  1. You'll need to rob a bank to afford it.

  2. Pretty sure this hasn't been posted in here before:

  3. You are making sense, but I don't think it's hugely respectful or appropriate to speculate about a recovering alcoholic/addict relapsing.

  4. He's already done one Foxboro show sober, so it's definitely a possibility!

  5. Yeah I love Sweet 16! Very sweet love song to Adrienne, another one of those romantic but realistic ones he writes so well. I like to wait until I have a couple of hours worth of housework to do and go for the full Uno Dos Tre listen, always enjoyable

  6. Ehm.. so? It doesn't fit the garage rock, Foxboro Hot Tubs-ish style of the album...

  7. How woud Revolution Radio fit in any way on a party record?

  8. I love the clothes he's wearing in this picture

  9. The masks are gone from the store and I sincerely hope it's because they realised that the price (and the idea that anyone wants to walk around with their "faces" on) was ridiculous not because ridiculous people already bought them all

  10. I am! And if they keep Know Your Enemy on their setlist that's what I'll be proudly singing when I see them in February

  11. Oh yeah, already went there in my mind.

  12. yes, but he's already played two fbht shows sober and they were fine by all accounts. Shouldn't be an issue as far as we can guess.

  13. Yeah, I thought he had, I couldn't remember for certain though.

  14. Defs wouldnt fit on dos...neither of the two songs released would fit nicely on any of the trilogy records. Bang Bang and Revolution Radio seem much darker mainly in subject matter...the trilogy has some dark songs but not in the same way.

  15. RevRad isn't "tubish". Imo it might me on Tre, yet Tre is perfect even without RevRad
    1 point
  16. Much as I'd fucking love to see them I don't think they'll play, RevRad is darker and more serious and it wouldn't really go with the mood. That's assuming the tour will follow the mood, which isn't definite.
    1 point
  17. It might fit in musicality and tone, but not subject matter.

  18. Sorry to double post, I just had a totally random idea: it's the time for another FBHT show. I do hope the foxies will make a cameo sometime during the revrad tour.

  19. Oh my god I'm really happy that you got them ! I would have been so depressed if you didn't . It's definitely worth the 7 year wait! Which show are you going to?

  20. So far I'm thinking it won't be that different from it . I mean obviously it's different subject matter and different production, but musically I think it sounds pretty similar (quite simple and with a bit of a rock and roll sound) and even the lyrics have that snappy one liner thing going on, sounds like a continuation along the same line rather than a tangent from it (as if they've taken their cue from songs like 99 Revolutions and are going further and harder with it). An album with a sound not too far from the trilogy's only with harder production and political/social commentary lyrics sounds promising to me.

  21. The opposite for me. Don't like the trilogy but that's a highlight for me.

  22. I like the lyrics a lot. To me it follows along from Redundant and Church On Sunday as an honest/realistic type of love song, I especially like "The kids are alright, alright as they'll ever be" and the nostalgic verses. I've seen a few people say they dislike "You will always be my sweet 16" (thinking it's about 16 year olds and is corny) in the past, but knowing it's just a reference to his 16th anniversary I don't see anything wrong with that part either. Sounds pretty too. She's not exactly the greatest rapper of all time and I could see being disappointed with the verses not being from a "real" rapper, not everyone who dislikes it just dislikes rap. But I think that kind of seductive half rapping half talking she does works for the song/character and complements Billie's vocals well. And as is evident from discussions about Dos there's some people who dislike hearing any lyrics about casual sex in a Green Day song and are "disappointed" in Billie for writing about it (lol) and no doubt don't enjoy hearing a sexy woman's voice rapping about it on a Green Day song either. But it also just isn't to some people's taste (which is to be expected more than usual for a song that's different to the band's usual output) and there's nothing wrong with that. Doesn't stop me enjoying it!

