Hermione Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I would! I love that song live since it has so much energy... And look at it in the Trailer! It's amazing... And we've got BIAB for St. Jimmy, and they haven't really changed anything in it since then so I think it's a good choice! Alright maybe that was a bad example . But I am appalled at some of the essential songs they've cut out. Just noticed American Eulogy on there though! Fuck yeah
AndrewW91 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I hope they include the intro to Gloria: Minus the annoying lady screaming in my ear.
captain peroxide Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Dai was saying (and I agree) that there's plenty of songs on the DVD that are kind of unnecessary, like Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams (which I personally think is a fucking boring song, even live) and Jesus of Suburbia. Those are all great songs and whatnot, but we have them on Bullet in a Bible. I doubt they've changed much, and even if they have, why not use that space for other songs we haven't seen live before. It seems like Green Day didn't actually have much say in the choosing of tracks from the DVD. It seems like it's been geared to appeal to the masses, rather than the hardcore fans.

I was agreeing about St. Jimmy being a better choice than Know Your Enemy, but you proved a good point. I need to buy BIAB at the same time that I buy AAF
Sanity Loan Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I'm now gonna stop looking up these tracks on YouTube. I want to keep it somewhat of a surprise

I personally love the way the did BOBD on the 21CB tour. All acoustically and whatnot, with the audience singing most of it. But I will agree with Jesus of Suburbia. They didn't really change anything with that.
alaniluau Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I hope they include the intro to Gloria: That was really something! I hope they include it as well. I'm so happy Gloria is being included.

XxRedundantCastaway86xX Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I'm going to wait to judge the DVD until I get it. First off, It's definitely going to contain songs that we don't always see all the time or are just awesome live, like Geek Stink Breath, Burnout, American Eulogy, Welcome To Paradise, iViva la Gloria!, She, and Static Age. Secondly, there's a good chance the DVD will include a lot of backstage footage, and interviews, which would obviously be really cool.

I quite like the new version of BOBD Why was Olivia not included??? Nothing from Denver was And I'm guessing because it wasn't the full song.... at least it didn't seem that way
radiofriendlyunitshifter Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 "Green Day recorded every show on the 21st Century Breakdown tour. When it concluded, the band members, singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, sifted through the audio to deliver the best performances from their shows around the world. An iTunes Exclusive edition of the audio portion will feature two bonus tracks. The footage on the bonus DVD was shot at the band’s show in Tokyo, Japan. The package includes Green Day’s biggest hits and fan favorites, including “21 Guns,” “American Idiot,” “When I Come Around,” and “Good Riddance.” See below for full track-listing." Screw their "biggest hits," give us the rare live stuff! The CD is alright, but the DVD setlist looks really boring. And I don't want to go onto iTunes just to get three (awesome) bonus tracks. Maybe I'm just pissed because the cover art doesn't have the llama on it.

Yeah, well of course they're gonna say that in the press release, as opposed to "when it concluded, suits from the record label sifted through the tracks to deliver the performances that would appeal to the largest audience possible and sell the most units." The CD setlist is good, I just object to the lack of Denver Which is just me being grumpy, I'll get over it. But the DVD is really disappointing.

But the DVD is really disappointing. I agree with both points you just made. Actually, I'm really fucking pissed noting from Denver was on there... but that's me being selfish... but seriously, I am pissed.
MCC Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Just saying "Gloria" kinda pisses me off. Why be pissed? They couldn't put a song from every show on the album. They chose the best recordings and Dallas happened to be it in their opinion.

I agree (aside from BOBD which was different with this tour with the acoustic-ness and the audience singing a verse and whatnot, looking forward to watching that). I could do without a lot of the 'standard' songs they've kept, while they've cut out some of the most fabulous standard songs. It seems to be like that with anything Green Day don't have complete creative control over. Their albums and live shows are amazing but when it comes to singles and other 'promotional' things like this it's always the safe road.

They chose the best recordings and Dallas happened to be it in their opinion. That's not what he/she meant. He/she is bothered by the fact that they labeled it "Gloria" and not "Viva La Gloria!"
EvanAsFuck Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I was agreeing about St. Jimmy being a better choice than Know Your Enemy Yeah, I was saying that KYE would be a better choice in my opinion... Damn now I'm confusing myself! EDIT: NEVERMIND! I read your post completely wrong...

EvanAsFuck Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 CD=Siiiiiiick! CD+Bonus Tracks for Download=Fucking Awesome! DVD=Disappointing, but still awesome...
GDLoT Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 please, oh please let there be backstage footage on the DVD too!!!!! even as a bonus feature on the bonus DVD! haha! oh please!!!! I hope they include the intro to Gloria: they better!! it's BEAUTIFUL!
norcalgreendayfan Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I honestly thought the C&V would have been from the Denver show since it was the first one it was played at. The DVD set list is ok but as was said before it could have been changed up so that some of the songs that were in BIAB where not on this DVD and replaced with other songs that we haven't seen a live performance of yet.
Chris P FaFu Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 DETROIT MADE THE CUT!!!! J.A.R.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SHAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
