  1. California and Nine respectively have performed much better than Revolution Radio and Father of All, not just in sales but in streaming numbers too Revolution Radio had first week sales of 95,000 (90,000 from pure album sales) California had first week sales of 186,000 (172,000 from pure album sales) Father of All had first week sales of 48,000 units (42,000 from pure album sales) Nine had first week sales of 94,000 units (77,000 pure album sales) California has total spotify streams of 671.2 million (only including the standard version of the album), with the most streams coming from Bored to Death (153m) and She's Out of Her Mind (125m) Revolution Radio has total of 400.7 million, with the most streams coming from Still Breathing (102m) and Bang Bang (83m) Nine has streams of 314.4 million, with I Really Wish I Hated You (59m) and Darkside (55m) being the strongest streamers Father of All has streams of 139 million, with the title track (37m) and Oh Yeah (33m) being the strongest performers Bang Bang's music and lyric videos total 33 million views on YouTube Still Breathing totals 48 million views Bored to Death totals 51 million views She's Out of Her Mind totals 33 million views too Father of All music video has 10 million views Oh Yeah has 7.3 million I Really Wish I Hated You lyric video only has 7.4 million views But Darkside has 20 million views Regardless of how poor sales or streams are for rock bands now, blink's newest albums have been performing better than Green Day's in pretty much every aspect. Sales, streams, singles Nobody's making the argument that blink has been more successful in their lifetime than Green Day has but since 2016, yeah their albums have performed better and I don't even think there's an argument to be had here. Father of All on streaming has performed basically as bad as an album from a rock band of Green Day's size can. Nobody is listening to that album anymore. People are listening to Uno more than Father of All, even though that was an unsuccessful album from over a decade ago. I wouldn't be surprised if Dos and Tré end up outperforming FOAM

  2. I love the fact that Mark is in contact with their fans on the Blink 182 discord server, talking and teasing them. At least their getting something. Tomorrow Billie is gonna go to sleep so another month without news.

  3. Despite those numbers I’ve heard more new Green Day songs on alt radio than Blink’s with the exception of Blame it on my youth which got into the rotation just as much. Even Edging is very weak in the rotation tbh. Atleast here where I am. Oh Yeah had more consistent plays even. The margins you shared are also slim. Foamf was a covid record with limited promotion. I think both bands will see a boost in numbers with their upcoming albums. Green Day is taking their time which will increase demand. It feels like we havent had anything in 10 years so if they come out with songs with a decent tempo they will get a solid response again. there will always be trends, peaks and valleys but long-term theres no competition. Billie will always be a better songwriter than Mark and Tom, GD is a tighter live band and Green Day stirs it up more publicly. Blink is gimmicky, they’re pro reality television (hey Mark how was your tv show!?!) and Travis Kardashian gets them a lot of casual attention. With all this attention, fame and fortune theyre not even considered for any honors. Blink has a single Grammy nomination, Green Day had more than 1 in their first year of being eligible. From an industry standpoint Green Day stands among the legends as a serious group that contributed to a generational counter culture shift. Blink is another pop punk band that’s come and gone on repeat several times. Even Tim Armstrong has more grammies than them as a band and he never got that commercial success they had. I’m sure Travis probably has a few though in his other projects though.

  5. I suppose it’s a great billboard, but not a great picture of Billie to me. I wonder if he likes it, bet he gets lots of ribbing from friends and family over it 😁

  6. People talking about how lucky blink fans are that they're getting something even though Edging was released like 10 months ago and the album is still not out yet. I would not prefer to have gotten a lead single months ago if it meant it would be another year before we got to hear the rest of the album. Especially if it was a track as mediocre as Edging is

  13. jackryansullivan @beckettrex and I played a show last night opening for Belinda Carlisle, and low and behold one of my musical heroes was there cheering us on. ‘Dookie’ by GreenDay was the very first album I ever bought with my own money as a kid. So awesome finally getting to meet you, @mikedirnt and you too, @batmansmom https://www.instagram.com/p/CwX3GCUrj55/

  16. Listening to 21CB and I just keep thinking to myself regardless of the level of songwriting (which I'm actually still hopeful for after 1981 despite what some are saying) I am so excited for another record engineered by Chris Dugan at Ocean Way with CLA mixing - and of couse Rob Cavallo producing the thing. One of my favourite things about listening to Nimrod through to 21st Century, as a freelance producer/engineer, is being able to turn them up loud on a really nice monitoring system and aurally gawk at the pristine production. There was a Gearspace thread back in the day where Dugan answered a whole load of questions about mics, preamps etc etc on 21CB and to have a new record equally massive sounding to geek out about and give me new reference tracks for mixing would be such a great thing. I might've posted almost this exact thing in here before but alas that's how much I'm looking forward to this

  17. We have Dookie 30 at the end of the month, so give it maybe 1 or 2 weeks after that, and I think we'll have a new single by mid October
