  1. The end of an era. Great new thread title, though--nice one, Tom. Unpopular opinion: Warning probably had the weakest single choices of their career pre-Trilogy. "Minority" is great, but the title track is too repetitious to be ideal; "Waiting", while great, is one of the album's weaker tracks; and "Macy's Day Parade" is a little too much of a downer to be a radio hit. "Castaway" and "Church on Sunday" would've been ideal.

  2. That three note lead guitar run in the chorus of 21 Guns is the most annoying thing they've ever done.

  3. Billie was great when he played that drunken, violent, foul mouthed vandal. Oh, wait.

  5. Hot Dayum. Here's an opinion on here: Green Day sucks. At least nowadays, they do. The songwriting has gotten very sloppy and makes no sense. I guess I'm more of a fan of the rock operas. If they continue in the writing direction of the trilogy, I'd have now choice but to stop following the band.

  7. Time for a shiny new thread for all you horrible people (me included) to whine about Green Day. The last thread was getting pretty repetitive and far too big. As ever, keep it civil and on-topic. The last thread caused more than its fair share of arguments, but as long as you don't act like an asshat we shouldn't have a problem. The old thread can be found here. Enjoy!

  9. The only way it could possibly work would be to do a The Wall type thing—no dialogue, no singing. Just play the album front to back with quality actors doing their best to channel emotion without saying anything. And look how well that worked for the "Jesus of Suburbia" video.

  10. As much as I love AI as an album, they're already borderline flogging a dead horse. A movie would just be ridiculous.

  11. The fact that everyone acknowledges that Billie is a horrible actor is yet another reason that I am baffled that people still want the AI movie to happen.

  13. Nice title for the topic! Anyways, everyone knows I think the trilogy sucks, I don't need to say it again. (This is my way of saying it again without being too annoying. )

  16. I didn't know they were edited actually. But in that case, they would have edited Brutal Love. That would have been blasphemy, but I guess you can cut the beginning and end a bit and not ruin it too much. It's by far the best song on the trilogy, so I would hope it would have some success!

  17. As for DRB it's meh. The first part and second part aren't too bad, and might work ok as fully developed, individual songs, but the final part? With the random key change, time signature change and the random, unconnected warbling on about getting carried away (where did that even come from?!)? No. You gotta admit though, the bass and guitar solos in the middle are pretty damn cool

  18. here's Nightlife in a nutshell: Poor lyrics Lazy song structure Weak guitar tone Billie Joe harmonizing with himself, and not Mike Excessive riff copying (even for green day) Sooo much tambourine... A girl rapping. I mean, really Green Day? just no! Now tell me what's wrong with DRB.

  26. But they had to change it. They did that cause they didn't wanna be mistaken for this other band in the same area called Sweet Baby.

  28. I didn't like the amount of times Billie used the word fuck on Uno or Dos, rather I think the amount of fucks he gave on Tre was just right.
