Green Day contributed 99 Revolutions.

http://www.one.org/protestsongs/

It made it sound like they were gonna cover an old protest song like when they did Working Class Hero

ikr, I guess I saw what I wanted to see when I read about this, because I saw "covered" songs but it was actually "contributed" songs =/

Or "Viva La Revolution" by The Adicts.

99 revolutions is hardly an iconic protest song. As good as it as, it hasn't had enough mainstream exposure.

American Idiot probably is, though...

I think Holiday is probably their best protest song.

There are so many better protest songs! American idiot, holiday, minority to name a few!

Does KYE count as a protest song?

Only if you're protesting raw ham.

I agree.

99 revolutions is good, but they have better "protest" songs...

I think American Idiot is the most straightforward of all their political songs, so to speak. It gives its message, and it gives it clearly.

Holiday may be their best protest song in terms of pure quality, but what makes American Idiot iconic is the sheer sense of urgency and that beautiful guitar riff. And the message is much clearer and aggressive.

Beat me to it.

It's probably not their best protest song, but I think Minority is probably up there with American Idiot. It really gives off that impression of breaking away from the crowd and kind of starting your own rrevolution, so to speak, and that seems pretty relevant in today's world.

There's also American Eulogy.

There are a lot of choices, 99 Revolutions being their most recent, so it makes sense. And I do love that song, so it would be my choice right now as well.

Amazing video! As always, I just love the energy that comes across.

love this live. the crowd is so pumped and knows the lyrics to 99 revs which is really great!

and the fact that the camera isn't always on Billie is cool.

Awesome :woot:

Now...is this song in favor of Occupy Wall Street, or is it against it?

In support.

There's a rat in the company

A bail out on Easy Street
How the fuck did the working stiff

Become so obsolete?

We live in troubled times

From the ghetto, to an empty suburban home
We live in troubled times
And I’m 99% sure that something’s wrong
It’s all wrong

Yay! I really like this video and it's nice to see a great recording of that song. :ga:

I went to the website link at the end of the video and it's true that 99 revolutions is a good protest song.

I just finished watching it. It's awesome.

Makes me cry tears of blood (in a good, post concert depression still in my life kind of way).
