  2. The return of GDA! Welcome back! The site has had its ups and downs over the years, but I'm glad GDA/GDC has persevered. I've been in and out of fansites throughout the years, but GDA is the only one that has stuck with me. This site and community mean so much to me. I've made friends here, gotten so much support when going through difficult times, and experienced the kindness of other fans. It still blows my mind how people here are willing to help out others and expect nothing in return. It's just fans helping out other fans. And I've received so much love, support, and advice here whenever I was struggling. I've experienced so many life events while on this site: bad breakups, losing loved ones, losing jobs, etc. But no matter how bad it got, GDC was there to help me through it. Sometimes it was venting with others. Sometimes it was just to gwak at Billie and take my mind off of things. This love and support help keep me going, especially in terms of writing. I've been writing independently for 10 years now, and it often feels like you're writing into a void. I've wanted to quit so many times, but just when I wanted to give up, I would get a comment from someone on GDC, and it'd make me smile. I felt good that at least one person took the time to read something I wrote. It inspires me to keep writing. It even helped me join the GDA team! I still remember someone on the board recommending me as a writer for the site, and it meant a lot to me. I'm filled with so much pride and joy everytime I log onto the site and see "GDA Staff" under my cursed profile picture. I remember when I first found the site, thinking the people who got to talk about Green Day all day were the coolest people in the world. I never thought that one day I would join GDA and be part of the cool kids Even though the site has been through some rough times, it's great to see the impact it has had on people. Fans still talk about the site and have good memories tied to it. I hope more folks will visit the site, whether they're new or returning users, because this truly is a special place. Long live GDA.

  4. STAY THE NIGHT! Forever Now! Stuart & the Ave! Redundant!!! One of my lovely friends got onstage and Billie took his pride flag the night before 🄹 Both shows were absolutely incredible but the first one was one of my favourite Green Day shows ever. There was the most amazing atmosphere around us and so many lovely people in the queue 🩷

  5. WHAT A SHOW. Hubby said every time he sees them he thinks they can’t be any better, then he sees the next show, Stuart and the Ave nearly made me cry, Forever Now I just love, totally not expecting Stay The Night and I was a little worried his in-ears were an issue but overcame it. Only down side was it was only 90 minutes and Billie had on the long sleeve version of the OEB shirt šŸ˜‚. Seriously, they looked and sounded great, it was amazing. Also, some of the new merch is really nice.

  6. No posts at all? We got JAR! that set was phenomenal. I don’t really do festivals but Green day always make festivals feel like a green day show. I can’t put into words how it felt when - after a day of sunshine and heat - it started raining the second Billie sang ā€œhere comes the rain againā€. No one could believe it, not even Billie!

  7. Yeah, Zac Carper is Alice Baxley's brother that Billie helped. "The last time Carper left rehab, he was determined to use again. He was depressed, and all of his close friends but Schwartzel had abandoned him. The only others who hung around were still using themselves. Fortunately, he got a call from Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, who had gone through addiction problems of his own. He talked to him for an hour on the phone, advising Carper that it was worth it to try to stay clean. ā€œI probably wouldn’t be sober today if Billie Joe didn’t call,ā€ he says. ā€œHe really helped me when no one else was there.ā€ "

  9. People on Reddit say lots of things lol. I don’t check in there much, but that particular community seems to have a fixation with thinking he’s drinking every time he has some kind of on-stage issue, with most of them going ā€œhey man it’s fineeee if he wants to drinkā€ and all that nonsense. One time they swore he was drinking last year because he was acting weird during a song and lo and behold, there’s a video from right after where he’s like ā€œI was just choking on an Advil!ā€ Lmao. I understand the worry 100% but it takes more for me to be concerned than one meh night where there were other things at play that caused tension. I imagine starting two hours later than scheduled is a big deal for a performer when they have specific rituals to get themselves ready for the show. I mean, I’m just a concertgoer and even I’ve been put in weird moods by rain delays. Having all that built up adrenaline delayed, and worries over whether the event will go on at all, messes with you a bit. I saw GD last year in Philly and Pittsburgh and enjoyed Philly a lot less because it was up in the air all day whether the show could happen because of a hurricane.

  10. I haven't watched the show yet, so I cannot comment on his behavior, but given the whole situation with it being postponed due to the storm, not knowing if it would happen or not, and being on that state of uncertainty for at least an hour, especially for a front man who has said many times he gets stage fright, I imagine is quite enough to put anyone in quite a state. So I wouldn't worry too much, as in all the previous shows he has seemed perfectly fine and quite enjoying himself.

  11. Back in March, I was able to acquire the Japanese guitar magazine that features the photos of Billie's nimrod guitars and rig that were shared last year. The publication is called Cool Guitar - Modern Rock, issue is November 1998. I scanned the pages and translated the article to the best of my ability. I just finished up another video with 182News breaking all of this down. Enjoy! Link to my article translation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YdW-IzWNR4Mxw_yuZX1Na0XDqDS4_lbv/view?usp=share_link

  12. The setlist for the second night was: American Idiot Holiday Know Your Enemy (w/ fan on stage) Boulevard of Broken Dreams One Eyed Bastard Forever Now Longview Hitchin' a Ride Stuart and the Ave. Brain Stew St. Jimmy Dilemma (w/ Stay the Night snippet) 21 Guns Minority Basket Case She (Billie seemed to have some in-ear issues from that point onwards) When I Come Around Wake Me Up When September Ends Jesus of Suburbia Bobby Sox Good Riddance [Time of Your Life] (w/ Redundant snippet) Billie had his in-ears in and out tonight, so I guess there was an issue. Glad they played an Insomniac track again and I got to hear Forever Now live in person Liked yesterday I recorded the show and it will be up as soon as possible I wasn't lucky tonight getting a physical setlist though.