  24. Agreed, just maudlin and boring.

  25. Still trying to figure out what's wrong with Lady Cobras voice? Was that just a lame excuse to say they don't like rap? I played it quite a few times and I was just in shock how underrated it still is to this day. I hate to keep saying it, but if I don't I really don't know who else will. It's always nice to hear nice records and stuff that's not political ALL THE TIME.

  26. Yeah Dookie is my favorite album. But I think Sweet 16 is a great song.

  28. The hint of the inappropriate reference was made here, please stay ignorant for your own good!

  30. Longview fades out but it has an ending when they play it live. I've never really heard a 'fade out' song by another artist being played live. Do they have to make up an ending? Do they walk away from the mic as they're singing and gradually turn the amps down? I've always wondered about that kinda thing

  38. Wow @Dakke, that hit me hard. Good analysis of how everything slowly but surely spun out of control. I wish such dark times were avoided, but in a way it feels like it all needed to happen this way. They couldn't sustain themselves the way they were headed. Trying to constantly out-do themselves, working hard constantly as to not dry up—I mean, that's admirable work ethic and I love how dedicated they are, but it gets to a point where it's obsessive instead of mere hard work. I'm so happy that they're able to look at everything that went down now that they're on the other side of it and have such a healthy perspective. I love how much they love what they do, and how hard they try to put the best of themselves out there all the time. But not at their personal expense. They're more important. I get the impression that after going through this, they understand that THEY mean more to their fans than a timetable of when they should put out a new record, or if their next record will top the one that came before. We're here because we love their music, but we need them to stick around for a long, long time in order to provide that music. They're not going to lose us when they need time for themselves.

  39. I got them! It's difficult to express these feelings but I don't think it has fully dawned on me yet. I've been a fan for almost 7 years and over that time, "seeing Green Day" has become something that "surely would happen sometime" but it has always been such an abstract wish - like when people say they'll make a trip to somewhere really fancy or buy an expensive car but never really act on it. It's really awesome I'm finally past this stage. When I pick up the tickets I'll have to display them somewhere so I can stare at them all the time to remind myself I'm not dreaming!

  40. When I'd only read up to here I thought he was just adding that playfully as a joke: ā€œSo the press tried to pin us against each other. You couldn’t like one and the other, you had to pick one.ā€ ā€œI don’t think there’s any bad blood. I’ve done some things with Billy Joeā€ he continues. ā€œThere’s certainly a lot more in common than there is keeping us apart. There’s a lot more mutual respect than any kind of – we’ve got no problem with those guys.ā€ ā€œHaving said that, we are a much better band. I should make that clear right?ā€ laughs Noodles... But then: ...ā€œAll around I’d say. Just in general. We’re a much better band.ā€ Oh he was serious

  42. I know that obviously but the flow of the two singles fit well together. You can have songs that don't lead into each other directly but still have a good flow to an album ...

  44. As I've mentioned, a while ago my mum misheard "Ashley" as "actually". Well today she heard it playing again from the next room and said, "Why does he keep singing 'ashtray'?"

  45. I agree, and it is relative. Green Day has the potential to obtain critical acclaim for their music, and didn't reach those heights with the Trilogy. The sales were nothing to write home about either compared to previous albums. I guess my perspective is assessing the success of the Trilogy with all things considered, rather than just their past. Im really looking forward to seeing how Revolution radio does critically and commercially šŸ™‚

  46. I know people like to shit on Nightlife but there are still a lot of people who like Nightlife, and a lot of people like the rest of those songs you've named too Uno Dos TrƩ was made as a gift for the fans. It wasn't intended as an album like Dookie or AI to be universally praised. I'm sure if they wanted that, they could've just made it into a short album. They have loads of different types of fans, fans of Dookie/Insomniac, AI/21CB, Nimrod/Warning etc. and with the trilogy they tried to give something to each type of fan. I'm sure with this next release, they will make more effort to put more meaningful lyrics and a more epic sound into their songs There are loads of people who hate American Idiot. Not justr Seagull. Many people prefer the older GD albums or even the newer GD albums
