  9. Homecoming is a great ending with the last lines being "Nobody likes you," but I see Whatsername as sort of an aside. Like, all the characters have their new lives, then Jesus sort of has his solo moment where he reflects.

  10. I think they did it to avoid the cliche/corniness of Good Riddance being the last song. I think it's appropriate for Nimrod too, a strange placement and unexpected ending for a strange, experimental album with lots of unexpected songs on it.

  11. Like an aftershock...... Like a little bit of a return to a harder song so you end with that taste in your mouth instead of a ballad.....Like "Fuck you, we're still Green Day!"

  12. Interesting point, but isn't the same true of Whatsername, See The Light and The Forgotten? They all come after what would be great closers, but Green Day being Green Day always seem to want to do an encore, even in the studio.

  15. The first half of Kerplunk + Who Wrote Holden Caulfield is incredible I think. But it falls off toward the end. That's why Dookie is better to me.

  22. Totally agree. While AAF has an amazing setlist, there are five things that kill it for me compared to BIAB: 1. The mixing. BIAB just sounds more powerful, somehow. 2. Billie's voice. I like that it sounds more raw on BIAB, and even though we've had this conversation many times, I still think that the vocals on AAF sound fucked-with at places. 3. The fact that BIAB is all from one concert gives it a more consistent feel. 4. Comparing the DVDs, the outdoor setting of BIAB makes it feel much less claustrophobic than the arena in AAF. 5. Best versions of "Brain Stew" and "Minority" ever.

  24. I was never in that. Not really, those are just facts. Well, maybe not the asshole part, that's my opinion, but lions do behave like that in the wild. Male who come into a new pride will kill the cubs of the lions who are already there to remove the competitors' genes from the population. They also may kill other predators in the area like leopards or hyenas and then just leave them. That may be a territorial reason or to reduce competition for prey, but still, not many other large predators will do that. Lions are different in that way (and it is almost always the males). Well, I never liked lions very much. They're not very catlike in my opinion and I don't think they're that pretty, but that's just me. I totally agree with you about Billie Joe is just Billie Joe thing, though! It absolutely makes sense! I always find myself thinking about that - how there's no one and nothing else like him and when I try to compare, it's just not possible, because he's Billie. btw, laly
