved the way he wrote and the stories he told. Very highly recommend for any fans who haven't read it.

  33. Will put them on my list! I know Billie Joe isn't *big* on writing (besides songwriting) but I'd love for him to do an autobiography, or to have a AB ghost written, or done through a series of interviews. It'd be fucking amazeballs.

  34. I've heard lots of good things about Sellout by Dan Ozzi, which features a chapter on Green Day. I haven't read it myself but I've heard lots of interviews and podcast eps with the author and he seems like he knows his stuff. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0063269147/?coliid=I3B55175NUNNYZ&colid=23WX7YE52D718&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it

  38. I don’t think it’ll be in theatres at all, the BBFC website says VOD (Video on Demand)/Streaming and physical media only. It would be super cool to see in theatres though, and then again that is only for the UK release of the film, so we never know what we might get over in North America.

  46. Sorry for the absence, I went to see a mate in Wales and had a bird on my head. A year ago today (16 July 2023), Green Day played the Festival d'été de Québec in – you guessed it – Quebec, Canada. More photos: 12 years ago (2012), the Oh Love lyric video was released, making it the first studio version we heard from the trilogy. I remember rushing into the GDC thread to say I never wanted to forget how I felt the first time I heard the bridge. Probably have forgotten though. 15 years ago (2009), Green Day played in Hamilton, Canada on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. More photos: 24 years ago (2000), Green Day played in Asbury Park, NJ on the Warped Tour. And 30 years ago (1994), they played in St. Louis, MO on the Dookie Tour.
