  2. Hey guys what's up? I don't know if you already heard of Hella Tiny Tour. It a project we started to let Green Day knows we'd LOVE to have some European deep cut/club shows. We started a petition that you can sign here: https://tinyurl.com/5y5wwtmm Since we appeared on BJ's stories twice we wanna take this to another level, and for that we need your help with the Hella Tiny Tour Video Project: What you need to do: - Make a sign with your favorite deep cut song written on it. - Take a picture or video (5 sec max) of yourself while holding the sign. - Be sure it is in portrait and not landscape (vertically!) - Shoot in front of your country’s flag, a well known monument, building or local venue or anything you want. Be creative! - Send your picture/video on Instagram DM or send it to hellatinytour@gmail.com - Deadline: When we are getting close to receiving enough photo’s and video’s we’ll give you guys a heads up on this page and let you know how many days there are left to participate! We will collect all the photo’s and video’s, make a video out of it and share it on our social media accounts. Let’s go!! *If don't wanna show your face it's ok to show just the paper sign; ** If you can't go in some landscape or famous buildings it's ok your home or where you prefer We'd be happy if you would take part in the project!

  3. Did you ask about new music in a general sense, or new GREEN DAY music? if you asked the former, then there’s a 0% chance its about anything Green Day.

  5. Tell me when it's time to release more teasers All we want is GDC to understand that when we show clips of the band it's cause we want to

  6. https://www.greendayauthority.com/news/5278/ When radio stations don't give details and tease it as "huge, huge announcement," I don't even pay attention because it is likely overhype to get people to listen during their advertising prime time.

  7. I wonder if that's because streaming wasn't such a "thing" when 21CB was released?

  9. How does this convince you? They've been posting nothing but old interviews recently, so this is just a continuation of that. I'm pretty sure this is from Turn It Around. I can't remember if it made the final cut, so it could be some extra footage.

  17. I think that‘s because 21CB was released before streaming got to powerful, and I mean this album is more than 10 years old. Compare the sold units of these two album and you will see a massive difference

  19. In Cuatro, I'm sure that Billie said 'Nimrod. Lyrical nightmare'. He mentioned taking the songs into the studio & having to write the lyrics in the studio. Anyway, personally i think the lyrics in Nimrod are his best work, by a longshot (no pun intended). We know he chops & changes his mind quite a lot too, i'm sure on another day he'll tell you how proud he is of the lyrics on that record. Guitar sounds, tones, bass & drum sounds, all sound perfect on this album. I love how clear the hats are from Tre. The songs really drive along because of this. Last Ride In is so perfect too, such a chill vibe.

  20. I have thought this for a while. This record is flawless and it’s the start of Green Day really branching out and being brave with new sounds and styles. This record is why they’ve not just ended up as another 90’s punk rock band & instead a true rock and roll juggernaut that has rightly been inducted into the RnR hall of fame. Even the ‘deeper cuts’ are easily some of their best work, Haushinka, Jinx, All The Time, Worry Rock, Uptight, The Grouch, Scattered, Prosthetic Head, Redundant, Take Back, Reject, Platypus… I could go on and on. I feel like this record goes under the radar, people will always look to American Idiot and Dookie as their best bodies of work - both are incredible in their own way but Nimrod, damn, it covers everything that we love about these guys. It’s also them being daring and showing how great they are as musicians… These guys didn’t need Warped Tour or to hang out with all the Fat Wreck bands, instead they’ve cemented themselves in rock and roll royalty and history & this record epitomises that. I don’t know what more to say other than that this record is their true Magnum Opus.

  21. I was on the internet doing my thing. Decided to search for Green Day sessions to see if any were available. Turns out somebody has, I wanna find out who it is and maybe ask for any of the raw tracks. Collecting pieces of music has always been my thing, this would be another cool piece in my collection. What I found, Still Breathing snippet, Billie's raw take. Bang Bang snippet. (I don't have the sessions yet, still looking for who has it.)

  24. This could be totally unrelated to Green Day but my local Alternative station, ALT 92.3 New York just posted in their Instagram story that a huge, huge announcement is coming up at 5 today. So I sent them a DM, asking if it was regarding new music and they replied, "Sort of.....;)!"

