the mvp ceremony at super bowl 50 had a ~8min duration, i guess greenday could fit in 3 songs, depending if they will play some sort of medley did they ever play a medley of their greatest hits? i only know about kingforaday/shout etc

Confirming what I posted is what they played, 100%. It's possible the crowd didn't earn Forever Now as it was pretty tech bro-y for a Green Day show but as I said earlier, the band certainly had quality energy. BJA did rip on Spotify as a sponsor by yelling "yay Napster" and also called FanDuel "OnlyFans" so he was in high spirits haha.

They didn't play Forever Now? Also I've heard that they might play Bang Bang at the Superbowl. Weird that they didn't play it here

They played 16 songs, no deep cuts. Will post a full recap once I’ve slept! But it was absolutely a tune up show with a big paycheck for their Super Bowl appearance on Sunday. That said, they had good energy!

You can already tell by that bit that this is just a warm up, almost like a soundcheck kinda vibe😂

My pleasure! It's going to be the weirdest vibe imaginable but I'm a true fan and will share how it shakes out once I'm back. Yes, it's definitely happening but as another poster mentioned, there's no need for publicity as it's (unfortunately) mostly a VIP-only type affair. I don't want to dox myself but I can say I'm attending as media and otherwise would have no shot at getting in.

Exactly, there is so much hype. The expectations are so high that GD will never be able to meet them. And they don’t have to, in my opinion. It’s not for musicians to save the world. With their art they can only make it a bit better. Or more bearable.

I keep imagining them involving the bunny somehow and people being super confused or thinking it has something to do with Bad Bunny Other than that, I expect them to be their normal selves: I do think AI will be part of the setlist because I don't think you invite Green Day to play at your event but not play one of their top 5 most iconic and recognized songs. I see the organizers asking Green Day not to sing AI akin to them asking Bad Bunny to sing his songs in English I don't expect them to say anything crazier than what they do at their regular shows: "I'm not a part of the MAGA agenda", "this is not a party, this is a celebration, let's take care of each other" type of speech, and maybe one or two "fuck ICE"/"chinga la migra". How much of this will be censored/bleeped, I don't know. But I guess we will find out because we are bound to also see phone-recorded videos from people in attendance, so if there is a huge discrepancy, we'll know. I think people's expectations (and I mean like normies/people who are not Green Day fans but just excited to have another anti-Trump band on stage at the Super Bowl) are way too high. They are seeing this Green Day/Bad Bunny combo as something that will basically start a revolution, or offend Trump so deeply that he will leave the country and spend the rest of his days hiding in the mountains. It's just another performative thing. Like celebrities saying stuff about ICE (this year, last year was Gaza, before that it was about opposing fascism, before that probably Ukraine, before that trans right, before that MeToo, before that the environment, and so on), and us feeling good about ourselves because the celebrity we like is supporting the social cause of the hour, and feeling we've done our part because we re-posted their little comment. (Sorry, I'm feeling very cynical as of late).

So who's winning Super Bowl on Sunday? Definitely Green Day 🔥

Great choice. Of the many many things GD are good at it's demos. And this is an amazing collection from the Trilogy set. Considered a more raw, energetic collection to the studio recording of the 3 albums. Also, there's the awesome brand new song 'State of Shock' with a faster punkier sound, one of my all time favs. Enjoy.
