  2. The fact that you used 10% of your post limit to point that out is my favourite thing.

  3. So I know we often give the band a hard time for their by-the-numbers covers, but I honestly think their "Working Class Hero" is leaps and bounds better than the original.

  4. Not sure if this has been posted on here before, but I just put it on JWD and it's just so perfect.

  7. That's because the Trilogy is a deliberately more simple and fun direction, with a kind of retro rock and roll vibe to it. Those kind of choruses fit those kind of songs. I think it works straightforwardly for the more fun songs, and works as a nice contrast to the darker verses in the more serious songs (and sometimes both at once for the songs that have both fun and dark elements), I don't have any issue with it. It's so great, the drums add so much to it, Billie's singing is perfect for it and they made it their own. Hands down their best cover. Wrong

  11. wait wait.. that's too soon, or too far, or too much too soon., let them enjoy a bit, billie got a new award, mike and brit are dealing with the biggest consequence, ( well i have no idea of Tre, sorry for that ) their get together would be amazing, they would be having a lot new experience, especially Mike. and they'll give us something about their experience. and everytime they something on their own experience, it's just way too amazing, way too great. ( by the way anyone know, how and where is Sir Tre Cool...!! )

  12. I don't want any crazy production or eclectic instruments or different styles for their next album I just want some solid songs. I would take another rock opera but its far from necessary I just want some honest good lyrics and Green Day doing what I love them for musically.

  13. I went through all the lyrics and made a list of songs with repeating choruses. That's how much I love you guys Why Do You Want Him Don't Leave Me Sweet Children Best Thing in Town All By Myself 86 Westbound Sign (The best Green Day song ever) Platypus (I Hate You) Haushinka Take Back Warning Money Money 2020 Are We the Waiting Favorite Son Governator Christian's Inferno American Eulogy Hearts Collide Let Yourself Go Kill the DJ Troublemaker Oh Love See You Tonight Stop When the Red Lights Flash Makeout Party Missing You Walk Away 99 Revolutions Know your enemy doesn't have repeat in the chorus, just the verses, so I didn't include it, same with I Want to Be Alone and some others. and yeah, dat trilogy

  14. Great article and Mike's IG is really one of the the best so far... But is ''Brittney'' so hard to remember for crying out loud ?

  15. What's wrong with parodies? In all seriousness, apart from the Trilogy, which rightfully deserves to be hated ( ), what Green Day stuff have you seen seriously eviscerated here to the point that it's ruined your enjoyment? Apart from Ceadog I'm pretty sure we all still love the band.

  18. Like I said, a matter of opinion. And anyway the original works better as a statement than as a song. It is too underdone as a song to really show oof all of its potential. And that is what Green Day did with their cover. While the original hits me still harder on a pure emotional level, the cover is musically more interesting. Thats the way to do covers anyway to make them feell like they were your own songs while still preserving the main elements that made the song special in the first place.

  23. Oh really? Well it was pretty good so yeah - moar again pls grn dy. Oh and I'm glad I'm crap at analysing stuff - makes me appreciate things for what they are and sometimes it annoys me a bit when every chord, lyric and meaning, or every camera angle, line and plot point has to be dissected. Just enjoy things for what they are!

  24. I'd argue it makes the songs even better. I do understand, in all seriousness--I often wish, particularly with film, that I could regain my analysis virginity and just simply enjoy the damn things.

  25. You guys misunderstood what I was saying. It's not people's opinions that bother. It's not like someone trashing a particular song makes me no longer like it. I just mean that when you spend us much time as we do analyzing everything Green Day, it starts to feel bland and mechanized. That's also partly due to listening to them so often, but part of it comes from the forum. And I'm not hating on you guys or the forum. I'm here because I enjoy it. Also, I loved the 21GDC parodies (or at least the ones I understood), so there's nothing wrong with parodies. I meant more along the lines of lyrically. Stuff like "raw ham" and stuff that I think of when I hear the song and it ruins he moment.

  30. Literally zero evidence to support this opinion, we've been over it before in here. Any "evidence" is absolute rubbish that's judgmental and contrived. The man could be an ass, he could be a saint. But to pretend we know anything is silly

  32. Great find! (Tried to get it w/o watermarks but no luck. *cries*) It's by photographer Scott McDermott of "Billy Joe Armstrong" according to his site. Here it is in a larger size, as well as another photo:

  33. Nah that would give it more importance than it deserves. It's alright to comment if a mention of it comes up and is posted here (I doubt this small discussion is going to go on for pages and pages, looks like it's pretty much over to me), and if a bigger piece of news relating to it came up we'd have a thread for it, but we don't need a whole thread just for speculating about it when it's a private matter and there's nothing of substance to discuss.

  34. I thought Billie was just being Billie and was shouting gibberish, maybe something about food (I'm pretty sure I heard a 'jello' there). Speaking of Rusty James: 'foggy knives and rusty chains.' EDIT: I just remembered. G-L-O-R-I-A "The jello hard I ate." Billie's attempt at Yoda-speak, ladies and gentlemen.
