As a not American and not a football fan the fuss about this every year baffles me slightly but fine, it seems like a good event for GD, politics aside. Looking at the political climate, it seems to me the NFL are making a fairly pointed statement with all their entertainment picks this year and I see lots of maga outrage. I hope they play AI and I hope Billie is his usual self and says something at some point. If Kristi Noemi’s threatening putting lots of ICE agents in the crowd I hope it doesn’t turn into a horrible, violent riot. That would be some juxtaposition while that line about “the land of the free” is being sung too! Hope it’s broadcast outwith US, I know the Super Bowl is but not sure about the surrounding events. Did they not play some sort of Super Bowl party last year too?

My IG feed was flooded with statements on the matter and I took the following information from that: It‘s the first time for the Super Bowl to have an opening ceremony, and it’s because of their 60 year anniversary. The organizers booked three acts that don’t go well with the MAGA crowd, beside Bad Bunny and GD there‘s Brandi Carlisle to sing the national anthem. She‘s openly queer and married to a woman. So I get the impression that the NFL maybe doesn’t like the current political climate and wants to make a statement? As for ICE raids I saw a statement by Kristi Noem herself that there will be lots of ICE agents in the stadium… So that seems to be true unfortunately… Edit: Carlisle will not sing the national anthem but „America the Beautiful“, the unofficial hymn. Still… Yes, I‘ve seen that too. And so many statements that this turns people into GD fans!😅 I very much hope that our band won’t disappoint the expectations…

As will a lot of other people. Everyone I've seen (in non-GD forums) has been excited about this because they expect him to say something. It'll reflect poorly if he doesn't.

If they agree to no political songs and no political messages I will be highly disappointed.

the super bowl halftime act never gets any money payed as far as i remember so GD could maybe also get no money at all and since this is the NFL and broadcasted live around the world i could imagine there could be some sort of contract on what songs they are allowed to play and/or that they wont make any political statement during their show i also guess they will pre-record the instruments audio prior to the show, so it will just be billie with his voice who is actually live?

I don't think its a well known fact, then. If you were to check your copy through a spectrogram, I guarantee that it is lossy. I have been searching for a real lossless version for years lol never really thought of asking here though about further info

I definitely don't think Green Day are doing it just for the money but because they want to, and probably because they think it's a nice big platform to send a nice big public message to ICE. Now, is the super bowl doing this just to appease the people who are pissed that Bad Bunny in all his Puerto Rican and Spanish speaking glory is the half time act? I don't know. Have they always had an opening ceremony, or is this something they invented this year? (it's the first time I hear about it, but it might be because I just don't normally care for this event). If it was invented this year, then yes, having an English-speaking band might be a choice to balance a bit the Bad Bunny thing. But still, Bad Bunny remains the main act, so I don't see how this takes away from him? And if they chose Green Day to appease the MAGA crowd well... they have a surprise coming their way, and the people who made that choice without spending 5 minutes googling the band would surely be fired the day after. All this to say, I think they probably chose Green Day to send the message of "fine, we'll give you an act from an American band, singing all in English, with the 3 whitest dudes, but they also hate you, so you should really take a look at yourself" rather than to appease the MAGA folks As for the comment about ICE raiding the crowd during the show, I have no idea if there's any information to back that up. I seem to remember reading at some point that Bad Bunny didn't want to do many US dates in his current tour because he was afraid that ICE agents would target his shows given the predominately hispanic crowds he draws (this is something I might have seen in passing on Instagram so no idea if it's true or not), so I guess maybe the comment from that? Really? I'm pretty much counting on them definitely doing American Idiot and Holiday, would be surprised if they didn't.

I'm sure this has been mentioned at some point in time on this forum, but does anyone know why Working Class Hero has never had a lossless version available on streaming or physical media? Was the incorrect master file sent to the campaign? As far as officially released Green Day songs goes, I think this might be the only song from their discography that is exclusively lossy. I'm really curious if anyone knows an actual reason behind this or have the real lossless version. In other words, if you have an *actual* lossless version of Working Class Hero, pls share
