  2. Just now getting around to listening to all the new stuff (I'm a patient fan, I like to take my time). I thought it was interesting that more of the demos were written in first person. I always wondered if was referring to the band itself. It just seemed like such a pointed line to write at that point in their career. They were in such a vice at the time. The subgenre you helped pioneer is still popular but you need to evolve as artists and if you go back and make Dookie Pt. II it might be well received but it's an implicit admission that 'yep, these are all the tricks we have in the bag'. Especially after making such a musically expansive record as Nimrod. Warning didn't set the world on fire but they'd be damned if they'd play to type and do what's been done. That's why they've had staying power in the long term.

  3. Christmas presents to myself. Finally got the colour vinyl Dookie box set. Even with a set of pin badges and shipping it was less than half the price of the UK store in the sale of the US store which is insane.

  8. Guys, I'm still very hopeful and wholeheartedly rooting for a live album next year, so sometimes I go online and look for random news about it, and I found something cool! We saw Ryan Mackfall's post about being part of the camera crew at the 2024 Wembley show, and now I found his Tumblr page where he shares a bit more. He said it was Chris Dugan who brought this project to him, and the key phrase for me is "I can't reveal where or how the results will be released," so yes, we'll have it! I'll leave the original link here, where you can read and find some cool photos, including one of a fan being interviewed, which makes me believe we'll have something in the style of BIAB. I was there and would be dope to relive it again https://thatfilmduderyan.com/post/768859390089560064/green-day-wembley-stadium

  10. Every time I listen to Nimrod or it comes on shuffle! It's the perfect interlude Also kind of obsessed with the video of them playing Nimrod songs to an interviewer in the studio before they're completely finished. Last Ride In with some extra jazzy bits and Tre goofing around in the background while Billie listens intensely lol (it's the first song they play him at the start of the video)

  13. Both. When I’m on the go of course I stream everything. In fact, streaming is great because my bootlegs get folded into my library so it’s really the most complete version of my collection. Vinyl is for when I’m at home and really have the time to dedicate to giving the music the full attention it deserves. For me there’s no beating the experience of getting a record off the shelf, putting it on the turntable, hearing the needle drop, listening to it, holding the artwork, reading the inserts. It’s a vibe, man.

  19. Do you know that feeling when you wake up and have the urgent need to listen to certain songs? It’s RevRad day today here!🥰 Besides I remembered that about this time two years ago I bought the tickets for the GD Berlin show of 2024. (Because I wanted to see the opening band, shame on me…😅) How could I know then what a fascinating journey would begin this way? Bit sentimental today, sorry… Have a nice Sunday, all of you!

  24. i have zero tattoos, but in january i will get 3 tattoos in a one-day-session i hope it wont hurt too much one will be the puzzle from biffy clyro, and the enter shikari triangle, and the third one being a mix of everything with green day's disappearing boy in the center (basically a guy with a "disappearing" effect) i didnt want sth that everyone has, like the heartgrenade or the dookie letters etc (still cool tattoos!), and i feel deeply connected to the disappearing boy song, so i choose this for my first green day tattoo (wont be the last one probably) 😊

  26. does this count? i made this art class yesterday. i made a pin of billie joe in his cup noodle costume as well, but it turns out i forgot 2 lines and now i hate it. anyways, i wasn't sure to put it in the fan art thread or this one, since i drew it myself. i could've done better, but it's pretty hard to draw on a 2.5cm circle.

  27. I'd usually encourage any Green Day fan with the means to do the 'pilgrimage' to do it. It's an incredible experience. Of course I have an article for that, too https://atlasandacamera.com/2025/01/29/green-day-landmarks/ But yeah, but the vibes aren't amazing right now, even in California. It'll be a better experience when things change.

  28. Update 2025/12/19: Added scans of my booklet of the Special Limited Edition of WARNING. This booklet was unused, so it was hard to scan. I only scanned the plastic bag (front, back), the front of the digipak, the CD and the special booklet, not the regular booklet). Yes, this is the only version of the "Warning"-CD in a Digipak and as far as I know the only official version where the color of the CD is green, not orange. Here's the folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NcREWY8wuyegjxcxOwXZ3Ar7eggyU0RO?usp=sharing Another update with magazine scans will follow soon

  30. We have 100s of CDs which we loaded onto a pc and then iPods (yes, I know but they were brilliant in so many ways) but iTunes/Apple music has become such a nightmare that last year we switched to streaming. I really hate how Spotify etc treat artists but what is the alternative? We still have some iPods and hubby has been looking into going back to an old version of iTunes but it’s a pain. I am torn between the convenience of streaming versus physical media. Physical media will always be better to me but the bulk can become huge. As @Dingle said, nothing beats the whole experience of buying that album, looking at the sleeve, reading the notes but goodness it’s easier to move a smart phone around!

  31. I do both, but it is more convenient to listen to streamed music. I have a lot of CDs. Yes, I listen to them a lot, and if there is a nationwide blackout and no electricity, I still have a CD player and batteries. . For vinyls, yes I have a record player, but it is just more of a collecters thing. I only buy records if its an anniversary album or a cool print, otherwise i could just buy the CD for less or stream it. I believe it supports the band more or the record label more to buy CD's, and who wouldn't want to support their favorite bands

  34. Today's technology allows me to download all GD stuff in MP3 onto my moby (cell) all safely stored in a cloud, in preference to streaming. And that's really cool. But, imho, the output quality on mobile phones just ain't the same as vinyl. The sound quality of vinyl is something else, there's no comparison, again imho. So, out and about it's headphones on with my moby. But at home, it's vinyl time, speakers on full blast, jump up and down and blow my fuckin' head off. Awesome. Also, maybe it's me, but there's a sorta affinity when buying a vinyl record like a photo, a snapshot in time. Back in December '91, after seeing GD live for the first time, I couldn't wait to get hold of my copy of Kerplunk from my local underground (literally) record store. The feeling of queuing up to collect my copy from the guy behind the counter. My whole body is shaking with excitement. But first, the inspection. The guy carefully takes the record out of it's sleeve making sure not to touch the record surface. Shows me each side of record. But wait, there's a mark there, is that a scratch. Fuck that, another copy please, it must be perfect. Leave the store with my copy in shiny plastic bag. My personal vinyl copy that would be a part of me and change my life for ever. Body, soul and spirit. Both the music and the lyrics. More valuable than a bar of gold. It's scratched to fuck now, cover totally trashed.(Got a new copy though). And still brings back, not only the thrill of an amazing new sound at the time, but what was going on in my life at the time. And this feeling repeated itself every time I bought each new GD record, in vinyl of course.

  45. It was the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia in 2013. I remember because of the shirt! I've only seen Billie wearing it once and I think it's because the sleeves kept getting in the way of him playing guitar and he had to keep pushing them back up. Crazy the things you remember I made a post about it a little while back if anyone is interested https://www.instagram.com/p/DMVnKa1iKiY/?igsh=MTNoa3plemt5aXN5NA== This was one of my favourite parts - Billie Joe did not forget the words to Holiday tonight

  48. I think awkward humour is just their thing and always has been lol If it's specifically about that recent interview I think the most awkward thing was the interviewer constantly complimenting them and saying how amazing they are, along with the film promotion stuff it just wasn't the most natural conversation. But in general they've always used awkward humour. They don't need to be fake and press trained
