BenGill started following My Highschool Band
-
My highschool Rock band. Equal parts Green Day, Pearl Jam and Rush. Catchy, Proggy, Punk Rock made by 3 highschool students from New Jersey. My older cousin gave me his Revolution Radio CD, along with CDs of American Idiot, 21st Century Breakdown and Demolicious, and an oldschool CD player for my 9th birthday in 2018. I bought the Foxboro Hottubs album on CD at a record store that Summer. Those albums shaped my taste in music to this day. It also just felt awesome listening on outdated tech. I could've just streamed everything, but there's something about a physical CD that makes you feel like you own it. Like a collection. Plus that CD player had a subwoofer and my phone still doesn't! Anyway, facking check out our album here... https://promnightbasterdz.bandcamp.com/album/backstreet-anthems

hahhah I like proof-reading, too. Probably not as much as you do lol. I am a journalist with an editor, so they do it for me. -

I had the same with the Insomniac tracks in Vienna. π It really isn't the same. Thank you. π©· I'm glad you had a good experience. π©· I have heard many who's had the same problems unfortunately. I have never experienced so many people not respecting people who have been queing as I have for shows in Paris. Not knowing proper English to explain something is fine but everything could have been solved better than it was. The guy who wouldn't give me water, that was solely because I don't speak French. There's no doubt in my mind. We had been queing in the heat all day and still. Total douchebag. When I went to Brussels for the Rev Rad tour no one who was queing knew French and one girl tried to use some of her school French to talk to the guards. They just laughed at her and didn't bother to respond. All combined with how people acted in the queue, inside the venue (some of the people I had been queing with went to the bar instead of dealing with other's who had standing tickets) and with security, I said to myself that I would never be queing for a show in France again. I did an exception for Bataclan because of the venue size. π I had seats last year for Paris and even then several of the guards asked me why I don't speak French. So yeah, I have absolutely no desire to learn French. π -

The people next to me getting super excited with 21 Guns and being completely indifferent to Saviors was literally the case for me in Ams And I am sorry you have had such terrible experiences here! How common these stories are really makes me worry that my mostly positive experience in France last year were just a fluke and that next time it will be a disaster. The security guy not giving you water is some real asshole-ry. But I will only partially defend the ones not giving instructions in English - it might be that they really didn't speak English, even if maybe they could understand a bit. In France is not at all like in Germanic and Scandinavian countries, where it's pretty standard that most people speak English. Still though, if there were any locals in the queue, I would expect at least some of them would be able to help translate for the non-French folks π -

Ryan Baxley posted a video of someone quite far away surfing and I thought it could be Billie Joe. He doesnβt seem to have saved it, did anyone see it?

I have a lovely Polish gentleman painting the outside of my house. He came in to the kitchen, saw my Saviors listening party poster and said, βGreen Day, great band, one of my favouritesβ. We talk music every day and he showed me some pics from a friend of his taken in 1991 when green Day first went to Poland.

This one has been a long time coming. Arica Pelino asked me about this tape so many times and I could not find it in her magic suitcase, until I moved it to make room for a NEW collection (to be announced tomorrow!). Finally! Sorry for the delay, Arica. This tape is an odd one. It takes place shortly after the band's legendary Woodstock 94 show and Lollapalooza tour as an opener. They are playing CSDH that night (I was there!) and that's around where this happens. Arica says she thinks she taped this off the radio, but it sure sounds like a Pre-FM thing to me. The interviewer's mic is off/distant. Wacky, jet-lagged chaotic interview. Recorded by: Arica? Transfer by: Shayne Stacy Equipment used: Nakamichi Dragon and M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card -

VIP and Ticket Prices Discussion
solongfromthestars replied to solongfromthestars's topic in Green Day Chat
Luxembourg was pretty good. Access to water would have been nice because we were left waiting in the sun for quite a while, but the VIP host used tape to make sure we walked and entered the pit one at a time. I didn't go to Stockholm but heard it was the same. In Amsterdam we were forced to walk very slowly in single file but I don't know if that was down to the VIP host or the Ziggo Dome staff (who were amazing), because the VIP host never actually came back to the Calling All Saviors people π She may well have instructed the staff to do that though. Overall I was impressed. I'm hopeful that although 237 Global ignored our complaint last year, they did actually take some of the advice on board. Still think they sold WAY too many though - the barrier was almost gone once the CAS people had gone in and as we've said many, many times, the front row shouldn't be exclusive to people who can afford VIP prices. -
I do know of people who bought Welcome to Paradise VIPs for every show just to film, but I wasn't affected by that with Calling All Saviors tickets. Good vibes all around and I knew most of the people behind me in the queues as the same dedicated fans I've been seeing for years. Some of them had also bought WTP tickets for one or two shows. I still don't agree with VIP tickets but I don't think it's a guaranteed crowd killer.
-
This was my experience at the Paris show last year. I had a normal ticket and queued all day, only to end up in second row behind people who I only heard singing along to major hits, who didn't jump even when Billie encouraged people to do so (rude!), and one lady who was just filming the whole show, but at least was nice to people around her, and one guy who told me off for brushing against him when waving my arms during Bohemian Rhapsody. That's what made me decide to go for VIP at least for the Vienna shows, because I thought those tickets will go to someone anyways, so better they go to me than to some casual listener who buys them because they're the only tickets left. For this tour though, the people in the VIP queue were largely the same people I had met in the normal queue last year: people following the band through different countries and different tours through the years. If these folks want to spend a lot of time recording the show, that would not be my choice (I normally only record during one or two songs, and always songs that I've heard live a handful of times before and are not among my favorites), but it's theirs and I respect that, and I'm even grateful for that, because I know someone will capture the cool moments. And really, if you see their videos afterwards you can hear them singing along and freaking out π so they're not really made with that influencer mindset of having a perfect "instagramable" video I think.
-
Agreed. I didn't get VIP but when I saw the line outside the venues and those who had barrier, it was a lot of people I recognized from previous tours. Maybe influencers is a problem with other bands but I can't say that was the vibe I was getting from the shows I went to.
-
I canβt confirm this at all. Have you been at any of the European shows? At the ones I went to, the FOS area as well as the VIP queues were full of crazy dedicated fans. No influencers to be seen, or I didnβt recognize them.π
