Iain Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 So this is American Idiot, but just a test copy for the vinyls? Seems like a cool item but is it worthwhile to have the same album only on a test copy? Also, gotta love the copy/paste from the Wikipedia page to describe the item.
J&TheNight Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I just bought this from Hot Topic XD I think I'll pass this time around. Still, that will go for a pretty penny. Such a rare item for a collector no doubt.

Sometimes test pressing will feature a different mix or different order or a song will have a glitch (not always)
Iain Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Sometimes test pressing will feature a different mix or different order or a song will have a glitch (not always) Hmmm, yeah, I guess there's that. It would be interesting. However, it would be helpful if the seller actually listed the contents and gave a better idea instead of just a sentence. I mean yeah they've only opened it once to check the contents but wouldn't it help to give us an idea if the contents are any different to the finished product?

The only thing id say might be different is if there was a glitch in the transfer

Considering the items are unopened (besides just to peek and verify what was in the case), I'd say it's not really possible to know for sure. It seems to me like this is something someone buys as a collectable item and they haven't actually listened to see what kind of oddities there may be on this pressing.
dangreenday Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 well that went for a hefty price !!!!!! btw guys Test Pressings are 99% for Green Day Collectors Only for everyone else theres not Real Reason to own it - Unless you want to pay over the odds for a LP you can get with a cover for like £20 - $25
Todd Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Yeah, don't play test pressings. They're the same as the version you can get in the store. If you're gonna pay $300, don't ruin it.
The Grohl Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 For $300 you need to frame that shit and display it proudly.

Not always true Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie test press had 31 songs while the real album was only 28 tracks Bush's Razorblade Suitcase featured an entirely different mix than what the final vinyl (and cd) had
