  1. Your right that the song was originally for the movie which was perfect and fitted the storyline. But imho, I think 'Ordinary World' was a perfect even essential end to Rev Rad. This album was no different to all the other GD albums. Awesome music with thought provoking lyrics. As always Billie Joe's lyrics are like a smack in the face. Track 10, 'Troubled Times' as well as being an amazing song, the lyrics and particularly the video, which scared the shit out of me. It's still relevant today as it was when released in 2016. You could say it's timeless, that song would fit any time over past 100 years. My mind is locked into these troubled times were going through, thinking what the fuck is going on. As 'Forever Now' comes to an end, and say that was it, I would sense a vacuum, something missing. 'Ordinary World' is a perfect ending; calming, reality escaping, for a few minutes. I can't believe Billie Joe would just chuck a song on an album to make up the numbers. No way; there's a reason for 'Ordinary World' being where it is, a purpose. It's his choice. Nice one Billie Joe x.

  2. I'm excited to see what kind of stuff they include with the 20 page booklet that comes with this. I hope it's not just photos, although some unreleased studio photos would be pretty cool. With the Ramones 40th anniversary sets the booklets included stuff written by the producers who worked on those albums, I would love to see Rob write something for the booklet, I kinda doubt the band would write something for it but an interview would be cool

  3. Don’t agree, think they bring all the clamour and madness to an end nicely.

  4. I will not tolerate any hate aimed towards Ordinary World and The Forgotten.

  5. The main reason these songs don't get released is that they don't fit the sound of the current album or project, but that doesn't mean they aren't great songs. When It's Time sat around for almost twenty years before seeing an official release. Good Riddance had to wait a while too. What these songs have in common with what we've heard of these fabled songs like Olivia, Minnesota Girl, Dreamcatcher, etc. is that they're all beautiful ballads that aren't typically "Green Day" in that you can't put more than one like that on an album. I suspect he writes a lot of songs like these that he doesn't know what to do with. A solo album of all these ballads and others that are likely out there would be something as amazing and interesting as the Foreverly album. He has such a beautiful soft voice for ballads we don't get to hear it enough.

  6. The only time I appreciated The Forgotten was in that scene in Cuatro where Tom Kitt is conducting the orchestra part and you can hear the melody being played with this beautiful arrangement and it sounds so lovely and I’m thinking man, Billie should be so proud he wrote this gorgeous melody. It’s perfect by itself as an orchestral piece. Then the piano and lyrics and drums come in and just kill it like a car crash.

  7. I know, right? I was gong to defend them earlier, but went and listened to The Forgotten instead, haha. Both are Green Day classics. Don't look away from the arms of love. Oh Man.

  8. Damn - both would have been better without them. Whimper endings to otherwise good albums.

  11. Dreamcatcher will and can be added….Good Riddance, When It’s Time, Haushinka all were released late plus most fans love Dreamcatcher

  12. We really need to let go of old, unreleased songs. There is a reason they weren't released, or even properly recorded.
    3 points
  13. Not sure why people always bring up Dreamcatcher as a possible song for a new album. It's like 13 years old now at this point. If it wasn't gonna be on the trilogy or even RevRad, it's just not going to be released. Maybe if they end up doing another Shenanigans type album or something but not for a new studio album. Same with Cigarettes & Valentines, we already have the live version of that track, they won't re-record it

  14. Honestly save Dreamcatcher and all that shit for the big Archive Boxset we're getting in 20 years. As far as vocal glitches go, there's quite a few that appear throughout the trilogy. Very weird, but I've grown to like them lol.

  15. I've never heard that before... Weird It's at the very start of the line. Listen very carefully when Billie says "Another". You can hear some weird random vocal or effect or something in the background. I'm not really sure what it is

  16. Sorry it's January 13th This source is legit. Not the first time keevieK said something like this. Just go see his profile.

  17. Nah pretty sure he already mixed it. It's so weird to me that the album has been done for so long now. I understand why they'd want to wait til the best opportunity to release it but man do they need to be so damn cryptic about it? Not even a celebratory Instagram pic when they finished it. Makes ya wonder what the point is This is what happens when you tell yourself you need to end your album (or trilogy) with a soft ballad, even if it ain't a good idea. Same thing with ordinary world

  18. I’m keeping my hopes low I bet whatever new content it contains will be short, like the BBC release, just a few pages of reminiscing from Rob or someone from recording and the rest just old promotional materials. It would be cool if the band actually took the time to comment on each track or add their own stories about it, something we haven’t heard before.

