Thank you! Now that I've listened again and picked up on the difference - yeah, that's a doozy of an unforced error

This was a fine boxset. Demos are interesting. Otis mixes are good. The live show....it was good but jeez does it need some editing. I do not want 11 minutes of Knowledge. I also don't want long pauses with faint crowd cheering where I assume the guys are doing something on stage. Watching it is fine but whatever is happening doesn't translate well for an audio recording. Some of the live songs I loved like Castaway and Blood Sex and Booze but everything else? Eh.... It really wore out its welcome. Also I compared warning 25 to the other sets and while warning 25 is solid I'm so happy for the price drop because the bonus goodies are lacking. The dookie one had so much cool random stuff that made the sticker price worth it. I'm always happy for a green day anniversary release but I agree they should take a break from it. They're starting to feel a bit undercooked (cough cough Saviors deluxe).

im not sure what it is, but mike dirnt, to me at least, just gives off transgender vibes....... no idea why very confusing...

I believe that is the case, yes. I think the ending is slightly truncated on the Shenanigans version is what's up, and that's the version on the box.

After a long time I picked up the guitar again and I got into recording phase. I want to share some more of what Iāve recorded I remember listening to Green Day when I was 12 and being fascinated by the guitar sound/rhythm, especially Billie's style. Before I started playing guitar for real I used to do so called ,,air guitar'', immitating Billie. So by the time I grabbed a real guitar I arleady had a good sense of rhythm/ strumming in my head. (I certainly don't hold power chords like Billie, and that actually deserves a separate mention too; it's very characteristic; does anyone hold power chords like Billie ??)

I donāt play bass and donāt want to buy one. But watching Mike talk about it is niceā¦

It would have been an interesting addition if it was the whole album of an Otis mix instead of just the two tracks. Nice to get an album remaster nonetheless. It's great we got demos, but the b-sides (mostly) being a re-release from Shenanigans and International Superhits felt like a double dip.
-
The live tracks were a fun listen, even though they didn't sound like the boys were quite at the top of their game. I have a question though- there was some discussion a bunch of pages back about the version of Suffocate that was included. Were you guys referring to the Shenanigans mix vs. the one from the GR single? I can't find the posts now.

I don't blame you. IMO they shouldn't release another anniversary edition for some time. We've had so many in the past few years and it seems like the consensus on this one is that the added value just isn't there to justify it. Especially at the utterly absurd price points. It's starting to feel like an upsell to get a quick buck from die-hard fans and I wish they'd just lie low for a few years preparing for the next album cycle.

Totally agreeš -
There will probably be a 21st CB 20th Anniversary Edition and it will be around the release of the new album or just after. I'm expecting even a stronger album than Saviors with many fresh ideas next. š

This. It's the same for the Dookie anniversary. We get it, 10 minutes of chaos and noice was cool at Woodstock. But that's it. I want music, good recordings and not Longview and Basket Case for the 1769th time and half of the live album consisting of shenanigansš I literally cannot hear the difference between the remastered tracks and the originals. Where do I look? š
-
Yeah, agree. It's one of my favourite songs by the band and the simple, driving rhythm section is what makes the song so great. IMO feels lacking without it.

Dry Ice , 1991. 13 years old. Love @greenalert997x guide. In Guitar World, interesting article on string spacing if anyone's interested. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/lifestyle/lifestylegeneral/why-string-spacing-can-radically-change-the-way-an-electric-guitar-plays/ar-AA1JEj5U?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=EDGEDB&cvid=691b6114fbb1460b8351ddda00025a42&ei=35

The remaster sounds great, the demos are pretty standard but have some highlights. Church On Sunday demo is a big stand out for me despite not being very different from the final version. Wish the vocals on Jackass demo were louder because I really can't make out any of the different lyrics at all. I like the Otis mixes and love the idea of them overall, but I don't seem to be as hyped on these as some others have been. Macy's Day Parade is great and Waiting is good, but I can't help but feel that the feedback on the guitar detracts from Waiting in certain spots. Particularly after the long pause. Not having everything kick in altogether loses a bit of punch. Still need to dig into the live show more. Overall, a solid box set. Probably the least interesting overall (excluding Insomniac's anniversary release) and my least favorite, but again the remaster alone was worth it. Sounds phenomenal. Current ranking for anniversary box sets would probably be Nimrod, American Idiot, Dookie, Warning.

Why did they not record Church on Sunday or When I Come Around in any way, shape or form at the concert? Was there an issue? Did the band want a couple songs to be special and just for those people? What was the deal?
-
I didn't purchase the Dookie box or deluxe Insomniac. I've got the Nimrod, Idiot and Warning boxes and I'm thinking about what releases they will do in the future and whether I will want to purchase them or not. I guess it depends on what extras there are, but I think I might be good on Green Day box sets.
