Random Green Day Thoughts

Redundant and Prosthetic Head both got “wide mixes” back in the day and it always puzzled me. Why in 1997 would you create a mix specifically dedicated to a wide soundstage mix?

Car stereos.

Mid-late ‘90’s is when CD players in cars started to become prevalent and unlike most hi-fi setups or even computer speakers, car stereos are wide by their very nature because of the speaker’s position in the doors. Makes sense to experiment with mixing towards that at the time.

imo rather than only releasing Prosthetic Head in Germany and making Nice Guys its own single for some unknown reason, they should have just made Prosthetic Head and Nice Guys 1 combined single with like, 1 or 2 studio outtakes (Full band Alison and DUI?)

How much of Green Day's catalogue do you know the words to?  I don't know some parts of 39 and Kerplunk and there's maybe a word or two off Insomniac that  I get wrong, but all their other albums and songs I could recite verbatim.     Let's see what you guys got.

surprisingly i probably don't know even more than 5. the only ones i can recall are longview, king for a day, and jaded, despite the fact that i fixate on one of their songs plenty of times and long enough time to know the lyrics to it.

maybe it could be because i'm a fairly fresh green days fan, but when i first got into soad, i pretty much knew their entire discography in less than a year. oh well!

doing the inspect element equivalent to making silly edits of songs to some setlists makes me wonder how many great setlists bootleggers are truly gatekeeping from the general public (full Prauge 96, Bottom of the Hill 99, the show where American Idiot and JOS debuted, etc etc)

I am just now hearing the insane amount of handclaps on Father of All 🤣

All the singles and Graffitia are jam packed with non-stop clapping.

It's the perfect crime.

True! I think it’s funny!

To say it with Monty Python: And now for something completely different…😂

You think it's Tre doing the actual clapping?  I assumed it would be Billie, but it could by anyone on Earth - or artificial.

considering the story behind title track, im gonna say billie recorded an entire handclapping track as a demo and Butch Walker sampled it for the final album

What’s the story behind the title track?

Butch deemed the demo perfect (for whatever reason) and as a result of that, Green Day didn't go back and finalize it

Chris Dugan is also listed as a producer for title track (and only title track) for this reason, as he produced the demo session(s?) for FOA

i think i'll listen to father of all just to get mad at the clapping and say green day sucks just because of that. not because they suck but just because they clapped more than 20 times in the entire album 😕

That's it guys. Green Day sucks. Green day is the worst band known to man. And it's all because of Father of All and its claps.

I think I know almost everything because I learn it all by reading it like I'm learning to recite poetry lol. I still need to properly learn some of the bonus Saviors songs. There would be a LOT of Insomniac lyrics I would never know if I didn't read them. I remember when I first listened to Westbound Sign I couldn't make out a single word before "westbound sign"

oh yeah, i get that a ton with insomniac lyrics too... i love geek stink breath but i keep getting stuck on it just because of the time he said "just a cripple running the rat race".

seriously, it does not sound like that at all!! and although i know all the lyrics to it, that isn't helping me either