  19. Interesting notice. Both of those songs were written with a specific narrative related to the movies they went along with, not necessarily a personal narrative from Billie's own life experiences. Maybe they were more of a miss because he does his best writing when it comes from his own narrative. More authentic and heartfelt maybe? What I will say about the next album, is that I respect this band so much for their ambition. They continue to want to deliver an album that pushes their artistic talents and that stretches the limits of genre as well as new musical boundaries. I don't know if it will land or not, but I do think their intent is genuine in that regards. That is what keeps me interested... whenever GD releases new material, there is always something there that resonates for me.

  20. You Irritate Me is fine but I completely get why it was left off Nimrod. I don't think it beats any of the 18 tracks that made it onto the album, at least not in its current state. If they were gonna put it on the album, they definitely would've changed it a bit but imo, it's not a track to get too excited for. Of course if you think it's amazing, cool. I do like Dreamcatcher quite a lot and wish it did get a release on a studio album or even side project like The Longshot. I really don't get why it wasn't included on the trilogy cause it wouldn't seem out of place there at all. But at this point, we need to let go of the idea that these old songs are going to get releases on studio albums If they're released under side projects, cool. If they're released under a compilation, cool. If they're released as part of an anniversary album edition, also cool. But these tracks are more often than not, not gonna be these extraordinary songs and should be left off the band's main studio albums which should be comprised of new songs, maybe inspired by old songs but still new

  22. I love The Forgotten, love the piano and strings and Billie’s voice is beautiful.

  23. If you want to hear weird vocals on the trilogy, just listen to the vocal track of Oh Love for Billie grunting

  24. #1972 is just for a social media trend to help spread the hype. They might not have come up with the final title yet. Sometimes it comes at the beginning, middle or 11th hour of a mix with the label asking for a title for album art

  25. And the “glitch” in the vocals at 1:56. How is that allowed to happen?

  28. I don't mind Ordinary World. It's pretty bare bones, but a decent song. As far as album closers go though, its punching-in-a-dream weak. If they wanted to include it, I feel like it might have been a better fit between TDTD and Troubled Times. Or just swapping it with Forever Now.

  29. I really hope they don't add dreamcatcher.. I'd rather hear a new song instead

  30. This forum will never let the old songs go but I totally agree. A lot of bands or artist have stuff they never release, the super duper fans always feel entitled that they have the right to hear it eventually lmao just move on! It's so funny how there is all these demos but they sound like pure crap. Would never make it to an mp3 on my pc

  32. I think The Forgotten sounds nice enough. Not the greatest end they could've had for the trilogy but the piano sounds nice, Billie sounds nice, the lyrics aren't outstanding but not too bad either. I like the guitar solo quite a lot Ordinary World has just never been that interesting to me. I usually just let it play when I listen to RR but it's my least favourite of the album. It just seems like it was just written for the movie and thrown onto RR... which is exactly what it was. It's not terrible, it's just alright. I guess it's ok to listen to after Forever Now but I'd be fine if the album just ended with FN too

  33. He wanted to end RevRad with Forever Now but added „Ordinary World“ in the last Minute

  34. Didn't "Ordinary World" and "The Forgotten" barely make the albums? From what I can remember, they were both late/questionable additions.
    1 point
  35. actually, Billie stated in some interview that 'The Forgotten' wasn't written specifically for the movie, it just ended up on the soundtrack

  36. There might be reasons but that doesn't mean they are good reasons. For instance, I'd take dreamcatcher being released over much of if not all of what we got on FOAMF
    1 point
  37. I assumed once it was used for These Paper Bullets that it was the last we’d hear of it. The Longshot released some of those songs again but not Dreamcatcher, and FOAM did a reworked version of a TPB song (SYITH). If they haven’t used it by now they won’t.

  40. Well, I decided to take a punt on it coz anything live from GD I've just got to have. Six CD's with 6 good quality live broadcasts. The only problem is you don't know where, and you don't know when these broadcasts are from. You can to a certain extent get an idea but that's all. The track listing per disc above from the supplier is completely different to the track listing per disc on the cover of the album. And neither listings fit any of the songs and number of tracks per disc. I know its bootleg, but man what a fuck up. Still its GD live, maybe one day I'll find out somehow. But Hey, catching up, got another CD of GD live, Transmission Impossible, 3 CD's released 2019, Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, Nov 18, 1994; Nice Guys Finish Last, House of Blues, Myrtle Beach, SC, May 6, 1998; and Reading Festival, August 24, 2001. I'm in heaven.
