Anyone seen this comment from Tre? Don't remember what it was replying to but "Al Bumm"19 points

met billie joe, tre and jason white at cherry bar in melbourne when they were touring here in 2017. my friend was playing in a soul band that night at cherry so i thought i’d go along to watch. i opened the door but someone was blocking it from fully opening, it was billie joe. ”sorry man!” he said. i went white as a ghost and just said “n-n-n-no worries mate” what are the chances they were also at the same bar!! had to drink about 7 pints before i could build up the courage to go talk to them. eventually when i started walking towards them their security said i couldn’t go talk to them, which i respected. i was just happy to be able to see them in the flesh and breath the same air lol. later on i was ordering a drink at the bar when jason white stood next to me. i took my chance and let them know how much the band has meant to me throughout my life, he was super cool and said come have a drink with us. we ended up hanging out for about half an hour talking about the times they’ve toured here down under. i was so nervous and was trying my best to stop shaking. i was so rattled that i left my phone on the sink basin in the toilets. tre tapped me on the shoulder when walking out of the bathrooms and said “hey you left this”. upon seeing that i was walking out of the bathroom with tre the security stepped in, thinking i was probably bothering them. tre said “nah, this is dom, he’s with us!” (so cool) i got my photo taken with billie joe and sadly didn’t get the chance with tre, but the memory is still so clear in my mind. the next night i managed to play guitar during knowledge with them. easy to say that it was the best 24 hours of my life. anyway that’s my cool story of meeting them. oh and safe to say that i didn’t end up watching a single second of my friends set that night.10 points

The fact that they've been teasing this album since December of last year just tells me they must be really in love with it and excited to share it whenever it's ready.6 points
-
I'm planning on recording the whole thing just to get Green Day performance. Then I'll try to upload it on Youtube. Or streaming the whole thing on Twitch. I really don't know.6 points
-
I'm so confused by the strong hints happening while they're still in the recording phase.5 points

I sort of met Billie in Baltimore but someone else rushed in front of me to give him a guitar and I ended up taking a photo of the guitar guy with Billie and muttering something stupid after which Bill Schneider said they had to go I also met Tré in our hotel once but his security wouldn't allow photos. I managed to tell him that the drums had sounded great at the show the night before but then became a bumbling idiot and don't even remember how I ended the conversation4 points

It's an album celebrating 50 years for all of them, and we all know that Billie never thought he'd make it to 50. So I think it's kinda sweet they're all hyping it up like this. Isn't this year also gonna be 30 years touring together as well? I know Tre played for them a few times in '91, but he didn't properly join until '92, right? I've never really been too into musical artists and stuff to look forward to an album, so this is my first time anticipating it. It really has a sense of childlike wonder around it to me!3 points

I really think it's gonna be like the last Global Citizen. Probably footages from Hella Mega or (i hope!) footages from their last show at the Innings Festival.3 points
-
Now that would be the one thing to make me worry they’re breaking up It would be badass though.3 points

Exactly!!! It’s almost like FOAM was an afterthought to them. “Get ready for the Hella Mega Tour…oh and by the way, here’s an album.”3 points

I don’t hate it. There are couple of songs I really didn’t liked, but the rest of it is kinda fun, and I get where they were going with this album2 points
-
I know this isn't gonna happen but it would be such a boss move for them to perform a song on the rooftop of a London studio (I don't know if Apple is still a studio but RAK, Abbey Road, whatever)2 points
-
They might have been just finishing the stuff they’ve worked on earlier.2 points
-
They were clearly in London after the Innings Festival. Fans posted photos on social of meeting them on the streets.2 points

If that were the case, the announcement should be coming any day now. Tré clearly said it’s an album (“Al Bumm”), so I don’t think they’ll just shadow drop a single for something this big2 points
-
I do, I probably like Teenage Teenager least on it but I like the rest. I feel like I get what they were going for, it’s their fun dance album.2 points
-
Do you think they'll drop a single or something special on record store day in two weeks?2 points

Ugh... I just still CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THIS HAPPENED. 😁🥰 best feeling ever. I'm still so happy Dreams really do come true haha. My next dream/goal is for GD to hear my band and we possibly open up for them someday! https://www.instagram.com/p/CbyShAfrupK/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link2 points

I kind of agree but I think they (management) must have been prepared in case the whole tour became a disaster with bands ill, possibly for a long time, crowds getting ill, health officials denouncing them as super spreader events etc etc, it was at high risk of becoming a PR disaster so in that perspective I’ll bet, Jake aside, they are pretty pleased with the outcome overall. I don’t mean to sound dismissive of Jake or what he’s going through but if you are in the habit of running big events with lots of people and equipment then I’m sorry to say, bad stuff happens at times. It would seem that for Aimee, Rivers, Patrick or Billie, Covid could really be a very serious issue for lung function, maybe not career ending but certainly very difficult to recover from.2 points

Green Day have posted about Tré in Modern Drummer now Tré has posted it too with this caption2 points

Sometimes that's a blessing in disguise. Years ago that was the case with U2 for All That You Can't Leave behind. They won several Grammys for their single one year, which was out prior to the deadline, and then for the album the following year. I have to say though, I have a problem with all of these older bands winning best rock when there are so many great new bands that are really doing more innovative things. Just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'll be thrilled if GD wins, but also torn.2 points

Insulting the people who volunteer their time to provide a free forum for you to entertain yourself with, is, in fact, being an ass. No one on the team tries to claim we are providing you with "state of the art tech" - we are all just regular people who have real jobs in the real world and give up our free time to try and make this place fun. I don't have anything to do with the back end and I'm not going to claim I know anything about it (and I doubt you do either), but I do know that members of this team dedicate a lot of time into stuff that you will never see, just to keep this place running. There's no reason to be a jerk and start throwing around shit about how the admin team does not know what they are doing, because without them, there would be no GDC - yucky profile pics or not.1 point

I can see them not mentioning Jake's accident, but strictly in the context of COVID it was a serious case of revisionist history to say the tour went perfectly and without a hitch, considering FOB missed a week of shows due to positive tests. That's a flat out lie, I wonder if it was the publicist that wants to whitewash the tour and hope everyone forgets and told the interviewer to leave it out or if they really didn't know. Hard to believe, since it was very well known at the time that they missed several shows.1 point
