I dunno why, I just don't think Fuck Time is what Green Day are about, it's kind of like the Oh Love video.2 points
-
That can basically be said about the entirety of Dos.2 points

Fuck Time should have never been put on a Green Day record.2 points

Having a bull moose shit on your face while you're tied to an anthill and your eyes have been gouged out is better than "The Forgotten", so that's not saying much.2 points

I think that the Oh Love music video came across differently than it was supposed to. I think it was supposed to be some symbol of unquenchable desire and wanting to find love, but it turned into a creepy harem video. I'm pretty sure Billie makes like he's eating some girl out at the end (might only be in the Playboy version?). However, I feel like it's mostly Sam Bayer's fault. It has his shitty vibe to it. The video goes with the theme of the song but takes it into a dirtier, more physical place, and the song is exactly the opposite. I wouldn't say it's misogynistic. They seem to be worshipping women, not putting them down. But it definitely made me uncomfortable. Honestly, I think the shitty leadup to the Trilogy and the meltdown and rehab was a big subliminal message. Green Day throws out some uncharacteristic songs that are kind of sucky, throws out some creepy-ass music videos (remember when they rode bikes in Kill the DJ for no reason at all), does some shitty marketing and drunk performances, and then Billie goes to rehab. Maybe this whole think was some meta setup to show people what happens when you live this kind of empty lifestyle of drinking (iHeart), having sex with hookers (Oh Love), and being cool/showing off like a child (motorcycles in KTD).1 point

True, but it's not worth listening to the worst song they've ever done for the sake of that. On the topic of the Oh Love video, I only just got around to watching the full version the other day, and I was pretty gobsmacked. It's very un-Green Day, arguably misogynistic and just kind of baffling really. I never realised they were Robin Thicke. So there's a moral dilemma.1 point

The Fuck Time solo makes it my favorite. I think (I haven't listened to Dos for about a year, so I can't be sure).1 point

And genocide? Seriously though, Nightlife is easily the best song on Dos, which isn't saying much.1 point

My feelings towards nightlife can be summed up by saying that I dislike other songs more, which isn't much praise really! But to say it's better than Lazy Bones is just blasphemy.1 point
-
Y'know, I actually agree. It has a solid bassline, catchy chorus and it was a totally different direction for Green Day. I would say its better than songs like "Lazy Bones" and "The Forgotten".1 point

I'm glad, I'm not really a fan of The Network, I'd rather have a Foxboro album1 point

Yeah it's old. They used to have a cool and funny website but then years ago (definitely by 2007/8 if not earlier) it was replaced by that page. Just tried visiting it and it's still there , by this point I doubt anything is "cumming": http://thenetworkband.com/ At one point someone worked out a way to view the old pages of the site, possibly by typing the urls of the specific different sections (which they either already knew or worked out). I think that's how I saw it. No idea if that's still possible though.1 point

Emenius Sleepus and In the End really grew on me when I went through a situation where those lyrics felt like direct words out of my mouth. That's when it hit me how relatable Dookie is. That's the beauty of the whole album really. It doesn't say anything complex, but every lyric gains power from how easily everyone can relate. It's unashamedly blunt. I'd agree that a lot of the simple lyrics on the Trilogy are perhaps keeping up with the "party, don't take it seriously" vibe. Amy has simplistic and sincere lyrics. However, albums like Dookie were also simple and sincere, but not in a way that was lyrically lazy like the Trilogy seemed. So there's a big subjectivity in looking at the Trilogy's lyrics in that way.1 point

See I always enjoyed Amy's lyrics. They're simple. Dumb simple during the chorus. But I think that's the point of the song. It's stripped down, it's very retro- even beatles esque in my mind. The connection between both people's addictions certainly adds another dimension to the lyrics. When he says "Amy don't you go" I think you can easily substitute his own life/consciousness in for Amy. When I first heard this song it sounded like a classic to me. I'm not saying that like it's one of GD's best songs, but it gave off this vibe that just reminded me of a song like "Mama I'm coming home" or something to that effect. If you were Dookie Lukie you would. You would like it again. And again.1 point

http://www.miaminewtimes.com/2014-08-07/music/why-popular-music-needs-to-become-political-again/ Why Popular Music Needs To Become Political Again In the 2000s, the tragedy of 9/11, the reality of fighting two wars, and the presidency of George W. Bush provided fodder for rage. The politically charged narrative of Green Day's smash "American Idiot" harnessed the spirit of Joe Strummer, railing against the hawkish political climate of the day, as well as vapid commercials and reality TV. The album was a tour de force that gloriously mocked the stupidity of our elected leaders and the apathy of the masses. But it also sold by the bucketload and relaunched the careers of the power punk trio.1 point

Actually nobody should even accuse anyone for not knowing music because their taste. It is all subjective after all. You can accuse one of not knowing music history or theory or something and I sincerely admit I have no clue about music theory but I doubt Seagull meant that But one can hardly know music and if one can, then everyone knows music differently and equally right. If someone enjoys something who is someone else to tell him he is not enjoying the right thing? And the other way around. Why is subjectivity so hard term to compregend?1 point

I'd not only play it but DJ with it doing the scratching the bring backs and all that with the colored vinyls1 point

I have spent Years researching blue. The original Blue has pretty much always been used. Billie has never had "replicas" as such. During the Nimrod era, Billie had Several FENDER guitars with the same paint job as blue made for him. These had different stickers, and were used for the songs from Nimrod that were tuned to E Standard, while blue was Tuned to E flat for Pre Nimrod Songs. After the nimrod tour, Billie started using Juniors etc for the E songs, and these "Replicas" were not used again. But then, on the South American Leg of the 21st Century Breakdown tour, Billie didn't use blue. He used a guitar that was actually another Fernandes. This one was blue, but was a bit lighter coloured than Blue was. It again, had the same pickup with different stickers. That was used as I believe Blue was getting repaired/Refretted at the time. You see, billie never had replicas, so All the pictures of blue you see, are the real blue unless they are the Nimrod Guitars, or from the 21st Cent South America Leg.1 point

Here's the closest we have thanks to Ham Sascale. Pictures on ceiling, oh, Wanna know. Until the (?) made an oh... Wanna know. Sometimes I'm like a dog in heat In the middle of summer street. It seemed like (?). Wanna know. Bite my lip and close my eyes, Fucking (Fuck me!) myself to paradise. Some say, "Ouit, or I'll go blind." But it's just a myth. Screw the meaning of this song As I mumble. Or can I take it to the... Let's mumble! Sometimes I'm like a dog in heat In the middle of the street. Can I be (?) alone... Wanna know. Bite my lip and close my eyes, Fucking yourself to paradise. Some say, "Ouit, or I'll go blind." But it's just a myth.1 point

Ok, this is a tricky one, but if anyone is able to figure out what the lyrics are to this version of Longview, or at least a link to someone else who has? It's probably somewhere on the internet, but I can't find anything, so any help would be great1 point

He's played with them a few times now. I hope you do get to see them and that Billie makes an appearance, would be so cool to see that in person! They're from Costa Rica 2010, for anyone who cares.1 point

Poor trolling attempt 0/10. I've literally never seen you successfully justify your dislike for AI at all. "I don't like other fans" isn't a good reason.1 point
