For whatever reason I'm hyped to hear the album when they released the back cover8 points

My guess is they sealed the NHL deal and added FRA8 points

I think there's 3 things that make the album and songs duration an advantage: 1. You're less inclined to skip the song or get annoyed by a song when it's over before you've even made a full judgement on it. 2. You're more inclined for repetitive listens because it's so short so you need to expand your sample size to get a real judgement of it. Then if the hook is good now it's got you. 3. Fans have always complained "I went to xyz show and they pushed too much of their new album". If they were to play 4 new songs it would only amount to 8-10 minutes of the set.7 points

I don‘t think that this would be good for Green Days career and rock music in general in the future7 points

Am I the only one to love FOAMF and FRA ? im really confident in the upcoming album and in view of their recents shows at the AMA’s for example, I think they’re now considered like a proven band, currently they can do what music they want and il ok with that Moreover FOAM is incredible live, the song has a particular energy and it’s not a bad song at all imo7 points

You are not alone, I have a positive feeling about this record as well. But I think you can expect a similar reaction from part of the fanbase when you pee on its head departing from your “canonical sound” and having a unicorn throwing up on your most beloved album cover 😄 And I think the band was/is aware of this and foreseen it, they’re not dumb I am quite positive about the next single being something very different from FOAM, but I am not sure if it will be that in a way that makes the song more “generally accepted” by that part of the fanbase, or even more controversial6 points

I completely disagree in the case of Bang Bang I think losing the guitar made that song come alive and it’s now surpassed St Jimmy for me as my favorite live performance. He’s such a dynamic performer letting him hand over the guitar responsibilities to Kevin a few times a show now really sets him free. He said he likes it and it shows.4 points

I was looking at this twitter thread from Consequence of Sound and saw this comment: How concerning are the sales at this point? Anyone in the business have perspective on this?4 points
-
I am very excited for this album!! So far I'm happy with what I've heard. Even though they kept the songwriting familiar to GD standards, the sound is quite fresh.4 points

Imo if there's gonna be a music video, it better not be the standard performance vid... I want to see something like still breathing/back in the USA when it comes to videos from them or even music videos in general (just my opinion tho)3 points

Is jumpsalty an insider or something? People seem to be taking this comment as if it actually means something. Does it? As for the album, it'll be fiiiiiiiiiiine. Something like if UNO and Stop Drop and Roll had a baby. Bubble gum garage pop. Critically it'll do fine. Fans will hate it at first; then a week later those same people will be talking about how "they've actually come around to FOAM." Then a month or so later people will be over hyping it, saying how its actually the best album since Dookie or Insomniac and how "its basically just like Nimrod." After the hype settles down I'm willing to bet most will have it above the trilogy albums at the very least. A short, wild, fun ride. And then three years from now we'll start getting the "Does anyone else think FOAM is criminally underrated?" comments; as well as "FOAM appreciation thread(s)." It'll be fine. Your using a green day forum in 2020 for God's sake. Odds are your gonna like this album either way.3 points

They're trying something new. It's a new sound. The vocals have been in a higher range than previous GD music, FOAMF specifically uses a drumbeat that Tre has not used on a previous song. While it remains in a smilar high energy, short & sweet GD structure these songs have elements to them that the band has not used before from both composition side and production side. Even FOAMF lyrically is different where Billie mentions money which is something that's not really touched upon in previous GD eras. Even the marketing & promotions element has been experimental. They've made new appearances and have been more collaborative with other popular artists. This is a very different GD era. I thought he was too stationed after the first leg of 21cb till now. We need some presence out there.3 points

Also, some songs (like FRA) are just too short to skip Fans be like, "I didn't go to band x's show to hear music from band x!" 😂 It's kind of funny, because if they only play old stuff, people would complain that they're living in the past and not doing enough to promote the new album or whatever 💁♀️3 points

I have mixed feelings about the tour, I don't mind seeing FOB and Weezer, i feel like I would mostly enjoy their set. But if i could choose, I'd rather not see them if it means GD will play a longer set. I also obviously prefer to pay less than these prices. Bought tickets to one show and that for sure does hurt the wallet, but no one is forcing me to buy them, I can also choose to skip tour but I rather save on other things than miss seeing GD. at the same time, the tour is giving GD a chance to gain new fans from other fanbases that like the same kind of music. The tour is getting quite some buzz in the news and a tour like this is a great thing for rock music. So I really hope that people buy tickets and show up to this tour and realize how amazing rock concerts are and how talented these bands are.3 points

Unfortunately though if this tour flops I think all of the bands would take a hit in public image that would be hard to recover from. I don’t want to see that happen. Maybe it’s just early though. I really don’t know, which is why I’m asking.3 points

Accept the bad album into your hearts, I beg you. This isn't a troll album. They really are that dumb. We all know it deep down3 points
-
I remember being mad when they released the single and the video and thinking it would be forever until the album came out. Holy cow it’s in like a month. Ina month we will finally get to hear it. I hope they do some surprise club dates or a mini-club tour.3 points
-
I don’t think there will ever be an explanation because they probably just made some minor adjustments, switched a song or two in or out. They said they had a hard time deciding which songs to eliminate and they might have changed their minds. The only thing I’m curious about is why they decided to make a 26 minute album.3 points
-
Here’s a wacky theory, what if it’s a joint trolling effort by both Green Day and Panicland? What if Magnum Opus was actually Green Day’s album and FOAM was Panicland’s and they just recorded cover versions of each others’ songs?!?!?3 points

I'm sure there's people out there who compulsively masturbate to that3 points

Well, I would not call FOAM experimental from a general music perspective, but for sure GD is experimenting new sounds with it, even only taking the falsetto into account. I really can’t describe it as a typical GD song, and I can’t really find another song in their catalogue that sounds in any way like that. When I look at the record I expect to hear more experimentation in this sense. Which doesn’t necessarily mean they have to invent a new sound, but to incorporate sounds they never or rarely used in their music. For sure I don’t expect GD to reinvent the wheel tho2 points

I say this selfishly because Billie is one of my guitar idols but I can honestly say that my most hated part about this era of Green Day is Billie not playing his guitar on songs. Especially songs from revolution radio that he played guitar on the last tour. It’s like he saw Billie Eilish and thought “yeah that’s what I want to be now.” I’ve never had a problem with him not playing guitar on St Jimmy or even FOA, but I do with bang bang and revolution radio and I hope to god he doesn’t do it with more older songs in the future or even new songs. Give someone three inches and then they take a yard, you know?2 points

im expecting mixed reviews that fall more on the negative side tbh. We're gonna get that the album has good energy, different sounds than before and the songs are quick and fast etc followed by a HOWEVER, it falls flat because this and that and doesn't hold up as a better album in their entire discography etc. They'll most likely draw parallels with the trilogy but will highlight that this is a new sound for GD and a focused effort of only 10 tracks which is easier to digest.2 points
-
Yeah just wonder if they overstretched as far as number of total shows and certain other locations. That would be very healing 😉2 points

I get the ticket prices, I really do. My question is just whether there are truly concerns about ticket sales or if it’s too early for that.2 points

I just hope we get an explanation as to why they went back in the studio in June after completing the album in April, as @Matt. had told us. Because I just don’t see why they would go back into the studio to record more songs only to cut the album down to 10 songs/26 minutes2 points

These pics so cute, especially 4th slide and Billie’s smile 🖤2 points