  14. Brian Wilson’s passing has me pretty emotional today. Any band that plays with vocal harmony has been influenced by The Beach Boys and Green Day is no exception. Finally having this makes me feel the tiniest bit better. Does anybody know how to save this for download?

  23. Hello! Some of your staff may recognize me from Tumblr as greendaychick14. For 12 years (along with others from the Tumblr Green Day fanbase) I have grown up with GDC and GDA. We talk about you on Tumblr still! I no longer update my Tumblr everyday, and I haven't signed into here in at least 9 years! But what I can say is that I check Green Day Authority every week to see what's going on! Thank you so much for creating this community and to your staff for keeping the news up to date! I see Maria posts a lot on here and I just wanted to thank her for updating so often. This community means so much to me, and honestly this site is better and more accurate than Green Day's own site half the time lol. This was part of my childhood and now at 26 years old, after not signing in for 9 years, I am happy to say thank you for all the years of dedication you all put in. And thank you for being so dedicated that you guys were willing to pour your lives and money into making this stay. I hoped one day you would come back on, and I'm so happy I was right and that you did! Rage and Love ā¤ļø

She just saw the Nat geo ad! šŸ˜† She said she recognized Billie's voice and was like I don't know that Green Day song!! Love that she knows Billie's name and recognizes his voice but refers to Mike and Tre as Mike Dirt and the other one...Mr Cool? šŸ˜†

  27. He fell down right after he came on stage it looked like he hurt his arm. Their crew ran over right away and a medic came as well. He got up with support from the crew and high fived people but didn't get back on stage. I was standing on Jason's side and they took him out that way - next to the stage and he kept holding his arm. I saw Adrienne and Sara watching parts of Sex pistols' set from there so I guess that was the band's area was. From their instagram post it looks like he's okay thankfully. 🩷🩷 I don't think the crowd was lame at all. If you watch videos the show it looked like people were having a good time. Those three songs - including a B-side you cannot expect casual festivalgoers to know. It was awesome! I didn't expect it at all. It looked like they all had a lot of fun. I see that there's some international media writting about it as well which is fun. Frank Carter sounds a lot like Johnny Rotten. My face was like this 😱 when they first came on. @Gƶta what was your reaction to their set? 🩷 Green Day's setlist was similar to the other shows. They played Fuck off and added Burnout. This show together with the first night in Vienna are my favorites from this tour so far. They seemed to have a good time and all of them were smiling. The wristband Billie Joe had on was in the colors of the Norwegian flag. šŸ’• He said "takk" (thank you) several times in a row which was cute. Billie Joe talked about how it was a beautiful festival, city and country. Which he obviously says everywhere but it's more special when it's your hometown. He also said that we were all so beautiful and that "our parents fucked and made beautiful children". 🤣 Then he said something about that's not something you'll see when looking around Texas. The last time they where here Billie Joe kept asking when the sun would go down. Yesterday he commented on how it was starting to get dark by the end of their set. šŸ˜… Sara gave a bunch of kids drumsticks. She made two turns back and forth to give to everyone which was very nice of her. šŸ’• She also posted a video of a guy in a wheelchair crowdsurfing. 🩷 Edit: I'm not really into festivals and would go to a headliner show any day, but I actually liked this one. If some good bands get booked I'll definitely consider going back next year.

  29. Yes! It's the first time I see an organizer actually take into account fans' feedback or try to support the fan-organized queue numbering system. Really 10/10 for the two Vienna shows. The merch is okay. I'm still pissed that they sell so many VIP tickets that the only way to get first row is with a VIP ticket though šŸ™„ Great for me since I can afford it and still queue. Not fair to the fans who cannot afford it though.

  30. I bought the tour poster and FINALLY a foam finger. Been looking for one since I've seen them in Bullet in a Bible and never got the chance to get any of the many they had. 20 years later, I'm a proud Green Day foam finger...holder!

  31. I saw them live at Southside and watched yesterday’s livestream and there’s literally nothing that suggests that he was drunk. The difference between the two shows is that there was no thunderstorm and therefore no delay and no time restrictions at Southside. That’s all. They probably had a little less time and had to rush through some of the songs. It still looked like a good show to me. And him being angry? That’s human. I’d also be mad if someone tried to distract me all the time.

  39. Mate, that’s literally how it happened - you’ve just kicked off moaning about not being believed and you’re literally doing the same thing. We were all there, I vividly remember it happening, don’t have to convince myself anything - ā€œfinkā€ took over the account, deleted a bunch of stuff, and only posted network content. Once that mini era was over Billie deactivated it for a long time. I mean I literally have screenshots 🤣

  40. Because it seems strange if it was meant with actual bad intent towards a Beach Boys member of all people for no apparent reason. Can't really judge without knowing what he meant/what he was referring to, I don't know enough about Brian Wilson to know. He was sometimes rude on social media just curious why he would be in this case so wanted to find it. Not sure what Joey has to do with anything.

  42. This is really great news! When I first got into Green Day years ago while in my teens, I was fortunate to find a safe community here and on the Idiot Club, to discuss the band, their music, and ultimately form friendships that went well beyond that. I'm happy this place continues to exist and continues to offer to fans, old and new, that same sense of community that I found back then Thanks for working so hard to keep this place going, not just @Fuzz but also all the mods, admins and staff.