  27. 21CB was released at a time where streaming was barely a thing and as a result, despite being a more popular album, the deep cuts end up having equivalent or less streams than the deep cuts of RevRad while the singles and more popular non-single tracks end up having more streams than the singles and popular non-single tracks on RevRad, most notably 21 Guns & Know Your Enemy having more streams than Still Breathing & Bang Bang respectively When it comes to Father of All, the non-singles on that album have less streams than every non-single track on 21CB, while the bigger singles of the album (Father of All and Oh Yeah) only have slightly higher streaming numbers than the less successful singles of 21CB which weren't even promoted. While FOAMF and RevRad have the advantage of being released in a time where streaming is much more prevalent, since their releases the rate at which people stream these albums has and will continue to reduce while 21CB should stay more consistent meaning that none of the tracks on FOAMF or RevRad should surpass any of the tracks on 21CB while a lot of the tracks on 21CB will likely surpass some of the tracks on those albums at some point

  30. Hope he's right but be aware that Billie's mom attended a lot of shows in those early years (and still does). You can hear her yelling out at the Cybelle's Pizza gig in 1991 (apparently Tre worked there) that's on You Tube for example. It could still easily be any other early show. But if it's something not already out there that would be great.

  31. Maybe 1972 is the banner name of a project which is both an album of original music that sounds like artists that inspired them and also an origin story documentary in their own words.

  33. It's so easy, download music to PC then on to moby (cell) and save to cloud. All your music at your fingertips wherever you may be. But, for some reason I decided to buy the CD version of BBC sessions. What would I have missed if I'd downloaded? One awesome insert by Steve Lamacq detailing each session, and some very surprising and hilarious antics that took place. Now a very important historical record of the band., as part of my treasured possessions.

  36. Nimrod is a super special album for me, and it certainly helped them create a stable career after two albums that largely stayed in the confines of a certain sound. I'm extremely biased, but aren't we all? When it comes to music, I think that Nimrod, Warning, Idiot and Shenanigans are the greatest music ever made, period. (Maybe some FOAM too, but that's whole other topic :)) Nimrod was my starting point with Green Day. My mom and I heard Good Riddance on the way to middle school, and she ordered Nimrod for me through one of those catalogue where you could supposedly order 5000000000000 CD for 1 cent. I put that cd in my little blue boom box in my room and thought I was in for 18 tracks of sweet, acoustic ballads. I may have had a similar experience with Smash Mouth several months prior (Walking on the Sun does NOT prepare you for the punk rock onslaught of Fush Yu Mang) but Nimrod was different. Before Nice Guys Finish Last was over, I knew I had to find out everything there was to know about this Punk Rock stuff. It was transcendent. It instantly healed some of the bullied wounds from middle school. It understood the weird feelings about love and romance that I didn't understand at all. For a while, I had some other favorites. But my parents and I were hooked on Green Day, and I snagged Warning as soon as it was availibe. Then Superhits, and Shenanigans. Along with Nimrod, these albums convinced me to go back and get Insomniac, Kerplunk and 1039. Tracking those earlier ones down back then wasn't so easy for a kid, but I did it. I became obsessed with them during this time period and then it seemed like it was over before it had begun. The compilations were placeholders because the band were having issues, and burning out. Wouldn't it be strange if Shenanigans was the last we heard from Green Day? Would they have joined other bands? Got different jobs? And then the excited murmurs of greatness began. They had fought their demons and were working on something special. The rest is history. But yes. For me, it all starts with Nimrod - my introduction to punk and alternative music.

  39. Green Day show starts 12:10PM Brasilia time The show will be broadcasted at 'Multishow' a cable tv channel here in Brazil. As @Karol Oliveira mentioned above, The show is also streamed va GloboPlay, which is a streaming service we have here, I Just checked and it doesn't work internationally

  40. I'm not expecting any changes either but I still bet it'll be a memorable show! So, for those who won't be attending, better keep tuned for the streaming. I think Globoplay will stream it live, but I not certain if people not living in Brazil can access the platform or if it'll be available on the free plan. Here's the link if you guys want to try it out: https://globoplay.globo.com/

  41. It's very funny to me how many people equate their own opinions on the music to the level of skill, time, or care the band puts into creating it. It comes off a little bit insulting when people insinuate they don't try as hard anymore just because they don't like the songs. Is it not more realistic to think your taste and the band's taste has simply diverged over time?

