Dude. This is one of my favorite songs. Funny story: this is actually the second of two songs the Coverups played that was written by David Bowie for Mott the Hoople. Bowie had written "Suffragette City" for them. They didn't like it, so they politely refused and said not to send anything else because the band was splitting up. Bowie went to the hotel they were staying in and played "All the Young Dudes" for them, they loved it, and the band stuck together for another 5 years after it became a hit. If you can make it through this and "All the Way from Memphis" without becoming a Mott the Hoople fan, there's no hope for you and true, classic '70s glam rock.

That sounds like a gem. I got the notion that he was supportive of the new generation of punk bands he helped blaze the way for. I mean, here he is with the Offspring right after they made the jump from Epitaph to Columbia.

Neurosis is a band that Billie has talked about a few times over the years. They were on Lookout and their earlier years were punk before shifting toward post-metal. Fantano reviewed their new album and used the term "firing on all cylinders" which made me immediately think of Green Day. Huh.

The book has numerous coloured pages with band photos, drawings and song lyrics. Seem to only cover limited period. The above link is for the 21st Century Breakdown album. Also have American Idiot, and Revolution Radio. Talking about Trilogy I've got digibook for Uno and Dos. Can't seem to find one for Tre? Nothing prior to AI and nothing after Rev Rad.

We all have different tastes in music, even as GD fans, that's cool and fully respect that. If a particular sound connects with someone and makes them happy, who am I to judge their choice in music. Love reading about Billie Joe's early life, growing up listening to his family members various music genres. Some quite surprising. Yet they affected him in such a way that resulted in the GD sound we love so much.
