2,000 light years away’s re-recorded song can be heard on the jerky boys soundtrack and on YouTube. I love it. The Richard Dood remix of nimrod did he remix the whole album and why? If so is that available on YouTube or anywhere? Insomniac has imo the best live tracks they are super fast and raw and peak 90’s GD love the speed of the songs. 21st century breakdown will be the best re release on my view

Amy is to Green Day as Candle In The Wind is to Elton John. This post is brought to you by Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Interesting, I wonder how they'd incorporate that. Like it'd be interesting to have it actually added to the sequence of the album, as opposed to tacked on the end. On that note, I was looking up the Australian bonus track version on Discogs, and it claims that "You Lied" was the remix by Richard Dodd, but I don't see mention of that on the CD. That mix would have been on the Good Riddance single, though. Like I said earlier, it'd be nice to have a home for the radio remixes, though they're not as drastic as the Otis remixes from Warning. The Dodd remixes of Redundant and Good Riddance would have been the hit single versions, yet they're pretty rare nowadays. You'd think the greatest hits album(s) would provide a home for them. I think you can still hear the remix of Redundant on the music video, but the audio for Good Riddance might be subbed out. I think Insomniac's only remix was Walking Contradiction; you can still hear Steve Holroyd's remix on the music video. If a proper Insomniac anniversary set gets released down the line, that and the original Good Riddance are prime candidates.

A little over a year and a half since Saviors came out, so when could we start hearing any rumors or hints about album 15?
That Dude replied to GDFan2019's topic in Green Day Chat
I'm listening to The Clash, Weezer, Rancid, Pucifer, Rehab, 3 Doors Down, U2, Kid Rock, Gooseworx, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Moby, Metaroom, Shooter Jennings, Shinedown, NOFX, Viagra Boys, New Found Glory, Codefendants, Jack Black, Obscurist Vinyl, Joynar Lucas, Chart Attack, The Queers, Eminem, The Killers, John Carpenter, REM, Beck, Converge, L'Orchestra Cinematique, POD, Spinning Cat and that's just this week. -
Perhaps you’re right and it’s a local radio thing only! But then again many ppl from across the country has claimed to have to heard it before so maybe it was a thing warner made and distributed to radio stations.
-
I'm convinced that it was through digital distribution; I've tracked down all the US radio single CDs, and even tried some foreign Holiday singles, but none had that edit. It might be specific to a radio station, if not for feedback from other people around the country back when I was on the hunt.
-
The only versions I know of are the Radio Edit (with "Sieg Heil" completely silenced and "F*gs" censored) and the Clean Radio Edit (with "F*gs" censored), on both those edits the last chorus starts at around 3:03. If the bridge was cut the last chorus would start on around 2:18 and the whole song would be around 3:03 long. Maybe the version you're mentioning was done by local radio stations and was never pressed on CD's? I'm not sure. I have never seen any Holiday promo CD's out there with such an edit, but I don't want to discourage you in your quest That one BOBD promo with the Pop edits only popped up a few yeas ago, so one like that for "Holiday" might be sold some day.

Looks like there will be a video with Mike soon on a popular Scott's Bass Lessons channel!

Dookie one is almost perfect (Barcelona previously unreleased + Christie road studio versión) Nimrod should include suffocate and desensitized on the album. Bille said he regrets not including them in the original, so It was an oportunity to correct that. I hate the low volume of live tracks of american idiot and warning. Sounds like bootlegs

The engraving inside a ring lasts years and years, it’s the outside that wears which is why most wedding rings are plain. Billie has had a number, some have looked gold, possibly platinum but all plain, some different shapes and widths and then the dark one he has been wearing for the last couple of years but this one looks very bright gold.
-
Is it weird for me to say i like how billie is shaped. Like not in a "oh yeah billie so hawt haha i like the shape of his body" way but more like "Oh haha ya sphere here square here spheres and triangles and squares and triangle yeah haha i like the shapes on billie "
-
The only ring I've ever noticed being different is the engraved one that has 80 and a bunch of other stuff engraved on it. I have no idea what magazine I saw that picture on or even when in the last 30 years. I just remember I thought it was so personal and cool. Most of the time when people engrave rings they do it on the inside and I'm always thinking, what's the point of that? It'll wear out and you don't get to see it. Other than maybe a change in metals, I generally don't notice the difference in wedding bands otherwise even on my friends! I am also a bridesmaid in an upcoming wedding and I had to be told the bride changed her mind and got a different dress than the one we picked out together. I'm not the most observant.

