BWW Review: GREEN DAY'S AMERICAN IDIOT at Admiralspalast Berlin - Punk Rock in desperate search of good producers.

https://www.broadwayworld.com/germany/article/BWW-Review-GREEN-DAYS-AMERICAN-IDIOT-at-Admiralspalast-Berlin-Punk-Rock-in-desperate-search-of-good-producers-20180902

The stripped-down, bare-bones, cheaply-produced touring production that was foisted upon the half-empty Admiralspalast in Berlin last night had almost NOTHING to do with the musical presented on Broadway. Last night's performance was like watching a 3rd-rate, Green Day cover band in a provincial nightclub.

Encore Theatrical Company in Morristown

The season opener, Feb. 8-17, is “Green Day’s American Idiot” a two-time Tony and Grammy Award winner. The electric-rock musical of youthful disillusion follows the journey of a new generation of young Americans as they struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world, accompanied by a score of Green Day’s music. The American rock band was formed in 1986 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt and was originally part of the punk scene at the DIY 924 Gilman Street club in Berkeley, California. The show will be directed by Howard and presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International at Walters State Community College. It is rated ‘R’ for strong language and adult themes and situations.

February 8 – 17th, 2019

A critical smash on Broadway and in London, the two-time Tony Award® winning hit musical American Idiot tells the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Based on Green Day’s GRAMMY® Award-winning multi-platinum album and featuring the hits “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, “21 Guns”, “Wake Me Up When September Ends”, “Holiday”, and the blockbuster title track, American Idiot boldly takes the American musical where it’s never gone before.

I'll probably go at some point but not sure which I'll go to yet. Maybe Birmingham? Are you going?

I’m hoping to get to one of the Edinburgh dates, anyone else?  Seen it twice already though so if this gets to difficult, may not.

I have tickets for Sheffield, twice, due to a friend who thought she could go on Saturday, now can't, so I'm going with her on Tuesday! This will take our total of watching this to 9 🙈 new cast though, and I loved the last St Jimmy, we were debating going to another city to watch it just for fun too, it does give a good 'live green day' fix when they're not touring, although next year maybe they will be 😂😍

It does! I remember Tre saying it was the closest he'd ever get to seeing Green Day live! There's an interview somewhere (might have been one of the drum magazines) where Tre was asked where the musical should play in the UK and Tre replied Nottingham. When asked why Nottingham he replied "because it's got a pub in a church"!
