I always look forward with interest to reading your comments, as I do for everyone on here. You, as everyone, are entitled to you opinion. You're deffo not complaining. We all love GD to bits, and we'll all have our fav songs, and some songs not so good, and that's cool. So keep posting.

It’s interesting to see all the dislike for Stay Young, because I feel like that’s the “strongest” of the B-Sides that were released today (so excluding Ballyhoo and Belushi). I really liked the instrumentals and I think there was a theme that could’ve been fleshed out more, but I figure this song was cut before they could work on it more. The chorus is also very repetitive, which I don’t love, but that’s another piece where I think it would’ve changed if they kept it in and worked on it more.

I finally got a chance to listen to these new songs and yeah I don't know what they were going for here. None of them even feel like they belong with the rest of the album, they're honestly closer to The Longshot or the new PHGP album than Saviors. Even though Belushi didn't leave much of an impression on me, I was fine with that track when I thought at the time that it was just a leftover for Saviors. But no, these songs were apparently made after Saviors specifically for the Deluxe which just makes me wonder why it's so much worse than the actual album? None of the tracks work as actual album tracks imo. I think Ballyhoo, Fuck Off and Underdog work as "B-side" type tracks even though they aren't actually B-sides. Smash It Like Belushi has only shrunk on me with more listens. Stay Young is extremely boring, repetitive and overly long. The acoustics seem unnecessary, they don't improve the songs, they're barely any different and I don't see why anyone would choose to listen to them over their originals. Very disappointing release and I didn't have very high expectations anyway. If I were to rank the entirety of Saviors + these new Deluxe songs, I think all 5 of the new tracks would probably rank at the very bottom. Maybe a couple of them would surpass One Eyed Bastard (which is my personal least favourite of the og album, I wish they were releasing a music video for a different song). I'll give them some more listens but yeah, not expecting my opinion on these tracks to change massively Apparently according to people here and on r/greenday, people giving their opinions or any kind of criticism after listening to them is them "complaining"

A couple of years ago there was a rumour that Billie Joe was having problems with his voice. I don't know how true or false those claims where, but listening to Billie Joe's performance on the two acoustic songs, his voice is as clear and strong as ever. Still the complete package, singer, songwriter, musician and performer.

My ranking would be 1. Fuck Off 2. Smash It Like Belushi 3. Ballyhoo 4. Underdog 5. Stay Young Yeah it's pretty boring and repetitive as fuck

Fuck Off misses the mark for me compared to its predecessors like FOD, Platypus and Let Yourself Go. It’s mostly tempo and vocal delivery. It’s too damn slow and he’s singing it straight. I feel like he should be putting more venom and attitude into it like he does those earlier songs. He could be singing about anything. Maybe that’s the joke but that’s why it’s a weaker attempt imo.

A big well done to Green Day Store. Postie delivered record at 7am this morning. I was a tad dubious ordering from them as past shipping experiences, particularly for @The Grohl left a lot to be desired. But Amazon where very sluggish in loading ordering info to their site this time, so I risked it. Boy oh boy, now I've got the set. 3 Saviors records, the original, the Japanese bonus, and now the deluxe. 🙂

For as safe as it felt, the original release of Saviors last January was universally praised for its “back to their roots” approach to songwriting for Green Day. As a longtime fan, I was glad to see the band pulling back from their recent pop-rock tendencies, though it largely felt like ground already trod. When it comes to these deluxe tracks, I actually do appreciate the few here that stray away from their typical formula, such as “Stay Young”. While the track is just as melodic as ever, the structure overall feels a bit more akin to classic rock, with lyrics that reflect the fleeting joys of times gone by. “Fuck Off” is another song that’s just pure fun. Running at 2 minutes, this track feels like a distant cousin to “The Grouch”. While not as biting as songs like that or “Let Yourself Go”, I appreciate the fast, hectic nature of it all. The acoustic versions of Suzie & Father are nice, and “Underdog” has the same attitude/tone as some of the cuts off of the Nimrod/Warning era. Overall, a solid pack of tracks here. I can see why these are deluxe inclusions, but for big fans of this band (us), I think they warrant at least a listen

F Off is pretty good. The rest of the brand new ones could’ve had some improvements whether it was being less minimalistic with the music on Stay Young, or being better structure wise on Underdog. All the new b-sides at least song wise are good, but again things about them could’ve been a lot better. And the acoustic versions just seemed unnecessary. They already were kinda stripped down, didn’t really need to be again.

You are so right! But here it is quite okay compared to Reddit. The comments there are ugh... ☹️ As for me, I like the new songs. I just wish the lyrics weren't so repetitive sometimes. But overall I'm happy!😊

God there’s no pleasing some of you 🤣 if we never got new music you’d complain, we get new music more often you complain it’s not good enough. Just take it for what it is, extra songs to finish out the era. I’ve never known a group of fans to be sooooo critical about every last thing

I love Saviors, but this isn’t it. Smash it like Belushi and Ballyhoo are fun and catchy, but the other new songs feel more like C-sides. The acoustic songs sound like lesser versions of the originals.

I won't be able to listen until tonight/tomorrow. It's exciting with new music but don't have the highest expectations.

I really wish they would have actually written a chorus for Stay Young. I like what it has going on but it definitely feels incomplete. Nothing really stands out for me besides Belushi. I still enjoy that a lot, but unfortunately it gave me high hopes for the rest.

I did a playlist or an alternate fan made green day album ( or a saviors/1972 double album) since those 5 new songs didn't fit on saviors 15 track album (I love all songs from saviors no skips) Here's the tracks (Oh man i really wish they should have release those 7 bonus tracks as a standalone EP) 1. I found Smash It Like Belushi and Ballyhoo to be the highlights from the deluxe for me, and even they aren't top tier songs by any means. Stay Young - 7/10 - Lyrically the best of the bunch and the melody is pretty catchy. Musicality of Whatsername with the lyrical themes of X-Kid. The song definitely drags and unfortunately feels the length of its run-time. The chorus could really be something great if it didn't just repeat "Stay young, stay young" over and over. Fuck Off - 6/10 - guitar riff is the same as C.U.N.T. from The Network. It's a self aware ridiculous song that strives to do what Platypus, FOD, and Take Back did but not nearly as successful at attaining it. Incredibly repetitve. Pretty standard by the books track, nothing special but also not bad. Underdog - 6/10 - weird choice to have an entirely different production feel for this track. Not a fan of the production and mixing on this one. Almost feels like a demo mix compared to the rest of the tracks and doesn't feel like it fits the Saviors era (although most of the bonus tracks feel that way to an extent). Again very repetitive. Production and repetitive nature really detract from what could have been a better song. Feels almost unfinished. Having this end with the album on repeat does lead nicely into The American Dream Is Killing Me oddly enough. The acoustic tracks didn't do much for me at all. They're just not as exciting minimalistic alternative takes of the originals. Was hoping for more changes and substantial vocal differences which they didn't deliver. Overall, I see why these are bonus tracks. They aren't bad and aren't great, but if this was released as a standalone EP or as proper album tracks on a next album following Saviors I would be highly disappointed. Glad Saviors era got to be extended through this and I truly hope the songs grow on me more. As it sits now, I likely won't revisit these too often once the novelty of new songs wears off.
