    Green Day On This Day

On this day 11 years ago, Green Day played the Belgrade Calling Festival on the 99 Revolutions Tour. More photos: I haven't added them to the Tumblr queue yet but I've got loads more photos of that show if anyone wants me to get them uploaded. 16 years ago (2008), the Foxboro Hot Tubs played The Roxy in Hollywood. No photos, but a message from The Rev: "Oh My! My dear Tub Heads, The first thing I want to say is, and I quote, "Aaaaarrrrrrooufjdjdidsndbvhdhuydhjhyhfjd!!!!!!!" We hit the sunset strip and a RIOT it was! All the honeydips and alligators were sunburned and packed into the hall called The Roxy! We shared the trip with Girls With Guns and sugartowns finest Mystic Knights of the Cobra. The crowd took down the stage, the monitor man did a dive and we took LSD in an asortment of tropical flavors! STING!!!! We hit the hotel with a freakshow of Girls and Cobras. We tried to wake my man Morrisey with soccer chants but we ended up naked in the pool where we were welcomed by the Hollywood Po Po at 4:00 am! STING!!!" What an inspiring quote: "Aaaaarrrrrrooufjdjdidsndbvhdhuydhjhyhfjd!!!!!!!" 22 years ago, Green Day played the Radio 104 Fest 2002. 23 years ago (2001), they played five songs on DC101, including Dominated Love Slave and Like a Rat Does Cheese. They also played HFStival 2001 that night. 26 years ago (1998) they played in Pontiac, MI on the Nimrod Tour. 29 years ago (1995), they played their first show in Oakland since the release of Dookie in aid of Bay Area homeless organisations. More stuff from this show: 30 years ago (1994), Green Day played Café Glocksee in Hannover, Germany on the Dookie Tour.

    Saviors - Album Discussion

Perhaps it turned out to be a great song that didn't fit into Saviors tracklisting, and it'll pop up on a future album. Or maybe not. It's a cool sound, but maybe the rest of it wasn't that great or the lyrics Billie brought to it weren't up to par. Who knows?

    Green Day On This Day

On this day 6 years ago (26 May 2018), The Longshot played the Ottobar in Baltimore, MD. I went to this show too since it was only a short train ride from DC. Me and @Rumpelstiltskin2000 are in front of Billie's mic on that photo – best spot I've ever had! I'm very glad I had my little ticket buying army because I ended up with spare tickets for DC, but wouldn't have got Baltimore without a particular hero who had never even bought concert tickets before. People from Baltimore told us not to line up before the sun rose. Someone was actually murdered right outside the Ottobar. We couldn't check into our Airbnb until later, though, so we just went to the venue. Whenever anyone passed, it was like, "murderer?!" They all cheerily said "morning" as if it was standard to see two English women sitting there with their luggage. We cheerily replied "morning" like it was our daily routine. A police car screeched past, sirens blaring. And THEN a big bus slowed down as it approached. I was absolutely certain it contained murderers. That had to be why it was slowing down. We were going to die. Even the roaches stopped scurrying. The bus turned in to the Ottobar's car park... and we heard singing. The murder wagon was The Longshot's tourbus. At some point during that very hot day (made hotter by the murder wagon pumping extra heat at us), I fell asleep. I woke up to Billie's shoes in front of me. He said he'd take a photo with one person, which would've been Rumpel since she was at the front of the queue, but she hesitated and I wasn't fast enough to shove her towards him before someone else barged in. It was very refreshing to see no-one chasing him when he left though. That was a mostly respectful crowd. The band waved when they came back and Bill kindly left the door open for a while so we could all hear the soundcheck. When the doors finally opened, it was totally surreal to just walk straight to the front row without a stampede behind me because that was the first time I'd ever been #1 in the queue. Thanks, Baltimore's reputation! Some extracts from my recap of that show: After Bastards of Young, I shouted "Wild One" and Billie replied "I could say the same thing about you." I also got a concussion from his arse slamming my face into the amp over and over. Murderer! Anyway, I never wanted to forget how incredible those shows were, so I drew a design on the Greyhound back to NYC and got a Wild One tattoo from the first place I found... with a concussion. There are some very unflattering photos of me on the artist's Instagram. Poor bloke. He thought I'd been partying very hard because of all the blood but no, I was just concussed. He also got flashbacks to tattooing Billie's autograph over and over in 2011 and wishing people would go somewhere else. He's great, by the way, in case anyone here ever finds themselves urgently needing a tattoo in NYC. The only other photos I've got are of the venue/area, the Wild One exchange and me getting a concussion, but here they are: Didn't mean to write a mini essay, but this is what happens when you let me and my unmedicated ADHD talk about The Longshot. ANYWAY! 16 years ago (2008), the Foxboro Hot Tubs played the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach (San Diego), CA. More photos: 23 years ago (2001), Green Day played the WBCN River Rave on the Warning Tour. And 30 years ago (1994), they played in Wermelskirchen, Germany on the Dookie Tour.

    Green Day On This Day

On this day 6 years ago (25 May 2018), The Longshot played the Black Cat in Washington D.C. This was my first Longshot show! And that's me in the pink/blue check shirt in the photo. I'd just started a new job when the tour was announced, but Love is for Losers was and still is one of my favourite things any member of Green Day has ever done, so I knew I had to make it out to the US somehow. Everyone in the training room was trying for tickets and in the end we were all screaming. The big boss walked in and was like "...what the hell is The Longshot?" As soon as I got home, I booked everything for @Rumpelstiltskin2000 and me, which is probably still the best gift I've ever given anyone. I arrived at the venue a bit after 6AM and was 8th in line, which got me that amazing spot in front of Kevin. As soon as they started playing Fell For You, I screamed so loud it made Billie smile, and when the song ended I turned to Rumpel and said, "I can die happy now." Some extracts from the recap I wrote back then: 11 years ago (2013), Green Day played in Trieste, Italy on the 99 Revolutions Tour. More photos by Ivana Sataic: 16 years ago (2008), the Foxboro Hot Tubs played in Phoenix, AZ. More photos: "Hundreds of people stood in line for hours to get into this sold-out show. The now-defunct Brickhouse Theatre was packed to capacity -- so much so that a few people passed out and had to be treated for heat exhaustion outside on the curb. For fans of Green Day, the gig was worth the wait and sweat." — Niki D'Andrea, Phoenix New Times "STING!!!!!!!!!! Here's to hot nights in pheonix!!! The Reverend Strychnine Twitch" — The Rev on MySpace 22 years ago (2002), Green Day played in Burgettstown, PA on the Pop Disaster Tour. 26 years ago (1998), Green Day played the WXDX X-Fest – also in Burgettstown, PA – on the Nimrod Tour. 30 years ago (1994), Green Day played in Ibbenbüren, Germany on the Dookie Tour. And 34 years ago (1990), they played another of many shows at 924 Gilman Street.
