They have been bussines owners since the late 90s. This has nothing to do with anything, and they’ve been criticizing Vance, Elon Musk, Rubio and the whole Trump clique non-stop this past year. Let’s not be overly dramatic. It’s okay to be disappointed, I am too, but we do not need to make stuff up.

"To all the ICE agents out there, wherever you are, quit your sh*tty-ass job. Quit that shitty job you have. Because when this is over — and it will be over at some point in time — Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, JD Vance, Donald Trump, they’re gonna drop you like a bad f*cking habit. Come on this side of the line.” - February 6th -
No he doesn't. Also green day isnt a political band for 20 years now. Why everyone expect something from them besides playing 20 yr old anti bush songs. 21st century breakdown is more relevant than American idiot.

This is an insanely ignorant take. Billie called out Trump by name in that show as he has at countless shows in recent time. Where have you been? 😂 Watch the clip, dude. https://youtube.com/shorts/NrGwAS6gqys?si=LQtwLGyaPgQegJLR

No they didn't. They called out ice. Go ahead find an instance of them using trumps name I'll wait... Hmmm a mask but didn't actually say anything also isn't that in England

They literally called him out the other night at the pre-show concert they did. -
What have they actually said about Trump since 2025? Or even said his name? Nothing .they haven't said his name since 2016. They're business owners now can't rock the boat.

So if dared to sing the song intended and keep the “redneck agenda” line or change or to “maga agenda” cutting maybe 30 secs off would ruin them? I think if they did the medley, played AI got to that part and got cut off it would become a story, more publicity for the band without them losing anything and looking way better than what they are right now which is a forgettable performance. the most charitable take I’ve seen is that the verse in question in AI uses the f slur but Billie could’ve changed that too. -
They just showed billie in the audience, next to adrienne

Maybe Green Day will make a surprise appearance at halftime

Unfortunately, that's not the same thing. Bad Bunny has infinitely more leverage with it being the Half-Time show. The NFL would be foolish as all hell to cut that off, especially since it would be incredibly obvious why they're doing it. -

Now I’m hoping Bad Bunny does something very political cause I think that would be hilarious to everyone acting as if the NFL would send Green Day to a gulag if they stepped out of line lol. As if Green Day can’t afford a fine. Hell, Bruce Springsteen would’ve done more than this lol. -
it probably was, to be honest even though I am a fan of his work I never actually got around to watching it

That's what I heard lol

I think if they had played the halftime show, it would given them more time to do more with it politically. Plus, the beginning is more about the pageantry of it. It was honoring past and current players. It was a little odd they didn’t at least do the maga agenda part for american idiot. But still at this point, no one’s being convinced politically one way or the other by a performance. It could’ve been seen as milking the situation and asking for even more personal attention.

It was either "ice is a racist" or "trump is a racist" from what im seeing

Think of it from a practicality standpoint. You wouldn't expect an employee to start cursing out their boss when the risk of getting fired is all but certain, so why would you expect Green Day to curse out the administration if the chance they'd get their time cut off was all but certain? I'm not saying I didn't want to see the band call out the Trump Administration, but I get why they didn't. -

Someone texted me they thought they heard "One nation where Trump controls the media" but that was just wishful thinking on their end. It's amazing how much publicity the censored "mindfuck America" line is getting. -

I think this article has our answer in it "All Super Bowl performers are required to sign a contract in which they agree to abide by the league’s standards or face a sizable fine." I'd guess that's why they didn't get to say anything too political in it

NFL is huge and powerful as fuck. I think there was a negotiation: Green Day got to play AI and Holiday and NFL got them not to say or show something overly political besides the songs themselves -
