Warning 2025 Remaster?

My $17 Amazon box set arrived today!

I noticed that all the B-sides are mixed much quieter than the Shenanigans version. All the demos are like this too.

Top is Outsider from the box set and bottom is from Shenanigans CD.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think at least some OTIS tracks are partially re-recorded by Billie, not remixed. So the whole album would be a lot of work.

"Suffocate" is not even the original, uncut, version? That's kind of embarrassing. They should have a digital copy of their whole catalogue, including singles. They could've reached out to any fan site and ask for a WAV rip of something haha
Kidding aside, that's just lazy and proves our point that it's weird they slapped it on here just to fill the space. What a waste.

Whoever is putting together the track lists and digging through the vault has been REALLY lazy for all of these release lol there's so many small issues

This version of Macy's Day Parade def sounds all original, but could be re-recorded I suppose... I wouldn't be surprised if Waiting has re-recorded elements, like guitar feedback and some new little licks in the verses mainly.

Something that no one has really mentioned is that Jackass has a lot of new or modified lyrics... they are just really quiet in the mix

This is EXACTLY some of the issues I was gonna mention LOL Dookie has this too... but I cant remember if AI and Nimrod do too

There's literally no reason to do this other than to make the listener have to turn up and down the volume... they aren't more dynamic or anything, just lowered 🙃

Suffocate must have been in nimrod 25, not here...

I think Nimrod was the only box set where they didn't lower volume on any of the tracks. Warning box set has all the demos, b-sides, and live album at half volume. The Warning remaster CD is the same volume as the original.

The songs that aren't already brick walled are more excusable... but the others just don't make sense lol how do they not have better audio sources in their vaults 😭

Billie did say that if he were to ever rerecord (I’d assume just the guitars given the Otis mixes we have) one of their albums, it would be Warning (not that he has to, just mentioning that it would be the most likely one if we go by Billie’s feelings) because it doesn’t sound live enough to him.

And I absolutely agree. Was hoping I could throw in a version without the abrupt ending on my favorites playlist on Apple Music (tbh if one of the two comes on when I shuffle my favorites, I always make sure I listen to the two of them)

Only just started listening but right off the bat, I love how raw and punchy the guitar is on the Misery demo.

Macy's Day Parade (Otis) is *much* more than what the Saviors acoustic tracks are tbh. This is like a full on remix and I love it

Actually makes me so sad that they didn't remix the full album in the same style

The fact that they didn't use the single version of Suffocate is so funny to me. It still ends abruptly because the rest of it is supposed to transition into Desensitized... now I'm even more confused as to why they put this one on here, because originally I thought it was included to keep the full end of the song intact for streaming.

Oh man i wish they release shenanigans anniversary edition next year. Either we get a hi-res audio of every shenanigans track or we get shenanigans with a 2nd disc like what smashing pumpkins did to pisces iscariot

In short: they just reduce the volume decibels and call it a day

Why is Suffocate on this even though it was a Nimrod session recording? Is it because of inclusion on Shenanigans?

The demos being so complete makes me curious what happened with Scott Litt as producer

2:41 of the Misery demo - "It's the bridge!"

21st Century Breakdown is the next and can’t wait I think it will be the best. I give insomniac anniversary credit for having so many live insomniac tracks!

Is it me, or are the vocals on the Misery and Jackass demos kind of quiet?

To my ears I think it is the same hdtracks/apple music remaster.  I can't really tell any difference.

Scroll down the album list and you'll see it.

Billie's vocals on the Blood Sex and Booze demo are slightly creepy and I like it. The unintelligible words/shouting at the end is different lol, is he actually saying anything or just random sounds?

Glow in the dark Warning man shirt for my brother's Christmas present just arrived 😊

I never thought I would utter these words, but here we go: I kinda liked the saxophone during 2,000 Light Years Away.

I mean, it says 2025 remaster. But yeah, can't really hear a difference. What's even more interesting is that the original album on Apple Music has songs at high res lossless, 192 kHz, while the remasters are listed at 96 kHz. Anyone out there able to do a spectral analysis?

Spoiler

(or DM me song files and I can figure it out)

This is such a deep discount even before the release date I wonder who decided to do this and why. Is it because the preorders did well or not well enough?

It's Amazon's decision. They're probably selling it below their wholesale rate at a loss at this point, because Amazon is big enough to take the loss. They just want to make SOMETHING back. They do that if they're trying to offload inventory, so it tells me preorders (at least for the CDs) did not do very well. At least, that was the case when this sort of thing would happen at the label I worked for.
