Revolution Radio was ALMOST one of their best albums
DookieLukie replied to Scumfuc Waste's topic in Green Day Chat
RevRad is great. I still remember first listening to Bang Bang debut on the radio and loving it, particularly once that little drum solo hit. I remember it being liked by even “old” Green Day fans. I also heavily associate it with Autumn given the release and sort of melancholic vibe of the record. I loved stories of them recording it in that apartment studio. I loved stories how the drums sound. I wish Billie’s vocals weren’t so filtered. Guitars and vocals with Saviors production would bring a lot of the songs more energy. Some of them fall flat at times. And the mixing is sort of unbalanced in a few tracks. It’s a solid, mature record. Only a few songs on there that I never revisit. - Today

Well, I've been running over 30km / 3h per week for the past 6 weeks, most of it outdoors, so the odds are a bit in my favor I guess. That said I've seen only two people. The first was a woman around my age with a shirt from the Saviors tour. I cannot see very well from afar, so at first it was the black and pink design that made me suspicious, and I only confirmed it was Green Day / Saviors themed shirt once she was super close. I was in the second to last km of my long run then, so I was more in survival mode and didn't think to any thing. The other was a younger girl with a shirt with the hand-grenade design from AI, so I saw that a mile away, but she was young and with her parents (I assume) and I didn't want to seem like a creep, so I just ran past her without acknowledging it at all 😅

It should have ended with Forever Now though. Seems like the only appropiate thing to do, considering how it ties in with the first song and all. Ordinary World is obviously an overthought and appears to be shoe-horned in, so to speak. It's one of their best albums overall, for sure. To me it's definitely better than 21st Century Breakdown. I also feel like it has their most successful tracks in that American Idiot/21st Century Breakdown vein. Like "Bang Bang" and "Revolution Radio" is a culmination of that particular type of Green Day song. -
When you get excited every time you notice someone one wearing a Green Day shirt during your runs, and wish you could acknowledge it/them somehow

Can we stop pretending Shenanigans doesn't kick ass?

Shenanigans is great! When I first got that album I didn't even realize it was a compilation of B-sides. -

Yes, the rest of the song's lyrics are good. But that one I mentioned is so hard to ignores, and makes me cringe a bit every time it comes. But to each one their own, that's the beauty of it, there's something for every taste I see your 2010 American amphitheater 21CB, call it a rehearsal for what was to come, and raise you the 2010 South American tour, culminating in the 4 hour long, 43 songs extravaganza at Costa Rica that included Brat, One for the Razorbacks, One of My Lies, Only of You, I Was There, Paper Lanterns, Road to Acceptance, and Dominated Love Salve, among others. I was at both those shows.... those were so good 🥹 It's also when right in front of Mike became my favorite spot at Green Day shows, I wanted to be right in front of him when he sang his bit in American Eulogy -

21st Century Breakdown tour was peak at MSG they played Disappearing Boy Last Night on Earth just Billie and Jason Drama Queen which at that point wasn’t even released and played when I come around super early just because someone requested it. Also before the lobotomy, jaded, and other deep cuts 3 plus hours and 2 encore. Viva la Gloria and 21st Century Breakdown almost brought the arena down and American Eulougy got a huge reaction especially Mikes part. Those shows had so many random songs and peak Billie vocals. -

I was so shocked and delighted when Billie announced they will play HAUSHINKA, I yelled so loud!! Nimrod is my favorite album, and as a Chilean fan, waiting 7/8 years average to watch them live... IT BLEW MY MIND!! What an EPIC MOMENT!! Amazing to get this deep cut here in Chile!! And the band still sounds incredible!! Also, before Dilemma, Billie sang a little bit of One of my lies!! -

I'll see your Rev Rad tour and raise you the summer 2010 North American amphitheater 21CB tour. That setlist was off the hook. 3 hours of hits, deep cuts, really fucking deep cuts, and total random mayhem throughout. -

The are you stranded like I’m stranded the fuck you I’m from Oakland, are you broken like I’m broken, do you want to watch the earth fall to pieces, she’s the cedar in the trees of Minnesota are all pretty clever to me. I think Youngblood had a great reaction when played on tour and is the third best song on rev rad next to bang bang and still breathing…ordinary world is a perfect vocal performance by Billie and is a beautiful ballad up there with Macy’s Day parade. And was awesome live. -
Are we sure they are using auto-tune and or pitch/correction? Unless you are an audiophile is it even noticeable? It’s not like blink or other bands that use backing instruments and backing vocals that make the mix sound like they are singing through a walkie talkie.

Oh no. I'm always begging for deep cuts and they pull THIS one? It's so frustrating being a Green Day fan. The Hives are the Kings of Rock Music Now so I think I'm going over to a Hives forum. Probably for the best. I was actually whining about this right before I jumped on here, lol: If they could do a little tiny medley of the albums they ignore, they just might have a perfect setlist to keep going into eternity with. At the Library / Oh love / Stray Heart / X-Kid / Father of All Medley - 36 seconds of each - the perfect 3 minute medley. -

I wanna hold you like a gun, we'll shoot the moon into the sun 😅 Billie Joe is my favorite song writer of all times, by a long shot, but that line is so terrible. And the way the music emphasizes it, makes it impossible to not pay attention. It ruined the song for me. I also don't care for Ordinary World 🤷♀️ The rest of the album is great though. I love Say Goodbye, it's actually among the top songs in the album for me. Agreed that Somewhere Now/Forever Now is an amazing combo and opening and closer (all the more offensive Ordinary World becomes by just popping up after Forever Now 😅).