Live albums were traditionally cut down for length; most people don't seem to have a problem with Bullet in a Bible's presentation. But most will agree that we want all the songs, even if the chatter and looped parts are cut. I'd rarely listen to those extended live tracks at home, but somehow it makes road trips go faster. 21CB is VERY likely. That album probably wasn't far behind Dookie and American Idiot in terms of popularity. If Warning can get this kind of love, there's no telling what else is on the table. The Lookout albums would be cool, but there's just not as much in the vault. I know they have decent soundboard recordings for each era, so if it's only an album/live album combo, I'd be a happy camper. If they manage to find even one unreleased studio track, I'm preordering immediately. As of late, I'd believe it. Too many silly mistakes and shortcuts slipping through the cracks. If they could use the wrong master of American Idiot for an American Idiot release, then anything's possible. The issue of withholding tracks has also made me a bit jaded; the BBC Sessions remove two tracks from the sessions, and the deluxe version of Saviors still kept a Japanese bonus track off the album.

Huh, I must be blind because I never noticed he changes his ring. Even though I regularly zoom in on them lol. 🙃 I thought he always wore a fancy one. 😅 When my sister and I watched the performance the both of us appreciated how extra Tre was. 😍 I love how he always matches his make-up and outfits.
-
Yes, Tre was a fashion highlight. I was impressed! I got video footage of the show on IG regularly, and in the comment section there always were people suspecting that Billie was wearing a wig. The floof must be too impressive too be true…😂
-
Just watched the Super Bowl performance again and I noticed Billie is wearing a different wedding ring. This is a gold one but it looks fancy rather than plain, but definitely not the dark one he has been wearing recently. I can’t decide if he has loads and just changes them or loses them regularly. Also, how smart was Tre with his matching drums/tie/high tops and the stripe on his shorts!

My sister in law and her boyfriend were over last night and she was looking at my CD collection and was impressed by how many Green Day albums I have and asked if I had them all, I said "except for two" (RevRad and FOAM), and my partner says "except for DOS!" So proud of him. I started laughing and his sister and the boyfriend were confused so I had to pull out the album DOS and explain. I'm not even sure how it has registered with him that that album exists, since I hardly ever play or talk about the trilogy.

When the boxset was released I chatted with Todd about it and he told me that. He ran some analysis on that track and his conclusion was that it was a copy of the old mp3, not a different or lower gen source of the demo. And I believe him. They have the tapes somewhere. They are lazy.

