  1. To be honest I think they will not do anything like 21CB or AI again. They don't have something to prove anymore and have earned their place in Rock'n'Roll history. I think the next album will be something safe like Revrad but with a new sound. Maybe I'm totally wrong and they will do their most epic work as a next album but it's just not realistic. As long as the band is doing what feels right to them I'm totally satisfied with it.

  2. I defy you to describe the “real Billie”. He’s a walking contradiction. His opinions and feelings are constantly flying in the face of each other and change almost daily. That’s the “real Billie” if I must.

  3. It accentuates his big head. I don’t mind the sides swept back but I like when it’s loose and messy on top

  4. As great as 21CB was, I don't think they want to do anything like that again, largely because of how hard it was to make that album. I think they'll always make political songs as long as they're making new music (every green day project since AI has had at least 1 political song) but I think they're probably done with the whole rock opera concept thing. But who knows, maybe Billie will feel like he wants to make another one at some point in the future

  5. Oh god, is it already that time again? Speculation of new GD album? Oh boy.. Last time my prediction was far off and way too optimistic (even if I love FOAM, it wasn't what I wanted), so this time I'll go on different route: - Next album will be the worst GD album ever commercially; streams are down, sales are down, live performances don't generate any views and every single review gives it fat zero out of ten. - Songs will be fine, but overproduced to hell. Clapping will be featured on every single song. No guitar solos. Bass is just following guitar. Drums are straight from St. Anger. Lyrics are all about razorblades and bottle rockets. Billie Joe keeps cosplaying Prince. - Tour will also be the worst. Songs will be sloppy and Billie Joe runs out of breath every single song. Tre fucks up Burnout drum solo every single time. COVID cancels half the shows. Mike looks bored and sings off tune. Jason White quits the band in middle of tour. - Hot take in 5 years will be that this Album 14 is better than Dookie and American Idiot. Combined. - 21st CB, Trilogy and other good stuff wont get mentioned during this albums era or those anniversaries gets a mug or a beanie. No rare songs, no special live videos, nothing, because it's Album 14 Era babeh~

  6. It would cause some confusion, but can we get a studio album called Shenanigans? Because Desensitized just might be the greatest song of all time. I guess they could do it backward and call it Snaginanehs. Like a reverse b-sides would be like a all a-sides or something? How about Bloody Shenanigans? Shenanigans and Valentines? Polyanigans? I don't know. I just love Shenanigans so much and no other band has a b-side collection like it. Shenanigans should have been a studio album and DUI should have been on it. SHENANIGANS!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I keep seeing this quote everywhere. When Billie mentioned he hates long songs, he was talking about long songs in albums, favoring short songs (max 3 minutes) over 8 minute songs. They still do love performing Jesus of Suburbia way too much and actually, they played Father of All 2 times in a row right after doing that interview where this quote originated from, citing that FOA was too short!

  11. I think is the opposite. They won't make another Breakdown because they had a big chunk of stress making the record, pulling every string and polishing every detail. If being socially aware is being political, then they were political from the very beginning. Politics is not only related to politicians, is how, where we live, what you have to do to eat a meal at the end of the day. How we interact together. Political elites have made everything possible to bruise people and looking away from politicians, just to make things easier for them. In that sense, I bet he is more tired of speaking his mind, his convictions, his soul, to trying to make a change, to make people giving a shit. And it didn't happen. Probably it won't. If he would stop making social commentary, then RevRad shouldn't exist. And then, in that record, he wrote the most deep song that I have seen from that guy: "What's good about love and peace on earth, when it's exclusive?" "What part of history we've learned, when it's repeated?" FOAM is full of political statements too. Not gonna mention MM2020pt2. Is not like "Fuck x politician". Is more like "I have tried almost anything to make this a better place, and it is not working" Do you remember? "Ain't funny how we're running of hope" If Billie is tired to be in a political/social band, he would have stopped long time ago and enjoy his millions. But guess what, he can't. And it's painful to me, as is from a lot of us. But that is the reality we live in, and I'm super grateful to have him to put music in this apocalypse

  12. I get the sense Billie is tired of Green Day being mischaracterized as a political band. He never intended to AI to be overtly political, like every other album it was meant to be about his own feelings and where he was emotionally at that time. Politics factored into it as a setting or a backdrop to fill out the statement he was making about how it made people feel. But it also pigeon holed them as a political band and he’s been fighting against that label ever since.

  13. I think it’s his narrow shoulders that make his head look big, when you see him in reality I don’t think his head looks big but I agree, Tre is so much chunkier than Billie you don’t realise he is actually shorter.
    3 points
  14. You’re right, it’s Tre’s broad shoulders. Billie’s big head is also accentuated by his narrow than average shoulders. You can really see their different shoulder sizes in the Hall of Fame ceremony photos. Mike has average shoulders, Tre’s are broad, Billie’s are narrow.

  15. I like the Elvis hair the way Duke Snyder did it,, gelled but not too much and still messy, sometimes it looks too slick and I think it ages him a little but it does suit him.

  16. It's risky playing Green Day drinking games as @Beerjeezus @Slave To The Network @jengd and I found out 🤣

  17. Yeah, I believe Billie said at some point that his fallback Halloween costume for many years was always "burglar". This photo of Billie's floof and eyes is making me crazy! This is just the way I like him! I sooooo hope the floof will come back again. It doesn't even have a be this long, I'll take even moderate floof (but this is ideal).

