  1. Just throwing another prediction out there, but I don’t think any of the zombie/horror themes are in any way related to Halloween and instead will have more to do with the title “The American Dream Is Killing Me” with allusions to how modern America feels like some sort of waking nightmare, hence the zombies/general visuals we’ve seen thus far. If that ends up being true, color me doubly excited as this would increase the likelihood that we might be looking at another political record, or at the very least a record with some of that in it. Also yeah, the sound of the production from the clips we’ve heard so far are very promising! I love how full and big everything sounds so far

  2. Money Money 2020 pt. II runs laps around FOAM. Ding ding. Maybe that in combination with Green Day leaning into some horror punk influences? We do know how much he loves The Misfits.

  3. Come on guys, we know NOTHING about the album, how are we supposed to judge one song if it would fit or not in album that we literally know nothing aside from the thematic of one song(American dream or whatever it’s the name)? Also, 1981 was recorded in a shitty quality so relax 😅😅

  4. The fact that we're wondering whether the first song we ever hear from the album is "filler" is honestly not a good sign I know the first song/single we hear from an album isn't always the best but I honestly wouldn't consider any of their lead singles to be filler. And ik 1981 might not be the lead single but still, a bad sign

  5. Religion breeds violence these people are killing in the name of a god they don't even know exist or not, same here in america with Christianity especially the right wing hypocrites who worship an orange blob of shit who's more demonic than anything else trump is the closest thing we will ever see to hitler whenever he's convicted get ready to see our own homegrown terrorist strikes here in the United States it's coming

  6. Maybe the album isn't a zombie theme, but they're using it on the lead single as a metaphor on the current state of America, idk. And coincidly it's Zombie day on the month of the release date, so maybe that's why they're doing the zombie video

  7. Can't wait til we have something proper to talk about. Like after we get an actual song, album announcement, album tracklist etc. It's cool that we're getting these teasers but yeah, I'm really just waiting until we actual hear something. Like we haven't really even heard any of Billie's vocals in any of the teasers (except maybe a backing vocal or something in one of the old teasers). I'm really curious what Billie's gonna sound like on this album. I hope they have him sound different to how he's been sounding recently like on FOAM, Longshot, RevRad etc.

  8. Do you actually enjoy being here? It seems you’re always angry.

  9. Let’s call it for what it is, a bunch on Nazis whose sole aim is the eradication of the Jews and Israel. Anyway, can’t wait for the new record.

  10. This whole situation in recent years has a lot of similarities with the situation from 20 years ago: - Warning - didn't get the best reviews and generally was considered a weird era for the band, same goes for Father of All - they did Pop Disaster tour with Blink and couple of other bands; they did the Hella Mega tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy - both serving basically the same cause - a greatest hits tour to prove they're still the best and relevant and to raise some bucks - The Network records - just doing something for fun before the big explosion - American Idiot - well, we know what happened after that I'm really not superstitious, but it would be really cool if they would manage to pull of a third ''comeback'' and take on the world one more time (whatever that would mean in today's time of streaming, trap beats on every corner, bizarre Taylor Swift mania and pretty much no real rock bands with balls getting recognized on a global scale. I won't even mention the Grammys).

  11. I think they started saying 1972 simply because of their birth year, and then had a Trilogy train of thought like "hey, that could be an album name". But unlike 2012 Green Day, they decided to keep workshopping it and working on songs. I bet it wasn't even that the six songs weren't firing on a trillion cylinders, but more that Billie mined a massive idea out of the process and said hey, we may have found an Idiot buried under here. Can we vault the work we've done and make this cohesive record that I am now envisioning? Also, they are an album band. Eps are stupid and annoying, only one rung above live albums and demos (shutters). It's possible they did this intentionally - working on an EP of whatever to spark the creative juices.

  12. Depends on which theme you are basing that opinion on. From a technological perspective possibly. Economically definitely not. The 90s were a better time to be alive. We’ve been on a steady decline as a society since the mid 2000s.

  13. 1981 is definitely on the record, they wouldn’t be working on a song on the studio and then also playing it live just to scrap it. What makes me confused is why they chose to play it instead of the upcoming single. Feels like a random choice if there’s any political arc/general story on the record, which makes me assume there isn’t. Imagine if the first song off American Idiot they ever played live was Extraordinary Girl?

  14. Not sure, as they’ve proven some of their records can just be a grab bag with no central theme, I’m more so thinking for this single. Is 1981 confirmed to be on the album? To me, I’m assuming if it is it’ll be rewritten because what we heard was lacking a few cylinders so to speak 😅

  15. Clearly Trump is the head of the Zombie Nation and he is turning idiots into followers who are now zombies as well. The Rebel Nation must fight to wake up all the idiot zombies from living the “American Dream” that is killing them, unknowingly living a nightmare (the current state of the USA) The Rebel Nation will have a leader… The Savior.

