  1. Yeah and if you were around here online during that time there was almost like a feeling that they were just gonna say “fuck it lets trickle out the songs and eventually release them”. I’d honestly take it now over a new album. We got God’s Favorite Band now we need a modern day Shenanigans. I don’t think the songs are as bad as some people are thinking they are. It’s just that American Idiot is that much better. I would assume stacked against everything post-21cb that c&v has to be better. Their so-called “decline” at the time was more about reaching audiences not indicative of the quality of their songwriting.

  5. It was always baffling to me that they played C&V twice on that tour, added it to Awesome As Fuck and then never mentioned it again.

  9. I thought it was a really interesting article, Larry still asks the best questions, possibly because he has known them so long. We have always known Billie keeps an eye on the crowd, but that was so interesting about his rationale for throwing in hey oohs which I know a lot of us wish he would do less of.

  12. Yep, they do have some similarities. I wonder if Billie drew inspiration from that song?

  13. Same. It reminds me of „more than a feeling“ by Boston

  14. I remember those times well. They were exciting until we were left blue balled, and not for the first time. And totally agree that whatever those songs sounded like back then, they're likely as good as or better than everything after 2009

  15. Yup and they have mentioned the vault many times. Mike has mentioned eventually sharing it. We will hear C&V and those sessions one day for sure. I’ve never ever had a doubt in my mind about that. It’s just a matter of when. Honestly there was so much momentum for C&V around the time of Awesome As Fuck. 2011 would have been a perfect time to do it. Instead they rushed into the trilogy and Billie lost his head. C&V could have bought Billie some much needed time. Viva La Gloria is 2 songs

  16. - Viva La Gloria - Rusty James - Dirty Rotten Bastards - X-Kid - Too Dumb To Die - Forever Now are some of my favourite tracks in post-American Idiot albums. Hopefully we will have more to add to this list with the new album.

  17. Right. Were spending so much of our lives not hearing this stuff from the vault. Why do we have to wait 30 plus years give or take to get the really good stuff. I’m going to be 70 and finally hearing the demos from American Idiot and 21st Century for the first time.

  18. So what's everybody listening to while we wait for this to come out? Tonight I'm using Fenix TX to sooth my 1972 anxiety. Also trying to find a new great band. https://www.solidstatelogic.com/media/rob-cavallo-captures-big-studio-sound-with-big-six

  21. I mean based on the way popular music has gone over the past 15-20 years this should have been album of the year then lol Wasnt it like 2011 when Kanye made an album with bass that sounded like a broken subwoofer for the whole album? Someone around that time told me that was one of the best albums ever made. Society loves shit.

  24. And after Warning C&V was set for 2003 I think its just more of how things were progressing at the time he was asked.

  25. More excited about a 30th anniversary dookie edition with that session's versión of Christie road, remastered dookie demos with jar and haushinka and Road to acceptance, only of you and dominated LOVE salve live versions from st. Petersburg, Florida, than for a new record with songs like pollyana or foam

  27. Only possible similarity could be the description from Aaron Cometbus in his book, "in China with GD". He described the 21st C Asia tour in 2010, as an entourage. With all the engineers, security, catering staff and many others, akin to a travelling circus. But wow, Quebec could be something really special. And you will be there. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be amazing, and you will enjoy every minute. Hopefully, you will be able to give us a full account. Subject to your levels of alcoholic consumption. 😏
