128 feels too slow. That's more like half speed.

Nah. It's 128. Count 1-2-3-4, 2-2-3-4, etc during the opening riff. Each part of the riff (A-->F-->D and A-->F-->C-->E) are one measure of 4 beats each. That section is repeated again.

There's no difference between 128bpm and 256bpm, but 128bpm is easier to follow. I made two midi files of the Intro with guitar pro.

256bpm - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4gRue3A2GcxcWhJdFJOdkNoeUk/view?usp=sharing

They're both exactly the same, but 128bpm is easier to follow

The article Mikey was referring was on NME, but his Canadian trickery makes it sound like "Enemy," unless that was his point.

Oh, oops :D I tried to find it, but there are so many Green Day articles on there... do you remember the title or what they said?

They might be the same in 1 aspect but where you have 1 beat in 128, 256 has 2 and that is a closer mirror. I say it's 256 but it probably ranges from 255-257 with the tempo not being a constant.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying... but a quarter note in 128bpm would be the same thing as a half note in 256bpm

What I'm saying is that if it was 128bpm, it would fluctuate between 127.5 and 128.5 since it's not exactly on 128. 256bpm fits better because it catches every beat and minor tempo change.

The bridge is the best part of the song, you guys are bat shit crazy hahaha.

Just @Jack. Everyone else likes it.

The bridge is a key component of the song. Without it, the song doesn't have nearly as much depth, nor does it feel complete.

Anyway, I enjoyed the episode. I'm glad Static Noise is back, for the time being.

I have faith that the desire to create new, exciting editions of Static Noise is there. I'm just trying to keep my expectations in check.

The potential to expect new Static Noise episodes moving forward is exciting.

Whoever suggested Bang Bang would be better if the bridge was like American Idiot should be flogged. Guitar solos that basically just mirror the vocal melody are over-done and you can find that in like half of their songs already anyway, this is why we can't have unique Green Day instrumentals because people like you can't hang :P

There's a reason Jack hasn't logged on since April. He doesn't want to live up to his terrible opinions.

didn't realize how much I missed Mikey's voice until he said the song was wearing a cock ring

I think my voice sounds stupid, I'm just somewhat amusing at times.

This is the first time I've listened to a static noise podcast and although I was a bit "woah" when I saw it was a full hour long, I kinda wished it was longer in the end  It's really relaxing to hear you guys talk and very funny. Also very interesting to hear your voices! They are all kinda how I imagined them to be.

What was the "Enemy" article you were referring to?

Thanks so much for listening, and for that well thought out response to the show!!

Here's the article from NME: http://www.nme.com/reviews/green-day/13452

Awesome episode guys! I love Bang Bang too! It's rocks so F@ckin hard! They better play it live because it will be so sonic in concert. Sorry I disagree, I love Oh Love. It just wasn't the best lead off for Trilogy because it was slower but it's still a good song. IMO of course. Question: Who made the lyric video for Bang Bang?

Finally managed to listen, a great episode! You surely didn't spend all the valuable time for nothing :P I think Static Noise is an awesome recap when there's so much Green Day news and I can't keep up.

It was directed by Ariel Costa, a Brazilian animation/art director. His website linked under the video is actually really cool (http://blinkmybrain.tv/greenday-bang-bang