  42. I agree so much with this and what @Clockwise and @The Grohl went on to say. I really like FOAM, is it their best record, no but I love that they keep doing new stuff. If anything, it feels like it has a kind of disposable feel to it which was completely in keeping with time of it’s release which Inthink they captured really well but with the pandemic a lot of people have re-evaluated life. If we were waiting for the 6th version of AI we’d be pretty passed off! I don’t understand the seeming accepted theory that the band were not keen on the record themselves, I never felt or saw that. I’m excited for new music but will be unhappy if we have to wait 5 months between first single and album drop, I don’t know who came up with that but it strikes me they should learn a little about people!
    1 point
  43. Ah my favorite topic: The mess of the FOAM era. I get both sides of the argument here. On the one hand, I understand why people don't like it. I understand what people mean when they say it's a low tier GD release or it's a not a good GD record. And no, it's not their best. It doesn't have any deeper meaning for me and it's not a deep record. And that's fine. But holy shit the marketing was bad. If anything I'm fine with the record, but I HATED Crush's marketing. I don't care what the band says, Hella Mega was not their idea and you can't convince me otherwise. Maybe they wanted to do a monsters of rock type of thing, but I HIGHLY doubt they wanted to do it with Weezer and FOB. That being said, is FOAM a good record? Yeah, I think so! Is it their best and can it stand up to their other records? Not at all and that's okay! It's a dumb, fun album and it's okay to have music that's just nonsensical fun every once in a while. Do I think GD can do better? Yes, I know they can, but to me it sounded like they were actually having fun here. For years, I felt GD were living in the shadow of AI, constantly trying to top that or reach those heights. With FOAM, it felt like they went fuck it and just did what they wanted. Plus, it did see them try some new things - nothing earth shattering, but new for GD. But I agree that I still want them to put their all into a record. Though I don't think GD should just always take their music super seriously. If they want to make a dumb party record, cool. If they want to make something that's more complex and has deeper meaning? Awesome! I'm here for it. I just don't want GD to be all serious, all the time. I definitely agree with @Clockwise about people trying to fit GD into whatever box they want. I hated all the cries of this isn't a real GD record!!! It's not the GD record you wanted and that's okay. It's fine you don't like, but I also think people are overreacting when they treat FOAM as the worst thing they ever heard. And as @Insomniac1984 stated, there's a good chance people will change their mind about FOAM. It's happened with every single GD release. All it takes is for the latest album to drop for people to go, actually the previous album isn't that bad/is underrated.
    1 point
  44. Nah fuck that shit. FOAM is a good Green Day record and a good record in general. If it's not your cuppa tea, that's fine. But I think people get hung up trying to fit Green Day into a box of their own creation. When in reality Green Day is whatever the three of them want it to be. When they want to take a left turn, they will!

  45. The bolded part reminded me the times when WARNING was released... so many people hated that record. However, I enjoyed it almost the whole record. Time went by, and now tracks I considered bad/meh like "Misery" or "Hold On" are underrated GD gems. Maybe, and I just say maybe, this could happen to FOAM. Nowadays it has happened to the Trilogy, too.
    1 point
  46. I know that most people think FOAM is mostly trash that can be thrown away but I'm very comfortable saying I think it is a genuinely good record. I enjoyed it when it was released and I still do. Is it my favorite? Probably not. I do however think it is overhated and I'm not afraid to say I like things that I find genuine joy in. Hyped for the new album & i hope that it hits me on an emotional level. Green Day are at their best when their music and lyrics hit home. I will say that something like RR definitely hit harder on an emotional level than FOAM did and I hope they can keep up that sort of magic we all know they are capable of capturing. i still get chills listening to Forever Now.
