Today I was in the kitchen listening to FOAM (because I quite like it from time to time) when my husband came home and said „What’s wrong with you now? No Green Day?“🤣

A Treasure Trove of Unseen Early GD Video is About to be Unleashed

This one has been a long time coming. Arica Pelino asked me about this tape so many times and I could not find it in her magic suitcase, until I moved it to make room for a NEW collection (to be announced tomorrow!). Finally! Sorry for the delay, Arica. This tape is an odd one. It takes place shortly after the band's legendary Woodstock 94 show and Lollapalooza tour as an opener. They are playing CSDH that night (I was there!) and that's around where this happens. Arica says she thinks she taped this off the radio, but it sure sounds like a Pre-FM thing to me. The interviewer's mic is off/distant. Wacky, jet-lagged chaotic interview. Recorded by: Arica? Transfer by: Shayne Stacy Equipment used: Nakamichi Dragon and M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card -

VIP and Ticket Prices Discussion
solongfromthestars replied to solongfromthestars's topic in Green Day Chat
Luxembourg was pretty good. Access to water would have been nice because we were left waiting in the sun for quite a while, but the VIP host used tape to make sure we walked and entered the pit one at a time. I didn't go to Stockholm but heard it was the same. In Amsterdam we were forced to walk very slowly in single file but I don't know if that was down to the VIP host or the Ziggo Dome staff (who were amazing), because the VIP host never actually came back to the Calling All Saviors people 😅 She may well have instructed the staff to do that though. Overall I was impressed. I'm hopeful that although 237 Global ignored our complaint last year, they did actually take some of the advice on board. Still think they sold WAY too many though - the barrier was almost gone once the CAS people had gone in and as we've said many, many times, the front row shouldn't be exclusive to people who can afford VIP prices. -
I do know of people who bought Welcome to Paradise VIPs for every show just to film, but I wasn't affected by that with Calling All Saviors tickets. Good vibes all around and I knew most of the people behind me in the queues as the same dedicated fans I've been seeing for years. Some of them had also bought WTP tickets for one or two shows. I still don't agree with VIP tickets but I don't think it's a guaranteed crowd killer.
-
This was my experience at the Paris show last year. I had a normal ticket and queued all day, only to end up in second row behind people who I only heard singing along to major hits, who didn't jump even when Billie encouraged people to do so (rude!), and one lady who was just filming the whole show, but at least was nice to people around her, and one guy who told me off for brushing against him when waving my arms during Bohemian Rhapsody. That's what made me decide to go for VIP at least for the Vienna shows, because I thought those tickets will go to someone anyways, so better they go to me than to some casual listener who buys them because they're the only tickets left. For this tour though, the people in the VIP queue were largely the same people I had met in the normal queue last year: people following the band through different countries and different tours through the years. If these folks want to spend a lot of time recording the show, that would not be my choice (I normally only record during one or two songs, and always songs that I've heard live a handful of times before and are not among my favorites), but it's theirs and I respect that, and I'm even grateful for that, because I know someone will capture the cool moments. And really, if you see their videos afterwards you can hear them singing along and freaking out 😅 so they're not really made with that influencer mindset of having a perfect "instagramable" video I think.
-
Agreed. I didn't get VIP but when I saw the line outside the venues and those who had barrier, it was a lot of people I recognized from previous tours. Maybe influencers is a problem with other bands but I can't say that was the vibe I was getting from the shows I went to.
-
I can’t confirm this at all. Have you been at any of the European shows? At the ones I went to, the FOS area as well as the VIP queues were full of crazy dedicated fans. No influencers to be seen, or I didn’t recognize them.😅
-
That man loves a hat!
-
I know! It's hard being back in an environment where "they played [insert here deep cut song title] 😭" is a sentence and a feeling that require a lot of explanation, which will just be received with a lot of eye rolls and/or confused expressions 😂
-
i remember the old Idiot club for just a few bucks that let you get early entry etc not a fan of all the VIP FOS GoldenCircle stuff nowadays ... most of the shows i went too that had this kind of stuff have been pretty lame, you get all the influencers etc at FOS who constantly film, and the other fans back in the general standing area, but atleast its them who make some effort to jump around etc

Good luck with the essay! I'd love to read it Actually if you want help proof reading DM me, because I am an absolute FREAK who enjoys proof reading, lol -
We should really give the band a break now. And our wallets too, haha. I think this whole VIP thing kind of ruins a lot of the excitement beforehand … but I guess we’ll have to get used to it for future tours. It’ll probably get even more expensive.
-
This tour was the first time I had a „queuing experience“ and more contact with other fans, and it wasn’t until afterwards that I realized that this was a big part of what made it so special. So whenever they’ll be back, VIP tickets, queuing and WhatsApp groups again for me, please!🙂
-
Late as usual 🤣 I discovered that there’s a deluxe version of Awesome as Fuck on Spotify. I just listened to Christie Road live and it blew me away! OMG it’s so beautiful!❤️
-
Please we *need* this! Let there be a live album of the Dookie/AI anniversary/Saviors tour.

For the folks that had VIP tickets to more shows than just Vienna, how was the experience at the other shows?

Definitely. 🩷 I wasn't queing for any of the shows. Same as the last tour before of the VIPs and it's definitely different. It's by no means similar standing next to someone who freaks out during 21 guns and next to someone who get's as excited as you when they play the deep cuts. Standing with someone you've been queing with all day at the barrier is sort of like "we made it". 😅👸🏼 My experiences with queing in Paris has been the worst. From people in the queue, the crowd and to security (all from handeling the queue/moving us to different places, letting us in, one guard physically held me back without any reason, I wasn't running or anything, refusing to give information in English and one security guard wouldn't give me water until a French man next to me asked in French. It was very obvious what I was asking for). Glad your experience was good. 🩷 -

Hey! I'm 34, still queuing, jumping up and down and singing along to every song, and no intention to quit in the foreseeable future, and in the queues I've met people much older than I am, who are also traveling to see Green Day, also queuing all day to get a good spot, and also super hyped to see their favorite band. Your enjoyment of the band and of live music doesn't have an expiration date.
