jacknovella Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Hey all, Not sure if this is thread-worthy but I think it's definitely a good topic for discussion. As you may know Billie Joe posted a photo on Instagram the other day of himself in the studio, with the caption: 'Having fun with guitars remixes uno dos tre" Here's the link: http://statigr.am/p/443591475652220455_208612324 The post got me really excited, just the idea of hearing some of the trilogy songs with possibly more distortion and less production...similar to what Dookiefied does. Billie Joe himself said in the RS article that he loves 'shitty sounding recordings' and that in some ways he wishes they'd recorded the last records 100% live." This makes me question whether he and potentially the rest of the band were/are unhappy with how the songs ended up sounding. Don't get me wrong I know they wouldn't have released them unless they thought they were perfect, but maybe their opinions have changed since the release? Either way I'm keen to see if we ever get to hear any of this. What do you guys think? Mods, feel free to close this if it's not thread-worthy.
Guest Ben Sheridan Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Probably their long awaited collaboration with Skrillex.

OneSongInFrench Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I'm dying to hear thick Marshall tones on these tracks, AI style.
green day is Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I would absolutely love dirtier guitars! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyQW4evCyEQ
Sarcasm Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Probably their long awaited collaboration with Skrillex.Hi Cdog, allow me to escort you out.
Annie, get your gun Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 But he meant a remix or a different version of the songs? Remixes of Kill The DJ and Wow! That's Loud would be nice to hear.
LazyPhil Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I know about this, but these guitars are on top of the clean ones which makes it sounds weird.
inthehallwaynow Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 maybe its an old picture he just recently wanted to post

inthehallwaynow Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 He said "guitar remixes" Does it make a difference? IT DOES TO MEEE LAZYPHIL
HolyHandGrenade Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Right now this thread is just speculation and voicing preferences, so I really hope we get some good stuff from the studios soon! My #1 pick for a low-fi remix is Carpe Diem Hi Cdog, allow me to escort you out. Oh, goodness, I can C the resemblance
jacknovella Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Also note that in Cuatro when discussing the new sound, he mentions that it's 'fucking with' his head. Obviously the ways he says it suggests in a good way, and he's excited about the new sound, but it could also be interpreted as him being unsure about it, perhaps?
Asa. Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I'm interested..though I like the guitar mixes in the trilogy as it is...it's pretty minimal, but at the same time it kinda "punches you in the face". Musically. I don't know if anyone knows what I'm talking about but that's how I feel.

Interesting...
Alan86 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Whole leash it !!!!!!!!! I hope these guitar remixes become available
tdlyon Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I doubt we'll ever hear what he's doing. He's probably just fucking around in the studio because he's bored.
LazyPhil Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I doubt we'll ever hear what he's doing. He's probably just fucking around in the studio because he's bored. I don't think he would pay money to rent the studio just to "fuck around"
Sanity Loan Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I don't think he would pay money to rent the studio just to "fuck around" Doesn't Green Day own it?
LazyPhil Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Doesn't Green Day own it? I've never heard of Jingletown being owned by Green Day
Alan86 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Doesn't Green Day own it? Maybe he personally hands the money over to himself to rent his own studio
jacknovella Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Well we know Billie Joe has his own studio set up at home, obviously not as technically equipped as Jingletown but I think if he really was just fucking around he'd do it at home. It seems more to me like he's actually experimenting with the guitars on some of the tracks somehow.
Cob Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I've never heard of Jingletown being owned by Green Day Jingletown is Green Day's studio. They renamed it to "Jingletown" after they bought it. The guys themselves wouldn't have to pay to use it but other projects definitely would have to. Anyways I'm perfectly fine with the current versions of the Trilogy. The production is a little off in some points but for the most part it's pretty strong. It's likely that he's just going through the masters and messing with other guitar tracks that were recorded but buried in the mixing/mastering.
