  1. Green Day will be the focus of 1973.

  2. It bothers me that of all the people that always ask Billie stuff in social media, he choses to answer something that would bring even more doubts and concerns among the fans. We are one year without any clue from a project that the band decided to share with all of us in 2021, and then, after 12 months of silence and people wondering what happened, he just says that the thing is dead... Cmon Green Day sometimes is their worst enemy... Terrible mkt, not a single interation on social media and random answers confusing everybody... Why?

  4. Because it's nonsense that shouldn't get attention. The album is coming in 2024 and the mods have been hinting at a side project coming soon. Doesn't sound like a breakup to me

  6. We don't have any inside info about the band, don't worry! I'm sure that's nonsense. Nothing about the post indicates the band breaking up, at worst it indicates they scrapped an album. Could also be something less dramatic (eg they've just changed the name) and BJA is messing with us.

  8. Someone on that Reddit thread says they have a source from the band that this coming album will be their last. Man that would be sad.

  9. 1972 being dead makes sense. It seems like it started as one thing and it evolved into another and it won't be called 1972 (which I thought we knew). I'm not buying into the whole this is their last album until I hear it come from the band themselves. Also... the Blink opinions in this thread I do agree though that Edging isn't great. It was fun song live, but I haven't listened to it since its release.

  12. How are they supposed to debunk that? Like, even if the band was planning on breaking up, how likely is it that any of the mods would even know that?

  13. It‘s just impatience talking. We’ve been waiting for this thing since 2021!!! All baseless claims just so they have something to talk about in this thread!!! Same as the baseless claims about Billie’s alleged vocal cord surgery!!!

  15. Posted by Jason in the Discord thread: "It was confirmed long ago (January I think) that it wasn’t going to be called 1972, which is why many months ago this thread was renamed from 1972 discussion to album 14 discussion. Even as recently as May the album still didn’t have a title - “nothing has stuck” was what I was told." https://discord.com/channels/252988599690199041/975433938539544637

  16. I think it was just some random troll being a dick!!! Notice how it got 10 downvotes!!! I'm pretty sure @Sanity Loan or @pacejunkie punk could debunk that

  18. Things get canned, its not necessarily a bad thing… Would there have been an American Idiot, if there was the Cigarettes and Valentines album ?

  22. The teasing stopped because they finished recording. Nothing has been scrapped… the album is done.

  24. From @hasitleaked: "I’ve been sent Green Day studio material this weekend all marked 2023. Whoever claims these are from the upcoming album is wrong. They might float around soon and all I can say is that they are rehashed, old stuff. I checked with the label. @GreenDay"

  25. Wouldn't hate it if they revisited the Jesus Christ Supermarket concept. I mean for the artwork alone

  26. I feel we’re partly responsible for killing off 1972. 🔪 Maybe ‘72 was just the friends we made along the way! 🤗

  27. The fact that any of the Mods haven’t debunked that breaking up rumor just scares me 😟

  29. If this is their last album then all that talk about staying in this band until they are dead meant nothing….I highly doubt that’s true why would they have this be their final album….if any insiders can debunk this please do we will have 300 pages worth of breakup speculation

  30. '1972 is dead' is the album's name. No this is not the last album. Even if Billie says it, The Reverend Strychnine Twitch doesn't believe it.

  33. California was by far their best album since take off your pants and jacket in my opinion. I didn‘t like their latest single and Tom is terrible live tbh…. but „1972“ only confirms its not the album title like mentioned before here. We‘ll see whats gonna happen in the next few months

  34. That's worse though. Releasing the single like a year before you release the album. Not to mention that blink song is shit. Like their worst single

  35. I'm sorry. With the latest story on here that 1972 is dead, I'd assumed it was referring to the docudrama raised last year? As @nopride84 has pointed out they are not related as I thought. I must have got confused with something else. I withdraw what I said. Apologies for causing any misunderstanding.

  36. What Blink-182 opinion? Jason White's interview got weird when the guy asked about the end of Green Day. Jason is slow to answer a lot, as if he is calculating how much Green Day juice he is allowed to give, and he ain't the main squeezer nor juicier. The end of Green Day is not something he thinks about is what he said. But it sounded like the question struck him pretty hard. I think we're okay. If Green Day split, I guess the Viagra Boys would become my favorite band still active.

  38. So who is in favour of abandoning this thread and starting a ‘new’ new Green Day album thread ? Speak now or forever hold your peace l, or you can hold your piece too i guess.

  39. Why should they do that Yea bc its dumb, i mean it doesnt make sense

  40. I really like Edging. It's better than Not Now, Home Is Such a Lonely Place, Happy Days, I Really Wish I Hated You and Not Another Christmas Song. It is worse though. Edging has been out forever and absolutely no other information about the album has been released. Blink-182 scrapped a whole album made with Matt Skibba, which is crazy. They are playing some of the old Skiba songs live, which is almost as wild as Green Day playing something from FOAM. Will they include a Skiba song on an album alongside Tom? That would be really awesome of them to do so. But back to 1972.........we have nothing.

  41. I always wondered why the Hella Mega Tour was scheduled the way it was. And this was before we even knew Covid was coming!! We got the single in September 2019, and the album came out in February 2020, and the tour already wasn't going to start until the 2020 summer!!!

  46. To be fair, it’s hard to think the band also don’t want to maximise revenue It’s just fans

  47. in reality its the opposite yeah, most "big international bands" have contracts and cant freely decide when to release their work they write new music, record it etc, but in the end its up to the music label when to release it, depending on promotion/tour/money, in the end its all about $$ there are "big" bands who are working independent and can release music when they want to, but not green day i guess
