RogueBreakdown Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 That seriously pisses me off... I mean come on he must not really know who Green Day is! Yeah okay so in the earlier days they were more carefree and kooky but that was how long ago? People need to understand that they have grown up and along with that their music has evolved too. They were never meant to stay on the same path. All bands evolve and thankfully GD went in the right direction. They sing songs that they feel are important to them and to us. They're different than other bands, and that's a good thingAnd if the ass wipe doesn't like it then he should move onto music he wants with more 'fun' I suggest Britney Spears if you want a good laugh
theeulogy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Well, everyone can have their own opinion."-Are u still rage and love?""-still that. But a little bit different"(Billie Joe at Times Talks)So,here they are.Theve always been rebels they'll stay rebels for the rest of their lives,I think. But people are changing....and how can they actually thing about masturbation or smth when we're about to kill each other because of the politic or religion?!They just have they reaction on what they see around'emOn what's going on in the worldand that's great...plus/ watch any of their new performances or interviewes they still have passion...."even more passion^^"
MusicalDeviant Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 SOURCEHarsh words. He obviously really doesn't like it. I have to be honest the album can be pretty hard to like. I guess its just not his cup of tea =PI also think he is a total cock for saying that! They guyliner statement is a pretty accurate description of the teenie fans from last time around. I too sort of miss the 'fun' days. But that's what Foxboro was for. That was pretty fucking fun.
iLozza! Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 As everyone else has already said, they weren't going to be obnoxious cunts for the rest of their career, I mean, by the time they're 50, if they were still doing the same thing and writing about the same stuff, it'd be pretty disturbing and I'm sure some of the fans would get bored of it too.If he doesn't like it, fair enough, but if this turns out to be bigger than American Idiot, I declare him a fail. We all have an opinion, and we're all allowed to voice it y'know. Even if the public enjoy it more than he thinks they will.
suicidexmakeover Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 why is it when a band does ANYTHING, it is just them trying to hard. of course they fucking tried hard, they have to or the same person would be moaning that it was shit.
norcalgreendayfan Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I agree this writer was way harsh in his review and fails to see the points that has been made in this thread in that the members are older now with famililies and kids I mean each of them are nearing their 40s and it is natural to evolve as you grow older and more mature and with the it is natural that the sound of their music will evolve as well as they gain more life experiences and think about the future that would hold for their children. It is illogical to think as a writer to think that a band will keep the same style of music and songs through out their careers because that is impossible to do as well
The Disappearing Boy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 each can have their own opinion, if he doesn't like the album, i haven't got a problem with that.what i have got a problem with, is the hypocrasy of some people. If they were singing about masturbation and teenage lust/angst his reaction would be:'Green Day really need to grow up, acting young has gotten old....'.but then in a years time, if this album is very succesful, the same author will be praising green day, and calling the album a masterpiece anyway.
LouLou Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 you know?yes billie, we know.Haha! It took me a second to get that And as others have said, to each their own. I'm definitely not gonna loose sleep because someone is ratting on Green Day. Who the fuck cares.
mad hatter. Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Lol, looks like the author needs to lighten up rather than the band...
IzButt Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. And my opinion is that this writer is a Señor Poopshit for writing this bullcrappery. He is the one that needs to lighten up and grow up.But OH WELL it's not like he is the voice of the world. Come on people.
forget_me_nots Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. And my opinion is that this writer is a Señor Poopshit for writing this bullcrappery. He is the one that needs to lighten up and grow up.But OH WELL it's not like he is the voice of the world. Come on people.I'm gonna be calling people Senor Poopshit for the rest of my life now. Thank you so much for that phrase. But really, I agree. xD to everything you just said....
.:Whatsername:. Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Like others said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If he doesn't like it, he shouldn't listen to it. Me myself like the serious Green Day much more than silly Green Day, although both are awesome in their own way. If they were still acting the way they did back during Dookie or Nimrod, people would be complaining they grow up already.Lose lose either way. Can't make everyone happy.
steelthorne Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Yes, because clearly writing songs about jerking off and drunk driving is what the band should be doing, instead of actually trying to have a deeper meaning to their songs. After all, thats what punk is all about, isn't it? Note to author: Grow up. Green Day has.no punk is about gettting fucked up and hangin with your friends in a speeding car while on your way to a show while you're on fire lolThey guyliner statement is a pretty accurate description of the teenie fans from last time around. I too sort of miss the 'fun' days. But that's what Foxboro was for. That was pretty fucking fun.truth spoken so well you know?yes billie, we know
Nimrod99 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 That article has no significance to me. He can have his own opinion, I can/will stick with my own. I do miss the days when they were snotty jerks, but they do/did grow up and it was in a good way. The media has no effect on me when it comes to Green Day, I listen to the music and form my own opinion.

chatnoir Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Art critics are one of the most dispensable groups of people ever. Seriously, no one needs them. A lot of them are not creative persons themselves, which in my opinion totally disqualifies them for their job, still they give opinions, although the artists didn't ask them to do so and other people even pay them for it. It's pathetic. Guyliner. Seriously.
Peel Slowly And See Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Someone who crows the last line of Peacemaker like he's Eugene god damned Hütz is obviously humorless.
The Disappearing Boy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 guyliner is the worst thing ever to happen to green day.
xVanessa86x Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Well I would give this album an a+ even if i didn't like Green Day, I mean the sound of every song is unique and lyrically good. I don't know... he is just an idiot.
mad hatter. Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 guyliner is the worst thing ever to happen to green day.I concur.
Peel Slowly And See Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 hes a critic he probably listens to lil wayne. his opinion means nothingAs someone who would love a job as a music critic, and as someone who thinks that Lil Wayne is a promising rap artist, I resent that. Critics aren't meant to be taking to heart, but they are there to help people sort through this gigantic of ocean of music that's out there.