  16. I’m so excited for a proper headlining tour, I’m also assuming it’ll be longer sets which means less “greatest hits and that’s it” setlists

  17. The drums in the American Dream teaser already sound epic!!!!

  18. I think these clips that they put related to 1972 there's no relation with the real new upcoming album. So 1981 will not be on the new album as well as most of the songs shown in these clips

  20. I didn’t say that. But life is objectively better than mostly any other time in history. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t many issues to fix, of course.

  21. And we already have a clip of the studio version, without vocals of course, but it sounds much better!!!

  22. Because as we all know, American institutions are alive and well

  23. The “1981” is a b-side option is the best case scenario. Maybe they scrapped it with the 1972 project and just played it for fun. Sort of like when they dropped Cigarettes and Valentines live randomly years later. Maybe copium, but 1981 also doesn’t seem to fit the rest of the theming we are seeing.

  24. The way the song start strong feel like the continuation of a song. American Dream / 1981

  25. Sanity Loan was thereeeee Sanity Loan was thereeeee No 1981 was on the cancelled record. We might see it on the new Foxboro album called “Three Time’s A Charm!” I truly love your ability to take silly concepts and intertwine them with actual real opinions.

  26. So they seem to be done with the 1972 theme... Wonder what happened there

  27. I did an outreach event at an elementary school yesterday night on behalf of my university's entomology department where I let kids meet, learn about, and handle live arthropods. We brought our Madagascar hissing roaches, Vietnamese stick insects, black widow, baby emperor scorpion, tailless whip-scorpion (her name is Taylor Swift because people often think we are saying "Taylor Swift scorpion" when we say "tailless whip-scorpion"), and my personal favorite, our tarantula named Curly Sue. We did not let children handle the widow, emperor, tarantula (she's a sweet baby, so it was more for her safety because if she were to be dropped she would die. They could pet her, though.), or the whip-scorpion (only because she gets scared easily and runs very fast. She's literally harmless). Now that you have context, you know you're a Green Day fan when you come home and wonder about how the Green Day boys would react to these critters. I know Mike has at least posted pictures of a tarantula in his yard before, but I don't know if he's actually a fan of them. No idea about Billie or Tré. Would they be comfortable petting Curly Sue or holding a hissing roach?

  28. I was thinking maybe that's why they played 1981 so early, because it's not being used for the album anymore. Kinda makes sense.

  29. If this album is a zombie theme then how does 1981 play into that?

  30. Not loving the new hair in that video either but he still looks good. Blonde Billie gives me serious brotherly vibes...black Billie...

  31. It's not even the same riff, it's played differently. millions of songs use the same chords and progressions. Basket Case uses the same chord progression as One of My Lies, one of many examples of GD songs that do that. Every band has those examples. Lukie is good at being negative about pretty much everything, when hes not demanding the "source" for every little thing someone says in here.

  32. Personally, I would love if Billie Joe recorded an acoustic record and went on a solo tour (with Jason White on second guitar). He could tell stories between each song. I remember in 2015, I won tickets to see Billie Joe play the Geezer film wrap up party, and Idiot Club had it labeled as BJA acoustic. I was so excited, but it was just Green Day full band (also cool 😂).

  35. Omg we're so close to the new era! The teaser sounds cool but I'll save my judgement until the full release. I may be ready for the new GD era...but my wallet isn't 🤣

  36. Appreciation post for this teaser campaign, love how they are handling things this time (so far), it’s getting me super hyped And also appreciation post for not having a ballad/smth in that direction as first single 🙃 Gonna base this on the few facts we have: - Cavallo/production golden team is back - Not rushed release - Explicit political/social commentary in the song title and related promotion - Good/well thought promotion production value -Teasers content in a 00’s GD sound style -Relatively fast/marching sound of the website teaser -Zombie music video (ready for Halloween) YES I AM FUCKING HYPED

  37. Seems like a needlessly cynical way of looking at it. Songs get chopped up, reworked and reused all the time, that's just how it works. The end result and the Interrupters song you're referencing will be two very distinct songs.

  42. That would be awesome. It's back in 1996 when the band recorded an acoustic session. The live performance at Shoreland Amphitheatre, Mountain View, California, 18 amazing acoustic tracks. Thankfully later released on bootleg CD. Of course no stories between tracks. But way overdue another acoustic session please. So gotta mention Welcome to My Panic with Billie Joe telling us his very emotional life story interspersed with remixed classics, some of them being acoustic. Maybe a WTMP2. Must mention Billie Joe's guitar playing diversity, he's amazing on Foreverly album. I hope @That Dude didn't read this for your sake.

  45. Many bands still release new music even with their members well in their 60s or even further. Billie Joe has said that the only way one of them leaves the band is in a coffin. Of course, many things can happen but as of right now it's entirely possible for them to be doing music until they are physically unable to. Even after that, they would probably become a legacy band and keep releasing outtakes, rare songs, etc.

  46. I don’t understand coming to a Green Day fan site and taking time out of your day to just complain and be cynical, what kind of life is that
    1 point
  47. Agreed, I think that's just a generic instrumental and not anything Green Day related

  48. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. AKA checking GDA every morning thinking I'll learn something about the album and not just read 3 pages of nonsense that actually just makes me dumber