  18. I'm totally fine with them making an album that's under a half hour if it's a half hour of good music. FOAM struggles to reach the 15 minute mark in terms of good songs and even the good songs have some issues imo

  19. It's weird because when I met Tre he was tiny as well (bearing in mind he was skinnier on the 99 Revolutions Tour). I think Green Day In general are all small guys. Tre definitely looks like he's "bigger" but like I said he was tiny in every respect when I met him so much so I was kind of shocked

  20. Finally got around to listening and it's excellent. This will definitely be (blasting) on in the car Saturday/Sunday for my drive to the parentals for the holidays.

  21. It's just Mike getting interviewed on some Danish tv show. Probably when they were there on tour. Like the other clip there's not much to say about it, the "unknown" part is just because whoever found or uploaded it doesn't know what TV show it was.

  22. Yes. He often sang it that way live. Like when he sings WICA live and would often say “I’m a loser, a drug user” instead of “I’m a loser and a user”

  23. My fav Billie hair is the hair he had for the Longshot, Super Bowl pre/post party (maybe it was the NHL performance I don’t remember some) and the Life is Beautiful performance. He looks so sharp and handsome.

  24. If it happens naturally that’s wonderful. If it’s forcing to recreate that sort of record: no. My comment was a little confusing. I meant I don’t want them to force recreating something they’ve already done because people wish they would. American Idiot is one of the greatest albums of all time. Like if someone suggests they’d want an album like American Idiot you just can’t. I felt like 21stCBD wasn’t that great. It was a beautiful record but meanwhile I think it was troublesome to make and they seemed to be having a lot more fun and heart with the Foxboro Hot Tubs and the Stop, Drop and Roll album on the side.

  25. I'll start with my 5AM rant of GD's subreddit. At this point, fuck Green Day's subreddit so bad like jesus christ. It's so bad, I'm not even kidding. Fucking tiermakers. Why, just why? Why does anyone ever think that their hot take is to have Dookie as their 5th favorite album? Where are THE REAL hot takes, like putting FOAM to the top and AI to the bottom? Why is anyone bothering to even make list of GD albums if it's just copy and paste from other redditors? I love tiermakers when they generate good discussion and also have some other explanation behind rankings, not just ''hehee heres my hot take we can now stop doing these'' and then still having Nimrod/Dookie/AI/21stCB at the top. Even if there is a stupid thing called ''shitpost sunday'' shouldn't mean that I see 50 different rankings of GD albums in the same order. Where are the memes? Where are obvious shitposts? Fuck, even FOAM and its beautiful cover art is too boring and no one is making fun of it anymore. Same shit gets reposted to the death. Goddammit. I wanna like that subreddit but goddammit at its current state it's just so fucking bad that it makes me mad. Anyways, I've once again just recently watched Irving Plaza 2012 performance. It's the best show to drink some alcohol while watching. If you're old enough, have no problems with alcohol and wanna get wasted with Green Day, just play some drinking games while watching Irving Plaza 2012. Some obvious rules like ''drink when billie says hey-oh'' or ''drink when billie has weird face on'' will get you shitfaced very quickly with this show, but rules like ''drink 3 times when billie shouts new york city'' and ''drink when mike is laughing'' will also do the job just well. Trust me, my hangover agrees with it. Bring back Nuclear Family. Such a great and energetic live song ❤️

  27. Dear Green Day, Please be advised: These songs have been put onto 4 or more collections and never need be added to another one. We know you think these songs define your career, and that's alright, mama. But when it comes around to These six songs, we are DONE. She, When I Come Around, Basketcase, Brainstew, Hitching a Ride and Minority. If you must use one, Hitchin a Ride is still tolerable. If you must keep all but one, please ditch Brain Stew. It gives me a brainstew.

  28. I know this has absolutely nothing to do the music (which is awesome) but I was avidly reading the liner notes by Steve Lamacq which are really cool but omg, he says the programme “sort…..” when he means “sought”, is nobody literate anymore?! If Bill is visiting the forum to see what reaction is, I’ll volunteer as proof reader 😉😇

  30. Ay this point... Seeing what happened with FOAM, pollyana and all New stuff... I prefer them to open the vault and give us all live recordings, cover songs (surrender/bastard of Young, dancing with myself, kiss me deadly, sometimes i don't mind, etc) they use to play, b-sides, alternate versions. I would like a box set with allí that more than a New álbum with claps and glam rock

  38. I like 21CB, It's their best in production terms, but I think It's too long. I always got a bit tired when I listen entirely. An album with 13 tracks is perfect for me.

  40. We already got a COVID concept album, it's called Money Money 2020 Pt. 2.

  41. Others are free to disagree, but I conclude it based on the fact that at least one is a confirmed outtake (Art of the Deal of the Devil), they said they had 7 extra songs that would eventually be heard and that they would likely release something else by summer (which in hindsight probably means The Network album since they didn’t release them as Green Day like they implied) and if they had 7 unused songs and definitely used one of them why would they scrap the other six and write the Network album from scratch when they are always reusing old material for albums? Even FOAM contained a reworked song from These Paper Bullets. Occam’s Razor tells me most if not all seven of those songs ended up with The Network. Tell me Degenerate with its funky groove and falsetto didn’t come out of the FOAM session for example.

  42. You already heard the outtakes, they were released on MM2020pt2 and honestly they are better than what was chosen for FOAM. Billie often has a habit of throwing away his best songs on side projects
    1 point
  43. Based on what ended up being released on FOAM, I'm not really sure I want to hear the outtakes. I still hope for a straight punk rock album, kicking back to the days of Dookie, Insomniac and Nimrod. No sweeping 7-minute epics, no politics, just a return to that gritty, hard punk rock sound.

  44. That's the Shibuya store in Tokyo, where they had such a display when FOAM was launched. It's a pity that I can't go there because I live in Osaka 😥
