You don't get fined by the FCC for saying the words Trump or ICE. That's for breaking rules on profanity and nudity etc. It's not about owing it's about putting your money where your mouth is if you claim to be punk Yes but the difference is he actually did it and didn't do a heavily censored version of it. Saying "God bless America" and then naming the Latin American countries is a significant statement. I am glad they played those songs but I feel them being censored the way they were removed their impact

I was nervous for their safety too! And Bad Bunny had to wear a bullet proof vest. ☹️ We live in troubled times. These things usually are just a medley. (They did something in 2020 for the Super Bowl that had a similar format.) For the short amount of time, I thought Green Day picked great songs that still made a statement. It was neat that they flipped the usual order and started with Good Riddance. The string instruments playing as the MVPs walked past—beautiful! Billie Joe said some great things at the Pier 29 concert 2 days before (can be found on social media). I don’t usually pay attention to football or SuperbOwls, but I was really excited for this one. I was thrilled that GREEN DAY played at the Super Bowl (!!) and they were awesome! I loved the Bad Bunny halftime show! And lastly, my Seahawks won!! 💙💚 There was good energy all around. 💚💚💚

I will definitely check it out! I've always liked what Bad Bunny stands for and how outspoken he is so I'm happy to finally take some time out to listen to his music. Some of the songs he performed took me right back to my friend's birthday parties when we were young 😂 I just wish my mom could've seen it. She loved Latin music and would've lost her mind at seeing Ricky Martin!

I have to confess I've not kept up with the thread but I just wanted to say how excited I was to hear Billie scream "Welcome to the Bay! NFL 60!" I'm not from there but how cool is that for him and the guys coming from playing shitty venues feeling like there was possibly no hope to opening the Super Bowl on home soil. Absolutely amazing. I was so proud that was my band (figuratively of course )

I bet Green Day still has ambitions of playing the half time show at some point even if it is unlikely. If that is the case they have to respect the wishes of the organisers at an event like this. You play by their rules or you don't get the opportunity again.

Good Riddance will hit 1 Billion streams on Valentines Day or so. When I Come Around will be the next one to hit 1 Billion, but we won't see that happen for many moons. Here we are. In a world where Basketcase, American Idiot, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends and Good Riddance are the song that define Green Day, at least to the world at large. How does that make you feel?

People complaining are asinine! Fines would be in the millions…people forget the Janet Jackson thing that started all of that. She was not helped by that at all. Also the Super Bowl doesn’t have to be about politics and statements people and families of all ages and backgrounds watch it’s one of the few things that bring people together….if they went off and just protested off script their mics would be shut down, and it would be cut. Also it’s not the time and place to make it about you. It’s fair to say playing the songs they played was good enough…of course he was bleeped he said fuck I wonder if that might get him a fine. You guys sound like Gilman street in the 90’s these guys are not JUST a political band…cant they also have fun and enjoy the moment?!?! They don’t owe us anything.