Ok, my impressions.... let's go: * Insomniac: As a first release for Anniversary Editions was OK at the moment, but now it seems a poor release compared to the others. I hope they re-release it with more content (Live concerts, demos, unreleased tracks, etc). I give it the credit the live tracks included were mixed different. * Nimrod: It's a little bit disappointing for me. I love Nimrod, it's a 10/10 in GD's career for me. The era, how GD sounded live at that time, etc. The first disc, the whole base album, no extras. I was expecting the 4 bonus track from Australian release were included, but OK we had Shenanigans for that in 2002. However, with the Demos album I had mixed feelings. I just love how some tracks changed like Nice guys finish last and the surprising fact that Black eyeliner was the origin of Church on Sunday and Kill your friends (The Longshot). The ramones cover was good and just that. On the contrary, Tre's Polka is really dull... I would love in that case the inclusion of D.U.I. The live record, I really like it, but it is annoying to listen to some segments when the band is playing in loop for so long meanwhile Billie was interacting with the audience (If we could HAVE WATCHED that, is another story) and the messy version of Knowledge. * Dookie: In simple words, amazing release. I'm not too technical about the sound and make an analysis but I loved how improved sounds 409 in your coffemaker and the new version of Christie Road. I liked the demos (included the new ones: the 4-track ones). The shows selected were good choices (Aragon Ballroom from Chicago or Jannus Landing from Tampa Florida could be also good choices), I always wanted Woodstock 94 on CD (Specially, after that special release on vynil from RSD in 2019), and Barcelona 94 show mixing feels more raw or savage in a certain way. * American Idiot: I liked the fact that they showed some demos which were used for final songs from AI, you know taking pieces from here and there, some lyrics, some melodies, etc. Lowlife could be perfectly in a GD record in my opinion. Just another year and Everyone's Breaking Down are really catchy. Also, the alternative demo for AI was a good addition. However, I was expecting more from C&V sessions (I still hope GD release that album someday). Also, I liked the second disc is a B-sides/Live tracks compilation from stuff from AI era (I would love here the Aol Sessions EP to get it in a physical disc) and the live show from Irving Plaza is rad. The new docummentary was a superb extra, with so many moments with the band playing live, doing silly stuff (Poor Jason White!! xD) and some promo stuff activities and walking around different places... NICE!! The only one "bad thing" with this release is I can't listen the whole 4 CDs at once, I have to do it in parts... you know, basically listening the same songs so many times in a row... * Warning: I liked it more than Nimrod XXV release in general. The second CD was a mix of released stuff at the time and some unreleased demos and mixes. I love they included the original version of Maria (And as a full version) and I don't want to know if you are lonely (nice Husker Dü cover, BTW). Speaking about the demos, it was weird not having Minority, Waiting and Warning. Misery feels so different, so "amateur-ish", the final version is amazing with all the arrangements in its production. My favorite demos were Church on Sunday and Macy's Day Parade. About the new Otis mixes, I like Waiting but the original version is better for me. The live album, I like it too, but I don't understand why they cut Church on Sunday. The Saxophone part for 2000 LYA was a nice touch for that song. So glad to get some live versions from Warning tracks and Platypus. However, it had some segments with the band playing in loop like Nimrod Live CD... So, this is my ranking: 01 Dookie 02 Warning 03 American Idiot 04 Nimrod 05 Insomniac And I would love this kind of treatment for 39 Smooth, Kerplunk and 21st Century Breakdown in the future...

Are we deadass? That track in particular struck me as low quality, but I was assuming it was due to the sources. They also stuck it at the end of the studio tracks in the track listing, when it clearly did not come from the album sessions. I didn't mention that, but I would have loved to hear those. The album essay mentioned how they had to be re-recorded due to fidelity issues, but it feels plausible that they could have been restored with modern tools. I guess we at least get an approximation of those arrangements in the demos (Chump's original ending, Longview's original tempo). An [unrealistic] opportunity to release those would be to release Cavallo's original mix of Dookie in its entirety. The curation of demo tracks comes down to preference, but I tend to value variety: how different they were from the final album. Though it can be hard to balance "vastly different" with "still listenable" when you're dealing with tracks that were never meant to be heard. Things like "Misery" with unfinished scratch vocals are a historical gem, but also not something that I'm going back to super often (ditto with Walking Alone). Though I still like Nimrod because of the eight songs that never made the album entirely.
-
Gotta say that I'm not too fond on any of them, but for different reasons. Mostly presentation, specially on the demos side. For my consideration, the demos should be able to showcase an evolution (if they choose demos from different stages of writing, like the Nimrod ones) but they end up being presented in a messy way, and it bothers me. Warning demos seems to be the most consistent on that task, as American Idiot ones. I like the AI ones specially because it shows they actually disassembled whole songs to make the record, best example is Lowlife. B-sides are ok, for most part. For the live shows they went stingy and didn't pay for the covers and snippets, witch is sad not to be able to experience a uncut live show. Three special mentions: - Dookie outtakes are good for the most part, but pitch corrected voices on old releases sounds really bad. Chris Dugan did a good job trying to recreate the mixes (as Jerry Finn passed away long time ago, and the songs were never mixed properly), but the election of correcting the voices is lame. I expected a remix of J.A.R, as it never sounded finished to me, that hi-hat is too loud, but didn't happened. - Reprise did a really bad move in trying to masking the demo of walking the dog as a new source but actually is the mp3 rip from ages ago. Raw capitalism. - They missed the chance to finally show the original versions of Chump and Longview.
